## CData Virtuality Reviews
  ### 1. Great ETL tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pierre B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2024

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

We've been using Data Virtuality for more than 4 years to collect data from Salesforce into our datalake: setup has been easy, the service level was good, and the support team was up and ready to help when we happened to have some incidents on the pipeline. Also, the tool is very cost-effective in comparison to other ETL tools (Fivetran, Stitch, etc), which was one of the main reasons for us chosing it at the time. I warmly recommend this tool for any data team wishing to collect 3rd party data at a competitive price.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

I did not see any real downside with this tool

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Replication of Salesforce data in our datalake. Helped us build sales efficiency dashboars in Tableau to improve the performance of our Sales team.

  ### 2. Powerful Business Intelligence Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stefan Z. | Data Warehouse Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2023

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

Data Virtuality is a powerful tool which easily integrates a wide range of different data sources. Every data source then can be accessed with SQL. It also has a powerful job scheduler and with its ability to write procedural SQL you can write complex ETL pipelines in a very short time. As a virtualization middleware it also allows real time access to data sources and cross data source joins to get ad-hoc insights.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

More information about what happens "inside" the software would be great, especially when encountering a bug or unexpected behavior. But the customer support is always available for help, they have a very fast response time and provide solutions or short time workarounds if needed.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data Virtuality helped us to integrate and consolidate a large number of data sources, internal and external ones. We were able to create a single point of truth for all data in our organization. It made data-driven business decisions very easy.

  ### 3. Easy and comfortable to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2024

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

We used data virtuality pipes. I liked that the setup is straight forward and that even in case of a problem, we always knew quickly what was wrong.
Customer Support was also helpful in resolving issues quickly.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

Nothing comes to mind. We did also use competitors for some edge cases, but if possible I would have used pipes for everything because of the better price.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it for data ingestion to tableau

  ### 4. -	A powerful data virtualization & ETL tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2023

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

Enables real-time data access from any source. It essentially allows us to treat any connected sources as a SQL database
Provides various caching capabilities and gives control over the methods of performance optimizations such as distributed query optimization, in-memory caching, and materialization in a 3rd party database
I am using procedural SQL to automate workflows and it works well

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

Onboarding materials and best practices are rather scarce. Good skills using SQL and ideally knowing how databases work are required to be productive right out of the box

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-	Data Virtuality is the main data integration tool that we’re using for accessing our customer's data to run services on top of it, internally for self-service analysis, and providing datasets from various sources to internal stakeholders. It also supports our data integration and ETL/ELT processes, offering real-time data access when needed.

  ### 5. -	The single source of data truth powering our BI & data science offering

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2023

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

-	The extensive library of connectors. The Data Virtuality team also develops them on request which we need occasionally for new clients
-	The powerful SQL engine. It lets us completely customize every aspect of the data flow from the sources to a variety of data tools
-	Data Virtuality allows us to move and migrate data as well which we need for certain APIs where live-querying data would run into API limits

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

Administrating the server can be somewhat complex, leading to the need for running scripts as opposed to using the GUI.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-	We've found Data Virtuality to be an essential data integration tool for the BI and data science services we offer to our clients. Its compatibility with databases, APIs, and files has allowed us to work effectively with our clients data.
-	One notable aspect of Data Virtuality is the SQL editor, which has been particularly useful for data discovery and data modeling. This editor allows our team to create custom queries, streamline data transformation and manipulation processes, and derive insights from multiple data sources. As a result, we have been able to offer much more personalized and high-quality BI and data science services to our clients.

  ### 6. Excellent Amazon Functionality

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff K. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2022

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

The pipes are preconfigured with all the available data sources.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

You need to know the data dictionaries to understand all the sources.

**Recommendations to others considering CData Virtuality:**

If you are looking for Amazon API access for Seller API and Advertising API there is no better solution.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

API integration out of the box with no coding required. We were able to deliver business value to our clients with little to no overhead costs.

  ### 7. DataVirtuality Pipes automates your ETL with excellent support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2020

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

We used DataVirtuality for Salesforce and Jira data and were able to customize absolutely everything we needed to. Support was really excellent -- friendly and quick!

