## Chameleon Reviews
  ### 1. Simplifies Pop-Ups & Demos with AI Assistant

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I like the fact that with Chameleon, you can choose to create demos easily by using their extension to click through and record your steps, which simplifies creating a proper demo to showcase to users. I also love the AI Copilot, which allows you to ask for help in building experiences, making it a standout feature for the team. Additionally, their customer service is really good, and I appreciate the flexibility they offer.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

One thing is their overlay. The overlay between launches and microservices can be tricky. A lot of times, you have to hide this using JavaScript or CSS. Having a native feature within the app to just toggle the overlay on and off would be nice but it’s not currently available in Chameleon.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chameleon helps us create pop-ups on our sites effortlessly without code. It makes demo creation easy and the AI Copilot speeds up building user experiences, reducing manual work. This was crucial for our digital adoption needs.

  ### 2. Intuitive Surveys with Flexible Presets and Easy Slack Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

The platform is very intuitive. I was able to create my first survey and publish it without much effort. I also like that it includes preset options such as tours, tooltips, surveys, embeddables, and more. Once live, I could easily integrate with Slaco to be notified of responses.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

I did have some difficulty figuring out where to see demos of the live surveys and tours. I've used other tools where this was a little more obvious.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a great no-code solution for product and design teams. Sometimes you want to implement something quickly and Chameleon makes this possible

  ### 3. A tool for engaging users and getting actionable insights

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel J. | Senior Product Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Ease of use to embed new experiences to product , without the help of engineers

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

AI prompt based instructions and Best practice guides would be helpful

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chameleon helps us talk to our users right inside our product instead of relying on email or outside surveys. We use it for quick microsurveys to understand what users think in the moment, and for in-app guides and tours to walk new users through key features.

  ### 4. Simplifies User Feedback with Easy Setup, Needs More Customization

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ítalo D. | Technical Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I like how easy it is to build and launch with Chameleon. Using Chameleon to collect feedback is very straightforward, and setting it up was easy. It's good to see results that help improve our product based on the answers we receive. The initial setup was very easy, with good documentation, and just a few lines of code needed. Additionally, the interface is quite straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

The part of how much we can customize the interface that it showed for the user. We're not seeing many options and the design doesn't look the same experience that we have on our app. So this is something that they can definitely improve. And, also, they can add a little bit more customization on the questions that we can make, how we can connect questions and make them triggered by other questions.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Chameleon to understand user behavior and improve our app's interface. It's easy to set up, build, and launch surveys, collect feedback, and improve our product based on responses. It's straightforward and effective for product enhancement.

  ### 5. Good product at a decent price

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle H. | Customer Success, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I really like the data that we get about customers who interact with certain questions and tours.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

I would like to see more insight into strictly page views outside of tours and surveys.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to create guides and tool tips that customers can hover over on our website to learn more.

  ### 6. Effortless In-App Guidance, Slight Learning Curve

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harsh M. | SEO Analyst, Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I use Chameleon to create in-app onboarding and guidance, like product tours, tooltips, and announcements, which helps drive feature adoption and improve the user experience by delivering contextual messages at the right time. I like how easy it is to build and launch polished in-app experiences quickly without relying on engineering. Beyond the core features, it works especially well for targeting the right users at the right moment and iterating quickly based on feedback, which makes experimentation and optimization much easier. It lets me tailor experiences to specific user behaviors and quickly refine messaging based on real usage and feedback, ensuring in-app guidance stays relevant and effective.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Some advanced customizations and complex targeting can feel a bit limiting without developer involvement, and the learning curve is slightly steep at first. More flexible customization options without requiring custom code, along with clearer templates for complex use cases, would make advanced setups easier. Improving onboarding documentation and in-product guidance for power features could also help reduce the initial learning curve.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Chameleon to create in-app onboarding and guidance without engineering, reducing confusion and increasing feature adoption by delivering timely, contextual messages.

  ### 7. Intuitive UI, easy to use for beginners

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nancy L. | Senior product designer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I really like how easy Chameleon is to use. It's visual, so we don't have to code it (and so there's less engineering overhead), and I can place it wherever I want. It's intuitive using the UI, and creating pop-ups is faster with it than us building those flows ourselves.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

It's like small details when I'm editing. Sometimes, I wish it'd be a little bit more flexible, like, if I add an image, I can't also add a tag. I can only add one image. And then, like, the placement of something is not as intuitive, but after using it, like, I get used to it, so it's not a huge deal.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Chameleon to introduce new features with pop-ups. It's intuitive and faster than manual coding.

