## Carbonite Safe Reviews
  ### 1. Decent, but not the best

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John F. | IT Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

The best part of Carbonite is the ease in setup. It is super quick and simple to install and setup. Basically does it all for you with default settings, which will backup all your common storage folders. You will want to have a look into the settings to add other folders you want to be backed up, or remove some if you do not wish to backup that folder...such as your Downloads.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

The worse part of Carbonite, is the very slow, snail-speeds while downloading files. If you ever have to restore a file or system, just be ready to wait a day, or five, before it finishes. This is not due to your internet connection, it is Carbonite not allocating enough bandwidth to download stuff fast.
For example - for 56gb of data off a server I had to restore, it took (LITERALLY) 4 days...nearly went over to the 5th day. I complained severely to them, with no sympathy or concern - they simply did not care. It is their policy and they will stick to it. If you know your downtime from the time data is lost to the time you restore it, must be less than a week, then Carbonite is simply not a viable option.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

I recommend you consider wisely before settling on Carbonite. The reasons are the super slow speeds with restoring data and the fact that they just removed the ability to backup pictures and videos from your mobile devices. This was one of the best features of Carbonite and without it, it has demoted itself down to the same playing field as Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive and others. With this change, one must concern themselves with what other changes Carbonite may make in the future that will reduce the quality of their offering.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No problems. The simple point of having a backup is to ensure you never need it. If you are depending on your backup for anything, than you are doing many things wrong. A backup is the last option, when all else has already failed to restore the data. Therefore, Carbonite is not solving any problems - simply providing the solution necessary to ensure stability and dependability of the integrity of your data. And the benefits...are none. The slow speeds simply make this a decent option for your needs of having redundant backups.

  ### 2. Carbonite - Outdated

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Law Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

It's automatic and you don't need to initiate backup. It runs in the background of your computer.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

It dramatically slowed my computer and made using other programs difficult.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up legal documents and other sensitive files. It has been a no stress way for us to do this, although we have since changed to another software.

  ### 3. Low cost, but hard to tell what you're getting from backup software until you have to use it

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Low cost, backs up quickly and efficiently

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Can be difficult to verify when backup occurs based on dot icons for folders etc

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

If you are an individual or work independently, and have fairly limited data backup needs, this should work fairly well for you. It's low cost and gets the job done. Cost is especially attractive for independent individuals with limited data needs relative to those of organizations.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am an academic who has large amounts of data to process, so this works really well for backing up my data and files (without which, I am basically lost). The software allows me to have peace of mind regarding my data access, even if my computer is lost or stolen. It also backs up fairly efficiently, and backs up files only when changes are made to a file or folder. Dots on folders and icons give indication of backup status.

  ### 4. Very Slow Backups only good for small data sets.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Their phone support team is very good and the ability to adopt new computers to the account is good. I've never had any problems recovering data for customers with Carbonite.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Carbonite is VERY, VERY SLOW. I tried for ONE YEAR to backup a server and it NEVER was able to complete a full backup set, not ONCE IN AN ENTIRE YEAR... I still have several clients with laptops that have Carbonite, but they are ones with a very small, mobile, data set (just a few GB)... The reseller markup is only 20%. While that is better than Microsoft, it is not as good as AWS, Code42, or Cozy.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

If you have a small data set of a less that 20GB on a laptop, then this is a viable service. I would not choose Carbonite if you have a data set of 100+ GB. Their service is too slow to backup that much data...

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up small, mobile, data sets on laptops is the best use for Carbonite.

  ### 5. Carbonite a life saver

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

It backs up your computer, and I already used it when old computer stopped working

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

I was very happy and I really don't dislike anything about it

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

saved all my computer files when computer stopped working

  ### 6. Peace of mind

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Mindless backup so I never have to worry

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Never had to do a restore not sure how I would

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Just do it and let go of storage and backup anxiety

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup

  ### 7. Carbonite

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brooke C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

The best things about Carbonite was how it worked in the background without needing to be told manually to save. For IT, it was easy to set up multiple computers to back up and maintain the individual identities of each machine being backed up.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Some of the best parts of Carbonite were also the things that made using it the most frustrating. While it would back up constantly, towards the end of use there were constant issues keeping it up to date, manual resets wouldn't take, and Carbonite would sometimes go for days without backing up to the cloud. It was also not very user friendly for individuals who were not computer savvy. For individuals who are not computer savvy, the technical support team at Carbonite sometimes had a hard time making their meanings clear and it would help if there was some type of support set up for end users who are not IT professionals, especially when it comes to using some of Carbonite's features effectively.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

The biggest recommendation I have is to also use an external hard drive to back up, in case part of your issue is a network failure, you would still be able to directly connect to the files you need to use and be assured that you can preserve your files during a network failure or some other failure to save to the cloud.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solved the problem of being able to back up important files to Carbonite. As a law practice, it was important to be able to back up important client files in a matter that preserved the folders they were in, automatically and on an almost constant basis.

