## Cequence Security Reviews
  ### 1. Reliable API Traffic Visibility and Bot Attack Protection

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** karthik k. | Cyber Security Leader, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

Cequence Security provides strong visibility into API traffic and helps identify automated bot attacks, abuse patterns, and potential API vulnerabilities. The platform is very useful for detecting abnormal behavior and protecting applications from credential stuffing, scraping, and other automated threats. I also appreciate the analytics dashboards and detailed request-level insights which help during investigations and threat analysis. The platform integrates well with existing security infrastructure and helps improve overall API security posture.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

One challenge with Cequence Security is that the initial setup and tuning can take time (may be years from my experience), especially when onboarding large or complex environments with many APIs similar to my org. The alert noise can sometimes require additional tuning to reduce false positives. Additionally, understanding some of the analytics or policy configurations may require deeper familiarity with the platform and steep learning and it is not straight forward , so improved documentation and simplified workflows would help new users adopt it more quickly

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cequence Security provides strong visibility into API traffic and helps identify automated bot attacks, abuse patterns, and potential API vulnerabilities. The platform is very useful for detecting abnormal behavior and protecting applications from credential stuffing, scraping, and other automated threats.

  ### 2. Exceptional API Visibility

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shabeer S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

I find that Cequence Security provides complete API visibility, which is a big plus for me. The unified dashboard is really helpful, as it allows me to see everything in one place. I also value the comprehensive API discovery features. Additionally, the support is good, which makes a real difference.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

Yeah. The initial setup wise, it is a little complex. And also the policy setup is little complex in the understanding at the first

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use Cequence Security for complete API visibility, which we lacked before. It allows us to see all APIs passing through the gateway and helps in stopping threats.

  ### 3. The quiet efficiency of this software stopped stealthy bot attacks

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin M. | Data Security Officer, Education Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

The thing I like about Cequence Security is that it identifies legitimate complex user behaviors and automated abuse without causing friction to our real students. An example of this is that it can distinguish a student who can jump in and quickly access various course modules and a bot combing through to gather content. It also provides us with some truly fine-grained details of how attackers are probing our less well known public APIs, enabling us to pre-emptively harden them before they become the route of a successful vulnerability.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

It took more practical time than we had anticipated to carry out the initial fine tuning in order to differentiate between legitimate power users and advanced automated activity which is specific to our education platform. These also include being sometimes difficult to explain some of the more granular event information in a manner that can make sense of it to non technical team members who may need context when the logs are technical in nature.

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We could see discreet yet ineffective efforts to rig our limited capacity course settings and funnel out whole libraries of digital courseware. This threatened our intellectual property and was a threat to fair access by our real students. The windows of the registrations are now fair and well-organized with the implementation of Cequence Security. We are fully aware as to who is actually consuming our content and who is trying to take advantage of creating our learning environment.

  ### 4. We finally found all those weird apis and stopped the bad guys using them

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alina B. | Security Analyst, Hospitality, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

Cequence Security is good for providing strong API security and effective bot detection. It provides more than just traffic regulation; it monitors complex behaviour of bots that even look like real users. In practise, it helps us prevent attackers from taking over our accounts and keeps them from accessing our backend data, providing details of the methods they use.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

While Cequence is very useful, setting it up takes time and a lot of effort. We had to work out the details and use expert advice to incorporate it into what we use currently. It was necessary to learn a bit before we could use the customised dashboards properly which made the system not very user-friendly at the start.

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cequence Security is primarily solving the major problem of sophisticated online fraud and API abuse driven by automated bots. Before Cequence, we were constantly reacting to account takeover attempts and scraping, often overwhelmed by the volume and complexity, leading to compromised user accounts and unreliable data. Now, Cequence automatically identifies and mitigates these threats in real-time, significantly reducing fraudulent activity and protecting both our users and our business operations without constant manual intervention.

  ### 5. Now our team can finally proactively block threats and bot attacks!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marco P. | Application Security Analyst, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

The good part of Cequence Security that I have most appreciated is how well it is in identifying multiple threat types including bots and app threats. It works well with other systems that we have in place now like our SIEM so that in real time we are getting threat information without adding to our workload. It’s particularly useful because it doesn’t generate many false positives, and this helped to enhance our security as well as our response time.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

One problem with Cequence Security is it is hard to dial in the right amount of specificity for more specific or uncommon threats. It’s good for threat detection in the broad but adjusting some things for niche security concerns was hard. This sometimes results in either losing the value of alerts or creating so much noise that it hinders our speed to respond to critical events. It also works with other tools, but while the sync is a bit faster between platforms.