  ### 8. Flexible and Supportive, But Needs Better User Tracking

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alan S. | Founding US Employee, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I like Chameleon because it's quite flexible when creating in-app communication, including embedding content and branding for a white-labeled experience. It's also pretty user-friendly, and their support team is always available to help. The initial setup was very easy, especially with the help from their success team.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Their user tracking is a bit lacking. For example, at first glance, you can not tell how many users click the hyperlinks in your tours or tooltips. Sometimes I struggle to understand how the numbers add up too. Better visuals into the user engagement would be nice. They show it as a flow or funnel right now, but it would be nice to choose how you want to visualize it.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Chameleon for product onboarding, feature adoption, and sales enablement, which helps with user adoption and generating upsell meetings. It also facilitates trial-to-paid conversion and user feedback collection.

  ### 9. Seamless Integration with User-Friendly Onboarding

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sivaguru Jeganatharaja J. | SYstem Engineer, Marketing and Advertising, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I like the seamless integration that Chameleon offers with a wide variety of existing software stacks like CRM and ERP, which prevents data silos and allows information to flow freely across an organization. It helps eliminate data silos, enabling a unified 360-degree view of the customer, and automating workflows across departments. Its GUI is user-friendly, making the initial setup process straightforward and easy to complete.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

I don't like that there's no native mobile support, which is a significant drawback compared to some competitors. Users have expressed a desire for more out-of-the-box templates and greater flexibility in customizing certain elements. Some advanced customization may still require custom CSS.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chameleon helps guide new users through onboarding, improving the likelihood of software adoption. Its seamless integration with CRM and ERP eliminates data silos, enabling a unified customer view and automating workflows across departments.

  ### 10. A reliable and innovative platform for user onboarding and engagement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alyssa M. | Brand Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Chameleon makes it easy to create interactive product tours, pop-ups, and in-app experiences without heavy development work. The platform is intuitive, flexible, and offers a wide variety of features that allow us to tailor onboarding and messaging directly within our app. Their customer support is excellent—responsive, knowledgeable, and always eager to help. I also appreciate that Chameleon continually launches new features and provides valuable resources, like their yearly benchmark report, which gives us actionable insights to improve how we engage with users.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Segmentation and company property filtering could be more robust, as it sometimes feels limiting when creating very specific targeting rules. Tours can also occasionally break if an element is missing or changed in the app, which requires additional monitoring and adjustments. These aren’t dealbreakers, but improvements in stability and more advanced segmentation options would make the platform even more powerful.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chameleon helps us onboard new users, announce product updates, and guide customers through key workflows directly inside our app. Before Chameleon, these experiences had to be built with custom coding, which took up valuable developer time and pulled focus away from core product work. Now, our team can quickly launch tours, pop-ups, and tooltips without engineering overhead, which saves time, reduces support tickets, and drives better product adoption. The data and reporting also help us refine experiences and make smarter decisions for user success.

  ### 11. Great platform!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shailee S.

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I like the ability to import user events based on the specific product we're using.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Certain aspects of the video embeds/gifs in embbedables/tooltips are glitchy

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Product adoption and announcement!

  ### 12. Chameleon's features are SOLID

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tommy D. | Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

What really sets Chameleon apart is how effortlessly it lets you build personalized in-app experiences—think tooltips, product tours, checklists—without needing to ping your dev team every time you want to tweak something. For anyone in product, growth, or customer success, that’s a huge win.

It’s super intuitive (yes, even for the non-technical crowd), and the drag-and-drop editor feels modern and snappy. I especially love the targeting capabilities—you can segment users based on behavior or lifecycle stage and then deliver exactly the right message at the right time. No more one-size-fits-all onboarding.

Chameleon has become a core part of how we guide users, roll out new features, and drive adoption. It's like having a Swiss Army knife for in-app communication—versatile, sleek, and genuinely useful.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

As much as I love what Chameleon enables, it’s not without its friction points.

The biggest one? The learning curve. While the builder is powerful, it can feel a bit overwhelming at first—especially if you’re new to in-product tools or don’t have prior experience with things like CSS selectors. You can get the hang of it, but be prepared to invest some upfront time figuring out how everything connects.