  ### 8. Mazy Pro Backup Office Laptop

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ranjeesh Y. | Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

It doesnt bother the user when backing up. Just runs in the background in specified intervals.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

If the backup didnt run the user doesnt get any notification of failure. The IT guys dont keep track of whether our data was backed up or not.

Sometimes background running slows the PC down.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Mozy Pro lets you manage backup and restore remotely from admin pc.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy migration of data from one laptop to another in case of hardware failure. The restoring of backup if pretty simple and happens in th ebackground one new hardware has been setup

  ### 9. Great online backup site

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** alexus g. | Police Dispatcher, Law Enforcement, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I love being able to access my files anywhere I go and I don't have to be tied down to one device to access the files.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

There is not much I disliked about this site. I wish that you did not have to pay for it but it is understandable.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benefits I am realizing are that we are able to store more online and cut down having to have so much hard copies of documents.

  ### 10. Saved the day

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Installs quickly, centrally managed for someone like me that has staff all over the place, its nice to know their computers are backed up

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

kind of expensive for the amount of data backed up, each increase seems to have more and more money attached, would love to see an unlimited plan

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

It can save the day when you need files backed up and people are remote. i've had a VP lose everything before and was able to restore her files.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up users remotely

  ### 11. User friendly backup

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth M. | Grants and Programs Coordinator, Non-Profit Organization Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Carbonite automatically backs up your files and programs at preset times. I don't have to remember to back up my files, but can choose to backup when I've made changes if I don't want to wait for the preset time.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Sometimes it doesn't back up for unknown reasons, then I recieve an endless loop of emails reminding me to backup even when I manually backup my files.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Easy to use for any user, admin rights allow upper management to access user documents as needed or in the case of an employee leaving the company. Backup in the background while working, or during closed hours. It does not interfere with business and helps protect your files from computer crashes or failures.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If my computer crashes, I can still get to my files from another computer. I am able to access my files by logging in anywhere I need to. I don't have to worry about losing important documents due to computer errors or losing power in my building.

  ### 12. Great backup software with automated replication to the cloud

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derek S. | Service Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Ease of use, install and backup data to the cloud.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Not great for backing up databases, such as Exchange or SQL. Best fit for smaller environments (1-2 servers).

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

If you require a backup software for data, Mozy charges based on space. This is not a great solution if you have a very large set of data as you will pay for it to upload to the cloud. That being said, if you're a small shop with "average" data, this tool will automatically backup all data effortlessly.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software is great for backing up data and replicating it in real time to the cloud. It does not do a great job with databases or bare metal restoration of servers. Best fit for smaller companies but is very easy to implement and administer.

  ### 13. Carbonite has worked flawlessly for us

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Ease of use. Success rate of backups, not many failures, and usually any failures are due to service on servers needing startup.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Would like a little more detail and info on any failures on website dashboard

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are backing up our most critical data. Also saving a lot more man power using carbonite then what we needed for Backup Exec

  ### 14. Awesome Backup Service

Carbonite is an excellent product for individuals and businesses no matter the size.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim S. | NWS/NOAA IT Systems Support, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

All my important work hard-drive files are back up in the Carbonite cloud & accessible by any PC with web access.

I'm not always able to use our work VPN to access files on our shared-drives.
All that being said, I can rely on Carbonite to safely/securely keep by critical files backed-up

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Selected folders appear to take about 30-45 minutes to synchronize files.
Even with a fast internet connection, I wish the files/folers synced faster.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

From what I understand, because pricing is competitive, it becomes an easy decision to make the backup switch.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This backsup work data when I don't have access to the company's VPN (to access the business shared drives)

  ### 20. Set-It-and-Forget-It Computer Back-Up -- Affordable, Convenient, and It Works!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard C. | Director of Marketing and Online Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I've been using Carbonite for years. It's a great way to keep my important files backed-up off-site.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

I don't like that disconnected drives will be deleted after 30 days.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup all files.

  ### 21. Great Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Can be set up to perform back ups during off hours. Works with a pc and mobile devices. Backs up important information in case of a virus or a computer crash. Able to access information from mobile device.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

product is a bit pricey. Sometimes will interfere with other scans. Will not back up some information sometimes. Customer Support isn't the best.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

It is a good product to use for backing up files and important information. It is pricey and can sometimes be a bear to work with. Customer Support is a bit lacking.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to back up all of our files. We have had computers and a server crash in the past and we are still able to access the information we need.