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

The Pipes Web UI was not very intuitive and sometimes totally inaccurate. Custom pipe definitions were tricky to get right and lacked version control.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data transport (extract and load into a Redshift DWH) for Salesforce and Jira. DataVirtuality Pipes enabled us to get up and running very quickly without having to maintain our own infrastructure.

  ### 8. Fast and flexible Data Virtualization solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank N. | Director of Data Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2019

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

Data Virtuality has made the data management team so much more efficient and effective. It allows us to access different data sources, draw the data out and analyze it. The two main benefits for us are (1) the short time it takes to connect to our data sources and (2) the flexibility the virtual SQL layer provides to comply with the specific data needs of our end users.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

Data Virtuality lets users see things they don't have access to when using a tool like DBeaver; this is on the roadmap to be changed so users only see what they have access to.

**Recommendations to others considering CData Virtuality:**

For those organizations who are trying to figure out how to get quicker with their data delivery, I advise you to look at data virtualization as a whole, but more specifically at Data Virtuality. It is ease to use, has all capabilities to manage data efficiently and provide it quickly to analysts, it’s very robust and has a great connector support.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Data Virtuality as our single source of data truth where we unite data coming in from different data sources in varying formats. We manage our data in Data Virtuality and enable our end users to use it as the single point to draw data from for their reporting and data science tasks.

  ### 9. Data replication made easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Supreeth M. | Senior BI Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2019

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

We were looking for an ETL tool which is cheap and didn't require extensive programming language. After searching in the marketplace that fits our need, Pipes was the only one that was affordable yet gave us the use of integrated SQL editor with which ETL can be easily done.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

The price could be more flexible and adapt more to the current use case.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most important use case for us is that we are building a data warehouse on dimension modelling techniques. Our production database is not at all suited for analytics (since it is optimised for operational purposes). We want to do an ETL process from our production database into a schema defined by our BI team so that we can read and aggregate data more easily

  ### 10. Simplifies data transfer to our data warehouse

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor H. | Director, Information Services, Government Relations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2019

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

Pipes has a very intuitive setup and is easy to use. The pre-developed data templates are also very
helpful. The SQL editor to transform data and schemas seems very useful as well.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

No real downside. It took a couple weeks to get the Stripe integration functioning entirely as we would like it to. On the upside, the Support and Development teams were AMAZING in getting every little issue and behavior dialed in.

**Recommendations to others considering CData Virtuality:**

Do a trial of the product and leverage the Support chat option for any issues and questions. Their support is wonderful to deal with!

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pipes automatically retrieves and loads stripe data into our DWH on schedule. This enables us to monitor incoming payments. We avoid a lot of manual effort with reconciling payments and accounts.

  ### 11. Found a reliable foundation in Logical Data Warehouse for our machine learning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bernard B. | Development Lead / Technology Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2019

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

One of the most important learnings that we got out of this journey is how important data integration is for the machine learning process. And this refers to all parties involved: data architecture/analyst team as well as the data science team. Data Virtuality helped us to reduce the grunt work and eliminate idle time

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

There's nothing i didn't like about datavirtuailty

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can now integrate data from different data sources into a central place, the virtual layer, using JDBC and REST API connectors. In this layer, we can separate modules by responsibilities. This way, we can serve different teams with different requirements without editing or creating new codes. That saves us a lot of time that we could spend on other ends

  ### 12. Datawarehousing & centralization of data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bastian G. | Business Intelligence Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2018

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

One tool for datawarehousing and to connect and merge all company related data effortlessly. Very flexible job editor to schedule individual update jobs. Really fast, helpful and solution-oriented customer support.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

The documentation is quite difficult to navigate and some things are missing. Would be great to have kind of a certification for Data Virtuality. Also some kind of introduction tutorial videos would be greate.

**Recommendations to others considering CData Virtuality:**

The Power of Data Virtuality comes with the connectors. If you have various data sources and want to combine this data, this is a really greate tool to do so.
Do not hesitate to use the customer support if you have any questions or if you come to a point where you dont know how to go on. They are always open for your questions, have good advices and will help you.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Data Virtuality as Data Warehouse in which we integrate all company related data. We use different connectors in order to do so.