Another pain point is performance on complex apps—if your app is super dynamic or heavily reliant on modals and SPAs, getting experiences to load smoothly (and in the right place) sometimes takes a bit of trial and error. Their support is helpful, but it's not always instant, which can slow things down when you're trying to move fast.

Also, pricing might be a barrier for early-stage startups. It’s not outrageous, but once you start scaling usage across multiple environments or teams, costs can climb faster than expected.

All that said, none of these are deal-breakers—but they’re definitely things to be aware of before diving in.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chameleon is helping us bridge the gap between product updates and user adoption—without having to rely on constant engineering cycles. The core problem it's solving is making onboarding and feature discovery more intuitive inside the product, so users can get value faster and stay engaged longer.

Before Chameleon, we were sending emails and crossing our fingers. Now, we can launch contextual tours, in-app tooltips, and surveys exactly where and when they make sense—whether that’s guiding new users, announcing features, or gathering real-time feedback.

The biggest benefit? We can experiment fast. Our product and growth teams can ship and iterate on experiences without pulling in devs each time. It’s unlocked a more agile, user-centered approach to engagement—and it's made a measurable impact on activation and retention.

Chameleon helps us meet users where they are, and honestly, that’s become essential.

**Official Response from Pulkit Agrawal:**

> Thanks for this incredibly thoughtful review! 🙌 Love hearing that Chameleon has become your "Swiss Army knife for in-app communication"—that's exactly what we're going for.

Appreciate the constructive feedback; those are certainly topics we're looking to improve:

- Learning curve: we're working on more "automated" Experiences that leverage your styles and best practices, so you have to do less manual building, and can do more refining/tweaking as needed

- Performance on complex apps: performance has been a big effort over the last 6 months and we're hopeful you'll see benefits going forward. One feature we're currently exploring are "account-wide element rules" that can enable you to avoid conflicts.

- Support speed: all our support is technical and generally we've tried to speed this up and enable more self-service. More coming soon, but I'd love to chat about any recent experiences where we fell short.

- Pricing for startups: this unfortunately hasn't been a focus for us recently and we've kept the price the same for many years, even with a much more sophisticated and advanced product. However our Growth and Enterprise plans are flexible and scale well!

Really appreciate you taking the time to write such a detailed review. Reach out anytime at pulkit@chameleon.io if you want to discuss any of these improvements!

  ### 13. Chameleon is very solid

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rylan G.

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

They have a great clean product that works fast and easy to use

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

I wish there was more customization into how tooltips or overlays styles were, could be more modern ui widgets on our site

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Teaching users educational blurps in the right context and time

  ### 14. HelpBar Keeps Getting Better as Our Knowledge Base Grows

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

As our knowledge base continues to grow, the HelpBar’s results keep improving, allowing more clients to self-serve and resolve their support needs.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Reporting on HelpBar’s performance is currently a manual process, as it requires exporting CSV files to pull the data and review results. While the data is valuable, this is a bit cumbersome.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Through a native integration with our CRM, Chameleon enables us to communicate efficiently with dynamic segments of our customer base.

  ### 15. A pretty intuitive experience that could still use user-experience improvements

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Petteri J. | Head of Growth Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

The speed at which audiences are processed is excellent, no need to wait around and every tour is triggered as intended.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

There have been a few UI fixes, but most of the issues still remain. For example: not having the capability to open audiences in a new tab makes editing multiple audiences quite cumbersome (since you need to search first, then open audience, make edits and save, go back and redo all the previous steps).

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chameleon helps us promote new features, run marketing activations, and create onboarding flows for new users.

**Official Response from Pulkit Agrawal:**

> Glad to hear the audience processing speed is hitting the mark! ⚡

I totally feel your pain and frustration around the Audience UI; we have some ideas for how to solve this and will look to tackle a few problems and make improvements soon!

Pls do feel free to email me (pulkit at chameleon dot io) for anything else!

We've been using Chameleon mainly for in product announcements and customer surveys. I can say that it has definitely improved how we approach customer communication. I'm also looking forward to exploring the features we haven't utilized yet.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

I've not found any downsides yet, but I'm still exploring our use case.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has improved the communication between us and our customers at all tiers, where we were originally only able to keep in contact with our paid tier customers.

  ### 17. Super easy, but limited sometimes.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luiza S. | Revenue Operations Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

How easy is to set things and make them live. How easy is to apply a style.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Sharing surveys answers with other systems are possible, but not easy to set. Also the templates sometimes are quite limited when you need to combine surveys, with messages.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Increase customer engagement.

