As a medical scribe in an emergency room I am extremely familiar with the many aspects of Cerner. I have spent endless hours in the past 3 years creating lengthy detailed documents in cerner. The greatest benefit of cerner is the many details that are available to be found within in the system. Not simply the patients previous visit within the emergency room, but as well as previous hospital admission and hospital related urgent cares. Information is easily pulled in through the system with little work required on behalf of the one creating the chart, this includes PMHx, FHx, medications, allergies, and all diagnostic testing done while in the emergency room. It has it's finicky moments when cerner will shut down at random, most often whether or not the document saved within 2 minutes it will reappear with no details lost.