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The protection of our web applications using Cequence Security has been a game changer, and especially in the case of zeroing out automated bot attacks. This allows us to remediate vulnerabilities before they become major headaches for our web traffic and leaves it as secure as possible. It automates much of the threat detection such that our team can focus our effort on higher priority tasks than burking in alerts. Reducing manual input in security tasks and significantly increasing operational efficiency.

  ### 6. The peace of mind we needed in our digital world

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff L. | Operations automation specialist, Broadcast Media, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

I am really fond of how Cequence Security solves the problem of protecting our APIs and web applications. This is a game changer for us because it can detect and mitigate automated attacks in real time. This used to take us so much time from monitoring and responding to security incidents, now we can do other things. What’s more, the platform’s machine learning is helping us save time and resources by learning from new threats and adapting to them.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

So do not take me wrong, I still believe that Cequence Security is a great tool I still think the interface can be confusing sometimes. So as you can probably imagine it gets very confusing when one is trying to navigate in between all the features and sub features. Furthermore, as with any kind of system integration, there have been one or two incidences where the system did not entirely harmonize with other security appliances that we employ hence leading to a slightly disrupted operation.

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cequence Security helped us solve our automatic threats and protect our APIs and web applications. Our platform deployment saved us many hours following up on security alerts and later blocking potentially dangerous IP addresses. Since using Cequence Security's automatic threat monitoring our security incidents decreased while allowing us to focus our time on other essential work. The platform made our team more productive and provides real security reassurance.

  ### 7. Protecting web applications from automated threats has never been easier!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel B. | Fraud prevention specialist, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

What I like most about Cequence Security is that it provides all round protection to web applications against all kind of cyber threats. What has been critically important in securing our online services is that the platform does a great job detecting and thwarting automated attacks like bots. I also like how smoothly it fits within our existing security setup: the simple connection to our SIEM system so we can centralize security monitoring and incident response.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

Cequence Security may be slightly cumbersome to set up initially in some areas particularly when defining the rules to use in fighting certain threats. The software, on the other hand, is rather strong and valuable but it did take some time to get them optimized. Also, the reporting features can be more realized and they are simple in use. It becomes slightly difficult to retrieve detailed information should this be required and this at times makes our response rates relatively slow during an incident.

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cequence Security has been something of a lifeline to counteract these bot driven attacks that threatened our services. This means that a number of various fraud attempts have been successfully detected and prevented and out systems remain operational without the need for constant interference of our security specialists. There are now fewer issues that require our attention on the operational level, which in turn allowed for increasing attention to security and implementing more preventive systems.

  ### 8. Effective measures for advanced cyber threats

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Diana L. | API Product Manager, Newspapers, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

I like the way that Cequence Security always protects us from advanced attacks, without overwhelming us with too much noise around the alerts. The software is always updated, and the repeated updates ensure the software is always reliable enough to stay ahead of new attack methods. Its resource efficiency impressed me as it doesn’t interfere with our systems or screw up workflows – a great thing for a busy environment. That’s reliable and quietly gets the job done in the background.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

The one downside of Cequence Security is that there is no straightforward communication between platforms on a single dashboard. Some parts are not as clear as others when trying to fix a potential threat, which is why it can take additional time to get the details worked out. Because we’re trying to interpret the data, this sometimes slows down decision making. Explanation or contextual insights would be provided better way for making quick and confident act when a time sensitive issue arises.

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In many ways, Cequence Security has really done a good job at making the proverbial problems stemming from unwanted traffic or malicious activities as minimal as possible. That's why it is enabling a safer environment for our operations so we can operate with growth without constant fear. It prevents attacks early thus reducing stress for our team and keeping things going smoothly. We are able to focus on delivering better results, unaffected by security concerns and become more productive and confident.

  ### 9. We strengthened protection against automated bot attacks

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juliet R. | Network Security Analyst, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

Cequence Security’s capacity to detect and counter automated bot attacks is perhaps one of the most impressive things that I came across. Its an AI driven solution that immediately recognizes and covers risks to our web applications. As our current architecture is integrated with the company’s SIEM and WAF systems, it is easy to add the solution to our security defense. Additionally, it increases controllability in acute security incidents and the convenient dashboard helps to manage them.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

A disadvantage of Cequence Security is that the software is not as detailed in terms of the number of analyses that can be done. This hampers the opportunity of organisational security incidents analysis and may call for additional work. But it is compatible with other security tools and if they provide more guidelines and documentation about how it can be integrated further then it will prove beneficial. This sometimes results in a certain level of latency in fully capitalizing on those integration opportunities.