  ### 18. Easy to Use, But Customer Service Needs to Improve

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

Slow service and no support in Portuguese

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease in communicating with my clients using diverse resources

  ### 19. Satisfied — Solid product with real impact on adoption

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elor L. | Head of Product Growth, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Chameleon gives us a flexible toolkit to improve product onboarding and feature discovery without eating up dev cycles. The segmentation is useful, and it integrates well with our stack. Their team is responsive.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

The new product demos feature is below industry standard.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're using it to highlight new features and now starting to experiment nudging users toward activation milestones, and. It improved feature adoption and hope it’s would help reduce time-to-value.

  ### 20. Great insights for our team!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Chameleon stands out from competitor with its clean and easy to use interface. We tried out a competitor but ultimately went with Chameleon due to its ease of use and more competitive price point. I like the way that it looks when it overlays on or website and how we can adjust without much trouble. The tooltips, tours and surveys are very helpful for us, and for our customers. I like that they're trying to incorporate AI into their tools - this is really important to us. It was really easy to integrate into our site, it took one of our devs a couple of hours and since then, we haven't had to use dev help at all to make the tool work, which is super helpful.

Update: after using Chameleon for more than a year, it continues to be helpful and an important part of our user experience. It is so nice to have a streamlined way to share new content and features with our users through tooltips, tours and announcements...but also to have our ongoing launcher where we can have on demand training and FAQs. We're excited to continue using this and improving our user experience and overall engagement with our product.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Sometimes the editor isn't quite as intuitive as I wish it was, but once I've gone through and done it a few times, it gets easier.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a lot of users from various places around the world and using something like Chameleon for easy self serve adoption is realy important to us. Instead of us having to do a lot of virtual training - our ultimate goal with Chameleon is for a seamless start for users to get started right away without having to wait for a training.

**Official Response from Sonia Schiau:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Chameleon! We're happy that you find our interface easy to use and happy to hear about your quick implementation. It's so great to hear that Chameleon has facilitated self-serve adoption and engagement with your global user base!

We understand the importance of an intuitive editor and we continuously work to enhance our Builder and its capabilities!

  ### 21. Effective and intuitive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

As a designer, I like that it's easy to use, the builder works very well. I like the features and how I can organize my campaigns. In general my experience has been pretty positive.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Chameleon is a bit bumpy. Things seem a bit buggy.
For instance when you update something on the builder you might reload the page to make it work. Things that worked yesterday don't work today and the CSS writing is frustating.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Onboarding - We're creating onboarding tours with very little code
Banners in app - we're allowing marketing managers to place PLG messages in the product

  ### 22. Feedback on URL sslection

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

It's great that you can create the theme based on the design system; you have to have a similar look and feel to the actual product.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Constant change of URL. Limitations on selecting the URL for the Embeddables, and the glitch I faced during my experience with creating the Launcher.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps to improve the user experience on our platform and be useful for them to be able to be adapt easily and learn what they need to know about our product.

Very good product tour feature & helps you to save the UI effort on your product.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

It is a bit complex to use initially & takes some time to understand it.

  ### 25. Powerful tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben S. | Lead Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I have found Chameleon to be straightforward to use and implement. You can create something great in just a few minutes. It's easy to gain insights into the performance of your various tours and surveys. The activity feed and change log are excellent for teams, providing visibility into everyone's contributions. I also appreciate the ability to add other environments seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Sometimes, I find the design customisations to be a bit lacking – there are no options to adjust the distance between text and padding or the button padding. That might be to keep it easy-entry for some people.

I've also noticed that some of the demos feature cool popups, but I've found it frustrating trying to find the tools or settings they used to recreate them. For example I want to emulate the style of the purple walkthrough they have on the tours page. Just tell me how I can do that!

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We us Chameleon to get feedback on how people would rate our product and then any particular feedback as to why they gavce that score. We also use it to highlight new features or parts of the account experience.

  ### 26. Great for Product Tours

**Reviewed by:** Anushka B. | PMM, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Chameleon has been my go-to tool for creating product tours and running NPS surveys, it gets the job done efficiently! Definitely a solid too!!

