Zola has a clean interface, and is easy to navigate. I have used Meruscase in the past and loved it, I think with some changes to make Zola more user-friendly like Merus, it would be a great program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are a number of issues that make me think that this program was developed by someone who doesn't have to use it thus there are a lot of issues that frustrate me. For example, I cannot see another attorney's billing (when you have multiple attorneys working on one file, it is helpful to know what work has already done/been billed without having to send an email), to not being able to organize custom matter fields, and the lack of a save & copy feature on billing entries (often I am billing items with the same date, time spent, and billing codes, and it would be a real time-saver to be able to just hit copy and edit the billing description rather than having to re-enter the information over again). We're sorry to hear that you're running into some issues with the platform. We wanted to address your note about being unable to see another attorney's billing - this capability is based on user permissions so it may be possible that you're unable to view other attorney's billings based on your current permission level. In addition, the ability to organize or sort custom matter fields requires administrative permission. We suggest checking with your team to view your current permission level and if this can be adjusted moving forward.

Hi Austin, we're happy to hear that Zola Suite is helping you run your practice more efficiently. In regards to Zola's email client, new emails will be shown with bolded text as well as a blue circle on the left side of the message (neither will be displayed for read messages). You can also filter by unread messages only. Emails that are assigned to a specific matter will display a purple briefcase on the left side of the message so you can easily see which communications have and have not been associated with a matter. Zola Suite is a great platform for our two-partner law firm. It has everything a law firm needs for accounting and client records purposes. But the expectations are far exceeded when you know you can call on their real person contacts for any help with the program at all. From accounting entries to email. And you can sync all email into a business folder so all lawyers can gain access to your client emails without having to forward the emails to them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The actual email viewing is clunky. I synced it with Outlook, and use it from there. Unfortunately, I have found that my Outlook folders, which match the Zola folders, have somehow disappeared and don't remain after a day or so. But at least the inbox keeps everything. The backend accounting, multiple time trackers, document automation - this program focuses on efficiency and being comprehensive. In starting a new law practice, I did not want to have to learn multiple programs and integrate them. While Zola Suite is a comprehensive program, you have to pay extra attention to conflict checks. Additionally, the document search function is not as clean as some of its competitors. Zola has added OCR which vastly improved document searches. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

ZOLA is user friendly which allows even attorneys to view reports and understand the business. We use the accounting reports weekly and monthly. ZOLA is much easier than ProLaw, which we had previously. We do not have to depend on a small group of people to get meaningful information from ZOLA> Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like how easy it is to sort through clients matters, CRMs, and calendar entries, and how easily everything can connect to each other to streamline getting information that is needed and organizing yourself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish that when uploading documents to a matter, it would be easier to upload only new documents (for instance, if a document is already there and you are backing up a folder from your computer, if it would recognize previously uploaded documents and not repeat them), and if when returning from searching for one matter, if you pressed backwards the name would remain in the searchbar or search history so you didn't have to retype it every time when clients with the same name have multiple matters.