  ### 22. Great Backup for Home use

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James O. | Technical Support Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I enjoy the easy use for setup and ability to access anywhere after the sync has been established.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

I don't like the fact that it's not a true network based solution as some have proposed. I tested and was unable to create a backup of my "home share" which carried my documents, desktop, etc.. this was due to setup not being able to recognize my network config.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This was helpful for remote users and creating backups of data in case of downed equipment or laptop swap outs.

  ### 23. Better Choices Available

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Carbonite is easy to install and easy to understand for our end users.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

It has a tendency to run poorly on Macbook/laptop computers, but works well for our desktop users. The inconsistency makes it hard to recommend.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

I recommend Carbonite as a hands off solution. We have several users that don't realize it's running on their system and a few that feel like it slows their system considerably. We've tried the solutions presented by Carbonite, but have not had any luck. My suggestion is to run the trial. I think most people will be very happy with the performance.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup multiple computers/users with no network connectivity.

  ### 24. Set it up it does the rest

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Barbara R. | President/Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Overall, Carbonite is very simple, essentially self-managing. There's very good support, and service levels. The backups are fairly fast and retrieval is very easy. The UI is easy to work with. You can order a complete physical disk for restore if desired. I can also select which areas of my hard drive I want to backup.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Sometimes the automated updates cause it to go offline. I have had to reinstall a few times just to get it back up and running.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

If you need something to back up your personal computer that is not going to cost you a fortune this is an excellent solution.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a daily backup of all the files I have been working with in case I accidentally delete or change something critical. Also, I don't' have to think about the backups they are always there.

  ### 25. Business or Personal Carbonite Cloud Data Protection for Advanced Backup and Rapid Recovery

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David P. | Member, Government Administration, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

A complete backup solution for organizations instead of just a cloud storage application.
Easy to install and manage.
Competitive pricing.
Easy to scale.
Transparent to the user.
Easy to understand and comprehensive reports.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

The Plus and Prime plans are only available for Windows OS so if you have a Mac platform you won't be able to use these features.
Pricing plans are based on an annual basis - no monthly plans.
Lacks file sharing capabilities.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

If you are in charge of Data Backup system in a larger organization, you may want to consider a private cloud systems for backup and disaster recovery. Carbonite is an excellent option for small business.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Internal and the local organization's back up systems are essential. Carbonite provides a second layer of protection against internal system failures. Our organization has realized the primary benefit of a storage solution of site in case of internal catastrophic disasters. Having redundancy in our organization's back up systems is essential for immediate data recovery.

  ### 26. Pros and Cons

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather R. | Associate Senior Help Desk Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I like how you can have Carbonite backup your files as soon as you make changes. Very easy to install and setup. You can setup your own backup policy for your company. This is very beneficial to minimize the amount of space backups take.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

The biggest dislike is that it is almost impossible to get your backup files downloaded from the cloud backup. I have tried to download a 5 GB backup file and it would either fail or take 4 hrs. Would be great if Carbonite would get this function working better.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

The software is very easy to use. Has a lot of great features. You can set your own backup policy for your company. Make sure you setup a policy for your company. The Carbonite default policy backs up way too much and takes a lot of space. The backup dashboard is great. The software is very easy to setup. I would use an on premise solution and not the cloud. The only issue we have with this is it takes a very long time to download your recovered backups from the cloud. If you have a smaller size backup, they download a lot faster. Overall we like the software very much and we continue to use it.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem that we are solving is that all of our remote users and laptop users can always have up to date files backed up. This is a huge benefit if a hard drive were to crash.

  ### 27. Quality Back Up Service For A Good Price

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** B.J. E. | Digital Media Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

The syncing process of uploading your files to the cloud is very easy. I never had any trouble figuring out what files were backed up and which files weren't. Also the process of downloading saved files after a crash was very easy. It's s service I sued moer than once.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

While the software provided is powerful, I think they could do better with the amount of space they give you for the money you are paying for. Ultimately I discontinued using Mozy because I needed more space. The features I traded from mozy for more space were worth the money.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

If you are just getting started backing things up online into the cloud, Mozy is a great place to start. Very user friendly sfotware.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The recovery of my lost data was the biggest problem I solved with mozy. While I didn't settle on this software overall, I would certainly recommend it to someone who was curious to try it out.

  ### 28. I finally feel confident that my files are getting backed up automatically!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

the backups are quick and don't hog up resources

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

the time it takes to load what you're backing up is ridiculous. to get to the LIST of files to restore takes about 10 minutes of just waiting. I know its hundreds of thousands of files but I bet there is a faster way to do this.