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Have had challenges with regard to intuitivity and sometimes I do get some bugs.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In app surveys, announcements and product tours

  ### 27. Powerful user engagement tool for SaaS

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Lightweight & fully customisable features over the top of your existing product. Multi-lingual support is great. And Salesforce / API helps us target the right users.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Their Enterprise offering has had a few teething issues with data integrations and reporting. But good CSM manager.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Onboarding users, Feature Adoption and optimising existing product.

**Official Response from Pulkit Agrawal:**

> hey! Bummed to know that you only think of Chameleon as a 7/10 product -- I'd love to learn a bit more about what we can do to get to 9 or 10/10. Would you be willing to chat with me so we can resolve the data/reporting issues you might have had (and anything else letting you down)? If so grab time here: https://meetings.hubspot.com/pulkit-agrawal/15-min or shoot me an email (pulkit@chameleon.io). Thanks!

  ### 28. Essential tool in our CS stack

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tiffany D. | Customer Support Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Chameleon integrates well with our CDP and allows us to build microsurveys, banners and tours for existing customers to raise awareness and promote adoption of our product. Building new tours is intuitive, and I'm able to regularly ship new in-app programs due to the template feature that makes them easy to spin up. Support is great and responsive to our needs, and they continually ship features to make the product better. Excited about the new acquisition of Driveway too!

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

As this is the first tool of this type I've used, I can't really think of any downsides. I was not the implementation owner so I can't speak to ease of implementation, but as an end-user the only complaint is that sometimes loading the tour builder can be a bit glitchy. Otherwise I'm a happy Chameleon camper.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Driving awareness of new features, Driving adoption through product tours. Chameleon helps our customers reach their objectives faster and helps us meet our own goals around time to value.

  ### 29. Great product, excellent customer service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

The product is very easy to use and the support and engineering teams are amazing! If I run into issues, the team not only answers all my questions, but continues to follow through to help me find a resolution.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Because of our more complicated use cases, launching Chameleon requires more assistance from our internal engineering team than I anticipated. It's been a learning curve for our design and engineering teams. I also wish event-based triggers and merge tags were available, because most of our use cases center around user events.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Onboarding and educating users, to take some of the load off our support team.

  ### 30. It does the job!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I'm not sure I can tell what I like about the Chameleon, it does the job it's not the easiest to use tho.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Some of the configurations are not very intuitive.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps in customer onboarding for new products releases.

  ### 31. Great experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Trevor B. | Senior Product Writer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Kevin Brown has been the most helpful resource I've ever had the pleasure of working with on an external tool. Despite some limitations that I've had with the helpbar he's worked diligently to work with me on finding a solution and has always been pleasant and responsive. He even helped me rope in Chameleon engineers and took on conversations with Zendesk on our behalf. Very happy with the support we've received from Kevin.

Aside from this, the platform is very user friendly. I love how easy it is to navigate and build features.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Minimal limitations on the helpbar but I'm sure this is being worked on via my discussions with Kevin.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In-app guidance tours, tooltips, launchers, walkthroughs, and a helpbar that is more customizable than Zendesk's native helpchat.

  ### 32. Flexible and friendly.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** olivia m. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Work flow is simple! easy to quickly to input prepared scripts and so easy to add buttons and images. Looks put together without much effort and I love the templates so I don't have to waste time recreating the same gradients all the time.

Enjoying the AI suggestions! Helpful to unblock creativity right in the app.

The customer support rocks! Kevin and Mat are the best.

Really enjoying pushing the boundaries of what is possible with the walkthroughs as part of our training process.

Flexible enough to make it work for our special use cases, easy enough that regular announcements can be quickly spun up.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Sometimes I struggle to link things like microsurvey and tours I wish this intigration was easier/I could link things that are not yet live/published

I also wish it would keep my formate step to step ie font size and color automticly copied one step to the next etc.

It would be cool if there was a built in color picker!

I wish the Helpbar was more friendly to be used in multiple products on the back end. It is currently a challenge to publish this without disrupting other products using the helpbar.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spend a lot of time live training right now and moving towards using chameleon as one of many elements to replace that. We have old UI that isn't that intuitive with clients with a lot of turn over so tours and call outs help bring attention flow where it needs to go.

Increasing use it for internal and external annoucments

  ### 33. Great experience for a Product Designer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Possibility of use (research, tour, etc.)

I haven't used another platform in the same way, but this one seemed very intuitive and practical. What also helped me learn was that my team created support material.

