Catsy gave us the architecture to model all of it properly. The platform's ability to enforce which attributes belong at which level of the hierarchy is exactly what governance-from-scratch requires. Most PIMs force you to work around this kind of structure with process and discipline alone; Catsy bakes it into the data model itself. The Custom Entities capability is a standout: we're migrating a complex compatibility matrix — dozens of drivers, engine constructions, and hundreds of tested combinations — from denormalized Excel sheets into a proper relational model inside Catsy. The ability to define entity tables with their own attribute sets and link them to products is not something most mid-market PIMs offer at all, and it's a genuine differentiator for manufacturers with technically complex catalogs. Catsy's relational model lets us qualify a combination once and have it reflected automatically across every product that depends on it. More broadly, Catsy gave us the structure to build a governed, clean PIM from scratch rather than inheriting an organically grown mess. The combination of hierarchy enforcement, attribute ownership rules, completeness scoring, and relational entity modeling is purpose-built for the kind of complex, specification-driven catalog we manage. We have been working with them for over 13 years and they have always been responsive to any issues that we may have had. Like any software, there obviously have been updates . And with updates there have been issues (mostly on our side). Recommendations to others considering Catsy DAM & PIM: We use Catsy PIM as our product repository for our Order Entry System. The major consideration for us was the fact that ALL of the product information maintenance could be done in one location. Prior to our implementation, product information was stored in folders all over our system. Trying to make sure that the information was current everywhere was impossible. We now have everything in one place with only a few people needed to make sure we have the correct product information, but images as well (something we didn't have prior to Catsy). Catsy continues to exceed expectations. Their customer service and technical support are consistently outstanding, and the team is highly responsive, collaborative, and genuinely invested in solving problems. Whenever we bring them an idea or a challenge, they partner with us to find a practical, scalable solution. One of the features we rely on most is Catsy’s custom channels. Mapping product attributes to customer-specific templates is efficient and repeatable, and once the setup is complete, managing SKU loads, exports, and data delivery becomes seamless. This has eliminated countless manual Excel processes and significantly reduced the risk of errors. The ability to use custom calculations for product mapping has also been a major time-saver, helping us accurately manage thousands of SKUs at once. Catsy’s DAM and asset management functionality is just as impressive. Organizing, managing, and distributing digital assets alongside product data keeps everything aligned and up to date. Assets are easy to locate, associate with the correct SKUs, and reliably included in exports, which has greatly improved consistency across teams and customer deliverables. Adding new products was a challenge for us (we used to use a combination of google sheets and excel). Now we use templates to import the data and it is a lot more manageable. We get a data completeness score that tells us what's missing before a product can go anywhere. And our images are now centralized with version control - that's also a win for us. But that's a one-time cost, and it's the reason why imports are more streamlined. Minor wishlist item: I'd like to save meta fields on import templates so the templates are easy to search. Our data has endless variations. Our products come in various finishes and combinations. Before Catsy, we were managing this data in spreadsheets with a lot of duplication. We had data inconsistencies with specs. Now with parent / child relationships, our data is cleaner with fewer inconsistencies and it takes us less time to introduce new products. Our organization manages a large and complex product catalog, and the standard out-of-the-box integration did not fully meet our scalability requirements. The Catsy team worked closely with us to design and implement a customized integration with our web platform, demonstrating strong technical expertise and a commitment to our success.
