Celtx makes script writing fairly intuitive with the ability to list your character names, select actions and generally format a proper film script. There is very little that this program cannot do to help a budding writer get their first script off the ground. Also, it allows you to test the software for free before purchase. The price per month makes this a bit of an expensive solution. Though fairly reasonably priced for the solution overall if you are already running a business in this area, for someone who is just starting in film production, having extra costs monthly may prove a bit difficult. I paid about $130 for the service and it's created more problems than I could have ever expected.

As I would return to my script, I could swear updates weren't being saved. At first I thought it was all in my head. Then one day 8 pages vanished, even though I religiously save my work. There were so many other issues--page counts kept randomly changing, changes weren't being saved, it takes forever for the script to load when you re open it, I'm not able to delete text (I have to erase letters one by one). SO MANY ISSUES and new ones just keep popping up on a weekly basis.

When I brought this to their attention, they had no solutions. At one point, I had to start a new ticket because they just stopped responding. There were so many problems (I haven't even typed them all out in this review because there are so many and it's very time consuming and aggravating to properly explain them), so I asked if I could get on the phone with them to explain or have a screen sharing session with a technician. They said no, because they only provide support through email.

This has been the biggest waste. Not just of money, but of time and peace of mind. When you spend so much time writing, it's a nightmare thinking that your changes may not be saved. Every day, there are new bugs and absolutely no remedies. They haven't offered to do ANYTHING.

I love the ability to access Celtx online. I used this program in my screenwriting courses during undergrad, and it was a downloadable program. Now that it is in an online cloud format, I can work on my scripts anywhere, regardless of which device I am accessing them. I miss having Celtx as an installable program, as the format that I used prior is no longer available. While there are many advantages to having a cloud-based design, it is limited by having access to the internet, which you did not need to have when it was a free downloadable program. While there is an "offline mode" for Celtx it is limited to users using their free trial or paid subscription. Celtx is super fun and easy to use! A lot can be done on this very efficient software. One can write scripts for films, television, music videos, or even short format scripts. It comes packed with ready-to-use templates for all sorts of writing projects - film, theatre, audio-visual, audio play, comic books, and novels. It is also great for storyboarding. When writing, it offers a great advantage by automatically identifying whether it is an action, a dialogue, a parenthetical, or anything else. It really makes writing scripts fun and organized. I love everything about the software. Although I still have a functional desktop version with myself, I think they have transferred everything online now.