Most of our products use Chameleon today.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Honestly, I don't think I've used it enough to have that perception.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me, with an in-product NPS survey that allowed me to speak to my user more effectively than via email

  ### 34. Good Product Experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

The built out tours and tooltips are super easy to follow and helpful. The dashboard is nice to see at quick glance for engagement. It's been a very easy system to learn and utlize. Implmentation was done by someone at our organization, however it was seamless so their implmenation from the Chameleon team seems to have been done well. I have not had to use the system too much or engaged with customer support at this time, so cannot speak to those areas. Overall this has been a good product to work with.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

I wish there was an easier way to make templates for use cases for our in-app messaging.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Assisting our company in getting messaging up in our product to customers when something is not functioning properly and may affect thier ability to use the product.

  ### 35. Great tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kate D. | Customer Lifecycle Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Easy to use once you get familiar with how it's set up. I had never used a tool like this previously and was up in running in a day to launch a new marketing initiative.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

The terminology isn't very inituitive. Having the nav bar drop down when you click on Embedables to show the options that live inder embedables would be helpful.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing us to show important messages like new features or changes to features to our customers who might not see the email notification.

  ### 36. Chameleon has improved the in-product experience.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

- Quick launching and overall ease of use of dashboard
- Good integration with CRM systems
- Simple

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

- Editing chameleon messages (specifically tours) can be finnicky (e.g., difficult to edit text)
- Limited analytics

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to using Chameleon, we didn't have a clear way of communcating to customers who were using our product (outside of email). Using chameleon has allowed us to drive important CTAs, urgent notifications, and product upsells.

  ### 37. Very easy to use, with great new features

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Ease of use; creating tours, surveys, and any of the other components it's very simple.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Better way of handling production vs other development environments.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping improve user activation and adoption.

  ### 38. Great customer service on an important tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I continue to deeply value Chameleon's customer service. Our CSM is very proactive and will test things for us, inform us directly on outages, even provide sample code to work with.

As a tool, Chameleon saves us a lot of time and stress. We use Chameleon to build, segment, and prioritize in-app communications so that we don't flood our users with emails. Chameleon has drastically cut down our email sends and Chamelonquickly became our most frequenly used communication channel, but one more suited to handle that volume. If I was worried about customers seeing more than three emails a week, I could relatively easily make it so they never receive the fourth email, but setting up a delay would be much harder. With Chameleon, it's very simple for me to manage how many in-app modals customers are seeing and ensure that if it's too many, the next modals are just in a backlog to view once the customer is eligible/unsaturated.

We had to re-implement Chameleon this year and I was surprised by how very easy and quick it was. Chameleon's team was a huge help as well.

Chameleon's use case is invaluable for any modern SaaS product, and there's no competitor doing it better. It's so simple to use and quick to get started. At the end of the day the majority of our blockers are internal, and while Chameleon could do a little more as a product that would help us unblock them, I do see them as genuinely involved and motivated in keeping every customer, and they have made meaningful incremental improvements where possible.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

As a customer marketer I completely understand wanting to encourage strong feature adoption, but Chameleon has often tried to encourage me to adopt features I've already explained won't work for us or aren't compatible. Meanwhile, features that could genuinely improve our adoption, like permission settings that would allow us to bring more users in, are gated behind an additional paywall. Chameleon is a great company but can continue to improve by criticially evaluating their pay structure and truly listening empathetically to users when we explain why something won't work for us - I use Chameleon for it to create less work for us, not more.

We have had some issues with bugginess or modals not placing where they should. Chameleon's CS team is always very attentive and proactive, but these issues have sometimes taken much longer to resolve than I'd like. This is in part due to how our app is designed, so your mileage may vary - but I wish it was a tad more compatible with our app. If not with our app, it would at least be nice to see more consistency across features for different types of in-app experiences.

Chameleon has a number of integrations, which are useful and often fairly plug and play, but each I have tried have had certain limitations in use. I'd like to see Chameleon go deeper more than wider moving forward.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Chameleon most regularly to replace redundant communications we would otherwise have to send through other channels. It's more efficient for the business and we believe ensures a better holistic customer experience. We have also used Chameleon for self-service onboarding enhancements and to deflect common customer support topics. These projects are often approached as testing for something that would be more permanently developed and implemented by our Prod/Eng team.