  ### 13. Powerful data hub supporting stored procedures in SQL

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eran F. | Head Of Partnerships, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2018

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

We have partnered with Data Virtuality since 2016 and use the software as the central data hub in our business intelligence projects. In the first phase of our projects we connect to our clients' data sources. That takes only a couple of minutes and we can immediately proceed to start building dashboards. Its the enabler for ad hoc reporting and rapid prototyping.

The strength over other ETL tools are the pre-built connectors which cut down time for data access to minutes - and the virtual data layer. The concept of a virtual data layer that supports sophisticated SQL procedures is a game changer in the industry.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

Time to onboard. We use the software in a way no other ETL tool operates. That required a rethinking to better fit our company.

**Recommendations to others considering CData Virtuality:**

Take the free trial and test the support\partner connections to get a feel for what DV can do.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick Data Access
Rapid BI prototyping
Ad hoc reporting
Automating data work flows utilizing stored procedures

Cutting time to access data to a matter of minutes
Have a central data hub to describe the business logic

  ### 14. Integrating marketing data sources for campaign management and attribution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2018

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

The best and unique thing is really that Data Virtuality is fully SQL based which gives us full flexibility when working with our data other marketing integration pipeline tools could not provide us with.

First, we connected our marketing partner sources. Data Virtuality has many connectors, so our facebook, linkedin, twitter, google ad, analytics and MySQL database was connected within 1,5h. Once we did this, we had access to the full API and could model and transform the data with SQL. That is really a game changer, because other marketing integration solutions only let us select from templates, where we always ran into limitations when building an attribution model.

We have also stored a lot of SQL code that defines how our marketing data flows on Data Virtuality. It's basically the data brain behind our marketing operations.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

Most advantages come with a disadvantage. Here, the price of flexibility comes with the fact that you need to know SQL well.

**Recommendations to others considering CData Virtuality:**

Overall, we're very happy with it. It is a very sophisticated software that comes with a variety of features that helped us to build our marketing analytics stack and bring our infrastructure to the next level (coming from having tested a couple of dozen data pipeline tools out there)

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Marketing Data Analytics. Marketing Attribution. eMail Campaign Management. Website Analytics

  ### 15. Highly reccomendable data warehouse solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Niels v. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2018

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

Having used Data Virtuality for the past 4.5 years, I can say that Data Virtuality is a solution that is both easy to learn and hard to master (in a positive way). The manner in which we have set up our data driven environment has been made possible through Data Virtuality. The logical data warehouse first enabled us to rapidly access and combine many separate data sources in an ad hoc manner and later, provided us with the tools to set up a well structured, fully featured data integration and data warehouse solution.

Data virtuality virtually takes in all data sources and enabled us to process that data for it to be published to any desired client tool, either via a ODBC or JDBC drivers or via the built-in REST service. The support team at Data Virtuality responds very fast and correct to any question and on more than one occasion has gone 'the extra mile' to satisfy our support needs.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

Additional client tools like Tableau, Looker, Excel or PowerBI are a must for business users - it has proven difficult to learn these users to use SQL to extract data in a flexible manner. Data virtuality requires experience in and understanding of logical data warehouse design or training therein to most effectively use the power that the solution offers.

**Recommendations to others considering CData Virtuality:**

Ideally, set out a strategy/plan out from the beginning in terms of how to use data virtuality's flexibility to it's full potential (best practices can be delivered to you by the company).
Having trained personnel on board that know their way around data modeling data processing will help a great deal.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At Springlane, we use Data virtuality for all things data. We integrate data from various data sources to be used company wide for reporting, analysis and forecasting.

Through the connection with many different data sources via one relatively simple query interface, we were first able to respond quickly to most questions that our organization had, by simply querying data for any of the connected systems in an ad hoc manner. This helped tremendously with building up our team as the go-to-source for data, more specifically 'the truth' regarding anything not easily found in application's front ends.

Data Virtuality's use of virtual schemas, powerful transformation and scheduling capabilities, combined with the best practices provides to us by the the support team, enabled us to undertake the next steps we needed to automate many, if not all of the data preparation we previously did manually and add many more features to boot. The virtual schemas support organizing our work, making it easier to share development over multiple developers and share and re-use created code. The transformation capabilities offered us the means to do without any external tools and truly have a single point of reference for our data related projects, whereas the scheduling ties this all together in automated nightly jobs.

