"Fast and easy onboarding for a great documentation tool"
5/5
What do you like best about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

Simplicity! It is a time saver to have all my documentation in one place.

The "people" tab is very insightful. Having an overview of all the documentation created by one team is so helpful and inspiring for other teams/regions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

No complaints yet. Everything went smoothly. I look forward to diving deeper into this fantastic tool to bring my team and knowledge to the next level. I'm sure I'll get all the support needed from Castor if needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fantastic tool for data discovery and documentation"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

The easy to use interface and the speed of finding the relevant assets that you're looking for in your database.

I also really enjoy the score given to each table, lets you prioritize the results of your queries by how often ceratain data is used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

Integration with Snowflake was pretty quick, but we had some issues with syncing our data for a while.

The support was pretty quick and everything works, but sometimes it still shows that the company is new and they have to iron out some details. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Castor is a life saver"
5/5
What do you like best about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

Castor is saving me a lot of time and money. It's like adding another team to your company that is responsible for one of the most important task when growing your database: documentation. This is a life saver, especially for team with a high turnover, its very easy to pick up the database knowledge for new joiners and person not familiar with what another team is doing. It increase a lot the efficiency of going over data. I recommend and the Castor team is amazing! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

Nothing! Castor is really working great so I dont have a negative comment so far. I hope they continue to deliver the same way! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"What I love about Castor"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

Castor is an amazing solution for sharing information about data, relationships, and business logic with my whole team and beyond. It provides clarity and insights into a lot of our different data processes and keeps them all in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

A current struggle we're facing with Castor is that it is almost entirely self-contained, so we don't have a good way to sync information out to other places where we store documentation. This leads to some level of fragmentation of information sharing across teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Castor makes my job easier"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

Castor makes data much more accessible and efficient to use. The search allows you to find your data wherever it might live, from source tables to data models to dashboards and reports across various data tools.

As an analyst, I commonly search for fields and tables, using the results to build queries more quickly.

Additionally, Castor offers a robust table and field lineage, allowing quick visual access to data from the source to use in specific data tools, e.g., Looker, and Metabase. These lineage features enable easy evaluation of the downstream impact of data changes.

While I have not done much work with documentation yet, the robust features allowing documentation syncs will make managing field descriptions and other documentation accessible to more users.

Lastly, the team at Castor is a pleasure to work with and is always responsive to feedback and feature requests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

So far, I have not encountered much not to like. The team at Castor is constantly releasing new and useful features.

It would be helpful to allow the copying of field names in a query format in bulk from the table result pages e.g.

, field_1

, field_2 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solid data discovery & catalog tool"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

The tool provided us a single source of truth for our metrics and created a culture of documentation in our team. On top of that, we get an holistic overview of the dependencies between the tables/dashboards and know how each change could impact downstream/upstream models. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

Nothing so far. The only thing I could mention is that we don't have visibility on our data quality processes. The number of tests that failed/succeded over time for example? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Business users love castor"
5/5
What do you like best about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

The UI is very smooth and friendly. We thought that we would have trouble with adoption, but everyone keeps coming back to castor because it is very simple and intuitive. They have already incorporated Ai in the product which makes it much better for business users to understand SQL queries Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

At first, Castor did not have all the integrations that we were looking for, but they have built these incredibly quickly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Castor is a permanent tab in my browser"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

- Customer Service: The Castor team is incredibly responsive to feedback and gives us quality attention to better understand use cases.

- Its search yields much more relevant results than the search within any of the individual BI tools I've used.

- Cross-tool lineage is a game changer and enables efficient impact analysis of rapid back-end data changes as well as deprecation of unused data assets with confidence. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coalesce Catalog (formerly CastorDoc)?

Hard to come up with one. More of a feature request, but an item on my wish list would be the ability to filter lineage by BI tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