  ### 39. Chameleon at a Glance: Exceptional Features with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica R. | Manager, UX/UI, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

As the lead UX designer overseeing a cloud-based SaaS product, Chameleon has significantly streamlined our workflow by enabling effortless creation of specialized announcements, interactive tours, tooltips, and in-app microsurveys. This has empowered our team to gather valuable user insights without relying on developers to implement these changes. The user interface is intuitively designed, providing seamless navigation and offering a diverse array of templates that expedite the integration of valuable enhancements into our product. Particularly noteworthy is their builder tool, which facilitates real-time customization within the application environments, allowing for immediate visualization and overlay on the interface.

Chameleon excels in providing customization options tailored to specific user scenarios, enabling precise alignment with our objectives. While not the most economical option in the market, Chameleon's pricing reflects a fair value proposition for the extensive features and functionalities it offers. Despite competition, Chameleon remains my preferred choice due to its comprehensive offerings. Additionally, their responsive support team consistently addresses inquiries and concerns within a commendable 24-hour timeframe.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

During my year-plus experience utilizing Chameleon, I've encountered a notable number of bugs within the platform. Additionally, with the introduction of new features, there have been instances where basic user experience functionalities, such as the ability to undo or delete certain actions, have been sacrificed. For instance, the recent release of the 'Helpbar' exemplifies this trend. As a seasoned UX designer familiar with the intricacies of product development, particularly during minimum viable product (MVP) launches, I understand the pressure to prioritize feature releases, even if they may lack completeness.

However, I empathize that such decisions can lead to user frustration when essential UX features are compromised. It would greatly benefit users if Chameleon ensured the operational integrity of fundamental UX functionalities before deployment. Delaying the rollout to guarantee a fully functional feature would undoubtedly provide more value than introducing something that may break or cannot be used effectively.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chameleon has been instrumental in resolving critical workflow inefficiencies. By simplifying the creation of tailored announcements, interactive tours, tooltips, and in-app microsurveys, Chameleon has empowered our team to swiftly gather invaluable user insights. This independence from developer reliance has notably expedited our implementation processes, allowing us to pivot and innovate seamlessly.

  ### 40. Chameleon has helped us onboard, teach and show to our users the whole capability of our app.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Macarena M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Tours are very helpful, specially the hotspots that allows us to show new features and teach our users how to use them.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

I'm still waiting on the mobile version so we can use it on our mobile app as well.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chameleon is helping us to quickly create welcome tours and teach our users how to use the new features of our platform. It is so fast and easy to use that we don't need to spend time and effort from our development area.

  ### 41. Chameleon is great

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christie C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

I like the editor builders and the ability to see exactly what you're doing as you do it. Also excellent customer support.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

I've noticed it can be a little bit buggy. It also isn't extremely intuitive in some places.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting our access to a chat feature and also help resources for users.

  ### 42. Good experience setting things up, with areas of improvement like filtering and creating segments

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Saves a lot of engineering effort for things that non-devs can set. Relatively easy to implement. Great customer support to clarify cases.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Not easy to know how to set segments. Filtering seems a bit clunky to use.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to create awareness of how our platform works and key concepts users need to learn. Chameleon help us create and implement banners and short walkthroughs that explain those without much engineering effort.

  ### 43. An easy tool for a marketer to use to make announcements & promote events

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

As a marketer, I use Chameleon for quick announcements in the UI in relation to our product and our customer events. Its really easy to use the templates for announcements, add images, and preview the announcement. You can integrate with Marketo and other systems to build target audiences.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Sometimes building out the segments can be glitchy.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Makes it easy to introduce messaging in-app.

  ### 44. They are constantly updating the platform with great features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

The overall concept has been very helpul for user onboarding. The statistics are very helpful to gauge how helpful experiences are.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

For some reason, flows/links break. I think it would be helpful if there was an indicator that stated that. For example, today I learned that an experience tour was not functioning properly. Had I not clicked into, I would not have known. I had to verify what was happening and make sure the links I had in place were correct. The links were correct but the tour would display my companies 404 page. It took a couple attempts to get it back on track.

I dislike the colour picker for customizing a tour. You have to add a specific hex code vs being able to also explore what colours you can add.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The reason we adopted this tool is for continuous user onboarding. To guide users to value and teach them about our platform.