  ### 40. Simplistic Automatic Background Backup

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael M. | Network Administrator, Automotive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Overall, Carbonite is very simple, essentially self managing. There's very good support, and service levels. The backups are fairly fast and retrieval is very easy. Whether managing with the application or from web portal, the UX is easy to work with. You can order a complete physical disk for restore if desired.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

The biggest issue I have with Carbonite is that the software does not always properly auto update, which can cause backup issues. Most users cannot easily resolve without IT resolution to restart services. If the auto-updater did not require the service to be manually restarted, I'd have very little complaints.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Ensure multiple user accounts are setup properly for invites and computer management. Track the updater status and enroll in the status update emails. This will show if the apps are not current or if there are other backup issues.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Carbonite has eliminated the need for continual tape drives/external disk drives for backup which used much more user time. We have benefited from cost savings, process simplification, increased security of data, and reliability.

  ### 41. Simple and reliable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leeon P. | Partner/Digitizer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Carbonite reliably backs up standard data like documents, pictures and more, plus any custom files depicted by the user. Carbonite allows unlimited storage per computer, keeping multiple versions which are easily selected for recovery.
A cursory glance within Windows Explorer allows the user to easily tell if a file has been successfully backed up via the colored dot overlaying the file icon. A right-click context menu allows individual file and folder backup customization.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Carbonite charges extra for the ability to backup data stored on USB drives and video files.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Carbonite is an affordable solution for the home user and high enough quality for the corporate user.
Review the backup status of files and add any non-standard files or folders to ensure no important data is missed.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Carbonite is easy to setup and it is very reliable. It has saved my hide at a few clients which lost data due to ransomware. The multiple version of data backups allows me to not only restore a non-corrupted version of the files, but also pinpoint when the infection occurred because the automatic backups happen quickly after a file is changed.

  ### 42. Mozy Backup Performance

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I like that Mozy backs up my files! If I need a new laptop then I have all my files already backed up!

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Mozy is very resource heavy.. it slows my laptop down!

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up files to avoid issues due to pc crashes

  ### 43. Mozy has saved me - and my files - on multiple occasions!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Devona A. | Business Applications Manager, Telecommunications, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I can "set and forget it" - but if a backup hasn't been able to complete, I get a notice about that so I can always make sure my files and data is protected. The ability to get to my files and data anywhere that I have an internet connection is invaluable, and one that I've used several times. I don't dread replacing my computer now that I have Mozy - it's very simple to move from one device to another. I also like being able to have my husband's computer on my plan, so I have piece of mind that both devices are being regularly backed up.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

In the event that you have to restore your files, it can be very time consuming - but considering how much data is being saved, it's a small price to pay.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There have been several times that I've used my Mozy backups to retrieve files that were accidentally deleted. I've also used it to seamlessly move from one computing device to another. I've also recommended Mozy to family and friends and they have been thankful for peace of mind it has provided.

  ### 45. Lack of customer service.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I had no opportunity to like anything. After 5 years of paying for Carbonite backups, I had call to use it when my trusty pc crashed. I was asked to reset my password when I tried to log on, and subsequently not permitted to reset it until I answered security questions that, quite frankly, I could not answer unless I was actually logged into my account. After 2 attempts to work with customer service and getting nowhere,, I paid someone to pull the files off my old hard drive and cancelled Carbonite service. Ironically they gave me no issue about questioning my identity as the account holder when I called, lol. I mean, I could have been anyone. They also said they could get me access to my account now if I wanted. Of course they could, they could have done that all along, and they chose not to.
I'll be keeping my backups on Google drive and flash drives from now on. Lesson learned.

  ### 48. Liked Carbonite for Quick and Easy Backups

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa S. | Realtor, Co-Owner, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

That it was backing up all the time, which I appreciated, always knowing that my data was protected.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

That it doesn't back up the programs, only the files..... Which is of course the most important, however now that I have a Mac, I just use Time Machine and it backs up everything.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

The only thing you must know is that it backs up data only, not your programs.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is my electronic insurance policy :) The big benefit is peace of mind . The last thing you want is to lose all your data if your computer gets stolen, lost or ruined.

Set it to run and back-up once or twice a day, select files / directories you want to back-up, and it does it all for you.
Super simple to restore files too, e.g. after over-writing

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Nothing positive from this experience, unable to provide data restoration from the cloud backups. Software failed to update without admin login.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Installation, management, restore, service

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Do as many trials with EVERY vendor you can before making this choice

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Carbonite created more problems than they ever solved. They did provide a hard drive copy of our shared drive when we were hit with a Ransonware attack, which we had to pay for, so I guess that is a positive
