Quite a few things, unfortunately.

First, the UI is noticeably slow — basic navigation feels sluggish for what should be a straightforward data platform. Second, finding historical transaction records (grants, vesting events, exercises) is unnecessarily difficult. There's no reliable way to filter or search by specific fields, so reviewing your equity history becomes a tedious manual hunt every time.

The most alarming issue, however, surfaced during a company acquisition cashout. Settled shares were displayed as "Canceled or Terminated" — the exact same label used for previously mis-issued or voided grants. No visual distinction whatsoever. During a high-stakes liquidity event, that kind of misleading status display causes real panic. Equity is hard-earned, and employees shouldn't have to wonder whether their shares were actually wiped out because of sloppy UI labeling.

I get real-time visibility into our equity structure, and issuing grants, options, and transfers is now fast and painless. Everything is stored securely, and the automated audit trails mean I don't have to chase down documents. The fact that employees and investors can see and manage their own holdings directly through their Carta accounts is a huge time-saver. We also rely heavily on their services for 409A Valuations and structuring our SAFE Financings, which keeps us compliant without having to juggle multiple external firms.