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the automated bot attacks on the web infrastructure, Cequence Security provides a strong solution in containing them. This it does at high speeds and proactively manages these threats so as to guarantee uninterrupted service and security of data. This enhances our security systems and the confidence of customers in our business. Intuitive interface is used in our team to handle security process related actions and it has increased efficiency to a great extent.

  ### 10. We effectively reduced cyberattack risks in our company!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anna G. | Senior Cybersecurity Analyst, Management Consulting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

I personally like Cequence Security a lot for its excellent threat detection features. The simplicity with which the software can be used is simply impressive because it allows one to monitor and deal with possible security threats. As for its integration with the current tools, such as our SIEM solution, it was smooth which provided for a broad level of security management. We have included quite many features like automatic threat containing and rich analytics which has boosted our security system tremendously.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

Cequence Security has some drawbacks and one of them is that it reacts by sending out false positives and this leads to alert and interruption. This has impacted our operations in a manner that has stretched the concentration away from where it is supposed to be. Also, the first time setting up in the networks was not smooth at all as it was time consuming and tiresome to do it initially right. It is a highly flexible tool with a lot of features, but the confusing interface make it the best tool to do the actual work.

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cequence Security is helping us address our primary concern of identifying and dealing with security threats efficiently. This has been very advantageous to us since it has enhanced the safeguarding of our data and the minimization of cyber attacks. The functionalities as well as their compatibility with our current systems have enhanced our security processes. It has had a positive impact on our team, because it offers specific and concrete recommendations and reduces all the processes associated with threat handling.

  ### 11. Cequence Security has fortified our defenses against automated attacks

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicoletta R. | Cybersecurity Infrastructure Specialist, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

What I find truly special about Cequence Security in my cybersecurity role is how it alters its choices to suit infrastructure necessities. Whether on location or in the clouds, Cequence Security effortlessly fits the surroundings giving steady protection cross platforms. This adaptability with small fake positives guarantees genuine users experience no interruptions from protection making certain smooth online experience while repulsing aggressors.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

One place Cequence Security could get better is in how they teach users and write papers. While their tools are strong, making the advanced things easier for all people to use with complete teaching programs and clearer papers would make it easier to use. Giving more things for learning and help would let our team use all the good things Cequence Security can do, making our security stronger in the best way and making sure all people on our team are good at dealing with and stopping threats.

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cequence Security helps greatly in my role by preventing tricky bot assaults and keeping coders from infiltrating our frameworks. It catches and halts these dangers promptly, implying we don't have as numerous security issues and our client's data remains ensured. By breaking down how these assaults work, it assists us with remaining ready for whatever new stunts coders may attempt, making our online things more secure and keeping our clients' trust.

  ### 12. Bot protection tool/solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Wholesale | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

We are using the SaaS solution and this was one of the requerments from our side for a tool like this. You have a team of specialist there who can help you with creating your policies and rules, their knowledge is amazing. It's very easy to start and to use it.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

There is some latency in detection and response - the rules will have to "learn" before they start blocking or mitigating the traffic. Cequence is working on a CAPTCHA-like solution but it is till not available

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many. We had a big issue with account takover or extortion type of attacks and they are now successfully mitigated. Of course, the bad guys will always try to do something else, or to improve their toolsngs, but you have Cequence Prime to look at them and ack on time.

  ### 13. Cequence is a solid solution for bot defence

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Cequence Security?**

We reviewed a number of providers in this space, but settled on Cequence for a number of reasons:

1. Quality of the sales and support team in the pitch stage and being atuned to our needs
2.Reference checks from those who currently use them - which included a range of orgs from small to very large
3. We run the ususal tests on our side and our team were impressed with the product and the overall value and price as compared to others.

**What do you dislike about Cequence Security?**

Their Zendesk ticketing system is a real challenge, we preferred dealing with a direct contact via email. Whilst zendesk is good from a tracking perspective, it's lost the personality of dealing with a direct individual as various folks pick up and manage a ticket over time.

The pricing has creeped up after our first renewal, but overall we're still very happy.

**Recommendations to others considering Cequence Security:**

Make sure you review a number of providers and be absolutely clear about what your specific needs are to ensure their solution maps well to your specific circumstances.

**What problems is Cequence Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our main focus is bot defence - our site is very large and has a number of bots attempting to either scrape data, but more importantly attempt to create dummy accounts or attempt to login to existing accounts. Cequence has massively reduced this and has provided a far better overall solution than our previous provider.