  ### 16. Integrating easily and fast multiple data sources

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Professional Training & Coaching | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2019

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

We do not need to sacrifice time and ressources in order to create and maintain connectors to different data sources we need to integrate for our business. The support team is very competent and problems are usually solved very quickly.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

It would be good to have an overview over the running Pipes so we could identify faster possible issues. It would be good to have the ability to prioritize execution of a pipe.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Pipes in order to get data from different data sources fast in our DWH so we can analyze it afterwards with Tableau.

  ### 17. Used Data Virtuality at my last 2 companies as reporting back-end.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2018

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

I am consulting with high-growth startups that usually start with a clean sheet when it comes to Business Intelligence, but quickly need to set up an infrastructure for reporting and analytics for marketing, sales and operations.

Best about Data Virtuality is the large number of connectors to access data sources. It saves me time on the integration part and let's me focus on working on the logic behind the numbers.

Another important part is that I can pull all data, also custom fields for example for Salesforce. I can set up the specific business logic my clients need instead of just using templates for integration.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

Sometimes I get error messages that are not self-explaining for me.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Single source of data for Business Intelligence tools. With Data Virtuality I can access data sources and build out the business logic to use data viz tools like Excel, Tableau and Metabase for visualization.

  ### 18. Simple, Powerful data integration tool

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2018

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

Pipes is very simple tool that integrates and automates data import tasks. The Customer Service team has been extremely responsive to any problems we have had. They have been quick to adapt and have proven to be extremely capable.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

For an automated, (mostly) self-service tool, the price is too high. A year commitment is also required, with full prepayment.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are connecting Amazon MWS data to our own SQL Database. Pipes has greatly improved the efficiency of this process, which makes data and reporting occur must faster. Before Pipes, there were times in the past that we had no choice but to update data via flat files.

  ### 19. Data Virtuality is the core of our reporting infrastructure feeding Tableau with data for reporting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2018

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

I am using Data Virtuality for 3 years now. The best about Data Virtuality is that it enables me, a non technical user, to access our client data sources and build reportings in a very short time completely autonomously. Previously, I needed developers to access our client data which took several weeks and did not always work. Support is also helpful.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

The desktop frontend looks a bit dated for me. The web frontend introduced in 2.1 looks very promising for the future.

**Recommendations to others considering CData Virtuality:**

I recommend using the 14 day test phase to see for yourself how fast it helps you to centralize your data.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reporting for clients: Connecting to several APIs and databases on client side. Mostly Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Web Shop Data (Magento), MS SQL Server and MongoDB. Visualization with Tableau and automatically sending reports via email.

  ### 20. Data Virtuality is a powerful Logical Data Warehouse which I can strongly recommend

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tobias W. | Senior Head of Online Marketing , Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2017

**What do you like best about CData Virtuality?**

Working daily with DV I really enjoyed the virtual data layer. With the virtual data layer, we were able to save a lot of storage in the Logical Data Warehouse. It is very convenient to test the data before writing it into the DWH. Furthermore, I really like the DV ticket system and their support. Usually, the support-team gets back to you very quickly (latest within a day). In case of critical problems, they react immediately.

**What do you dislike about CData Virtuality?**

The client separation (multi-tenancy) is not very strong, but they are working on it.

**Recommendations to others considering CData Virtuality:**

I can strongly recommend Data Virtuality because of its strengths of Data Virtualisation and the distributed processes. It is quite easy to set-up and you can start within a day.

**What problems is CData Virtuality solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We as Invia use DV especially in the marketing department. DV is a great support for integrating over 30 data-sources. With DV we have a single point of truth, so everybody in the company has the same understanding of the data. The virtual data layer of DV allows us to make changes in the ETL-process on-the-fly without re-engineering the whole ETL-process. Since we implemented DV we save about 80% of the whole BI- and controlling resources in our marketing team. A Nice side effect, we were able to avoid Google Analytics Sampling (GA free version) by using DV procedures, which saved us a lot of money.