  ### 45. Chameleon

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eduardo K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Their features and capabilities, especially regarding integration with other tools (like Segment, Mixpanel, Intercom, and much more). With Chameleon, you can create various types of experiences dedicated to users. On top of a solid and constantly improved product, their CSM team is fantastic - always available to help build and deliver value to our customers.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

I don't think there is any major downside, and I'm confident they will keep improving the product.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Chameleon as our digital adoption solution, mainly to create and deliver self-service onboarding experiences. Since we signed with them, we have been able to run several A/B tests with ease and improve our FTUE onboarding experiences, leading to an improve in our top-of-funnel metrics.

  ### 46. An elegant solution with great customisation

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Implementation was was easy and there are ltos of features and customisation.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

All the customisation can be daunting and some nomenclature isnt the best.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is allowing us to communciatw with our user base and adopt our product better.

  ### 47. Easy way to interact with users in-product

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

It's easy to create simple modals or microsurveys to collect feedback from users quickly. The experiment feature works well to help optimize important interventions.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

Segementing can be tedious. Both setting up the cohorts along with spot checking after something is published can take some time.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chameleon helps us commuicate with users in-product without development effort required. This helps our product team implement and iterate on ideas more quickly.

**Official Response from Pulkit Agrawal:**

> Totally understand that creating Segments to help target users can be tedious and take quite a few clicks, and so we've worked on a major improvement:

Now you can mix-and-match the Segments you've created when setting up a Target Audience. That means you have to create fewer unique Segments and can just use a handful of basic Segments.

We'd love to continue making improvements to increase the speed of how quickly you can build audiences. Are there any particular aspects that were frustrating or time-consuming?

Other improvements we have in the mix include:

- Easier testing (as a specific user)
- More visibility on who is within any audience or Segment
- Improvements to the layout and UI of Segments

Creating Segments/target audiences is so valuable to customers and we want to ensure we can continue to improve the ease of use of Chameleon, along with regularly introducing powerful new functionality (e.g. we will be offering "custom events" for targeting soon too!)

  ### 48. Lots of customization available

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Chamelon has a lot of customization options to make in-product messages look as seamless and helpful to users. I especially appreciate the ability to have pop up modals when a cursor hovers over a specific element, so we can target messaging based on user intent behavior.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

I wish there was an easier way to view and organize all the different in-product messaging that are running.

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chameleon helps us put in-product messaging more easily without having to hard code it.

  ### 49. Great tool to help new users onboard but with some limitations

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

Provides tons of options to customize the experiences and make them look native.
The walkthroughs are also great and full customizable.

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

This tool can quickly become expensive if you need to integrate it with the rest of the ecosystem. I wish some integrations (Hubspot) would be on all plans.

The tooltips are also not as good as what some of their competitors offer.

Lack of analytics.

No live chat for support

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps new users understand how to navigate our product during their trial. It also helps us guide those users.

**Official Response from Pulkit Agrawal:**

> Hi, thanks for the positive review and happy you like the customizability 😀

- Hubspot integration: we can add that to your account for a small upgrade as part of an unlisted plan that's between "Startup" and "Growth". Please email me (pulkit at chameleon dot io)

- Tooltips: would love to know what's missing! Our Tooltips allow you to add custom icons as triggers, include media (photos/videos), multiple buttons, with different actions etc. but always interested in improving.

- Analytics: we are intentionally not building a product analytics platform, because in our opinion a single product can't be the best at in-product experiences (there's still so much to build in this category) and also product analytics (which is its own category with big players like Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, Fullstory etc.) However we do provide analytics on Chameleon Experiences and have recently improved these to show flow diagrams and more data. Lmk if you think there are any specific improvements to make on this.

- Live chat: similar to above, we think chat belongs closer to your support ticketing tool / help desk and have deep integrations with Zendesk, Intercom, Help Scout etc. We also offer a simple AI-enabled Q&A via our free HelpBar product so you may want to consider that.

Anyway hope to hear from you!

  ### 50. Great potential but very buggy

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jozef S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Chameleon?**

- When everything works it's quite easy to set things up (Spoiler: often it doesn't)
- It's relatively powerful with what it allows a non-developer to do
- Customer support is fast
- Working hard on new features

**What do you dislike about Chameleon?**

- Very buggy, I had to debug a lot, and many times the problem was on Chameleon side
- It kept on breaking without any changes on our side (new bugs introduced, settings somehow reverted, ...)
- For the amount of trouble it's quite pricy
- Not as powerful as one would expect

**What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it for implementing a tour for our Trial to explain the platform and help peoeple to get the most out of it.
And the idea was to have a platform we can use to experiment with and change things without a need of a developer.
