(1 reviews) - Performance Issues (1 reviews) ## Celtx Reviews ### 1. \ **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** sabrina a. | writer director producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025 **What do you like best about Celtx?** it help my staff keep on track.it helps with scheduling. the program does a lot for you which help you with time. the area to ask question is there. let you up load your script and edit. keeps you on task and save every step. its great for a beginner or someone who is experiaced. **What do you dislike about Celtx?** in oder to fix the budget you have to catalog. sometime its a little confusing. you can seach a title. the i bot thing need to go. you might want to have people who can really help. maybe have a section with claasses on how to. that would be a bigger help **What problems is Celtx solving and how is that benefiting you?** it help us keep an eye on the budget and what you need work on. it help us keep organized and see eachother progress. ### 2. But even that would most likely be a lie. **What do you dislike about Celtx?** I paid about $130 for the service and it's created more problems than I could have ever expected. As I would return to my script, I could swear updates weren't being saved. At first I thought it was all in my head. Then one day 8 pages vanished, even though I religiously save my work. There were so many other issues--page counts kept randomly changing, changes weren't being saved, it takes forever for the script to load when you re open it, I'm not able to delete text (I have to erase letters one by one). SO MANY ISSUES and new ones just keep popping up on a weekly basis. When I brought this to their attention, they had no solutions. At one point, I had to start a new ticket because they just stopped responding. There were so many problems (I haven't even typed them all out in this review because there are so many and it's very time consuming and aggravating to properly explain them), so I asked if I could get on the phone with them to explain or have a screen sharing session with a technician. They said no, because they only provide support through email. This has been the biggest waste. Not just of money, but of time and peace of mind. When you spend so much time writing, it's a nightmare thinking that your changes may not be saved. Every day, there are new bugs and absolutely no remedies. They haven't offered to do ANYTHING. Please save yourself this headache and either buy a trusted software with actual tech support or write your own script through Word or google docs. **Recommendations to others considering Celtx:** I do not recommend Celtx. **What problems is Celtx solving and how is that benefiting you?** None. ### 3. Brace yourself for bad news. **Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Zachary (Zack) A. | Screenwriter, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2020 **What do you like best about Celtx?** That it was free, and backed up in the cloud *when I first started using it, 10 years ago* **What do you dislike about Celtx?** I don't often write bad reviews so it's with a heavy heart that I do this, but for the love of all things good, Dudes and Dudettes, save yourself the heart ache and dish out some money to buy yourself a REAL screenwriting software! Tried downloading the app for my mac after getting a new one, could only get it in spanish. Nightmare to use. Tried re-uploading my celtx files to the cloud and working from there: EVEN WORSE. I hvae lost countless hours of work with bugs and crashes, but mostly, it just DOESN SAVE YOUR WORK. It's actually mind-boggling. It literally the ONLY THING WE CARE ABOUT in this type of produce and well, they are simply not delivering a stable and reliable product. If this were a car, it would have been taken off the market YEARS AGO. **Recommendations to others considering Celtx:** Back up all your scripts to your harddrive and the cloud (NOT Celtx's cloud) and export them all to PDFs to be safe. DON'T have mutliple people working on the same document at the same time. You've been warned. **What problems is Celtx solving and how is that benefiting you?** UNSAVED WORK! HOURS LOST!! Multiple times! Want to work on the same script project with 2 or more people? FORGET IT. Want to casually update scripts from teh web? PRepare to have your changes UNSAVED even after you back it up by PDF and CTRL S. Heartbreaking and an absolute nightmare. ### 4. It is really useful having a script you're writing on accessed in this way. I 've genuinely loved it. It's easy to use and looks super nice. However... **What do you dislike about Celtx?** The list is too long - but basically, if you want your script held hostage, for them not to care or take the issues seriously. Use Celtx. There are glitches in the programme too that have not been ironed out - which are super annoying. Not as bad as not being able to download your work - but frustrating all the same. Sadly, their idea of a Helpdesk is a joke. It takes them 24 hours to even get back to you and even then they don't do anything. Customer service is everything -they haven't worked that out yet. Honestly, I've had an absolute nightmare of a week - I missed two really, really important deadlines and had work wiped off. A disaster. Have I had a call? Do they care? No. They work at the pace of a snail and clearly do not think wasting someones entire work week a big deal. I'm going back to final draft - they answered the phone really quickly and called me back. If you rely on your work and don't want to get it lost and need problems to be dealt with quickly and taken seriously use this programme at your peril. **Recommendations to others considering Celtx:** Honestly, for that one catastrophic experience, I 've had - It's just not worth it.
