"Innovative and adaptive"
5/5
What do you like best about Carbon?

The best part about working with Carbon is likely their constant innovation and adaptation. Several times a week, my team would receive updates form them on new features and programs, and the various different integrations that the offer. Additionally, they are very responsive and accommodate special requests all the time, such as that one day where we had more usage than usual and needed a character limit extension. What do you dislike about Carbon?

When we first got set up, it was a bit more confusing since our team didn’t all have a strong technical understanding. It took a while to get used to all of the features and fully deploy their product to improve our AI chatbot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible & diverse toolset"
5/5
What do you like best about Carbon?

My favourite part is probably the diverse and flexible amount of programs that Carbon is able to provide us to train our model. For instance, at first, we were using the common webscraping tools for GDrive and OneDrive, but eventually, we unexpectedly had some applications with Notion and Slack as well, but Carbon already had those set up when we needed them. If we have new programs, we usually just send them a message and they are probably happy to set that up for the other companies as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Carbon?

I wish there was some sort of document that compiles all of the available features that Carbon has to offer so that we know what we can and cannot use them for. They also send us a lot of updates which can sometimes be hard to keep track of, so maybe some sort of organized system for that would help as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Convient Solution for data in AI Training"
5/5
What do you like best about Carbon?

Our favourite part about Carbon was probably how convenient their solution is. When creating our LLM, we tried creating a data connector system ourselves, but it’s a bit more tricky than we had initially thought, mainly because of the sheer amount of programs we would have to set up to be compatible with (not to mention it’s probably going to change over time), and that we were a relatively new startup and didn’t have much cash to spare. But when they reached out to us, their product was very streamlined since it integrated all of those programs that we used into one common API and all we needed to do was have our product manager use their portal and spend a week on how to use all of the features with the help of their support team and our developer. What do you dislike about Carbon?

It’s only been a few months so nothing yet. Everything has been going smoothly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-aware & Adaptive"
5/5
What do you like best about Carbon?

Something that I think really distinguishes Carbon from the other companies out there is that they will customize their programs to your requests. Each time we messaged them about the feedback we have received from our users, their team always adjusts accordingly and develop new API and UX improvements that improve our business and our customer experience. I feel that even if we suggested for them to develop an integration for a new program, they would probably do it within a few weeks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Carbon?

I wish that they published the fact that they allow free trials on their website. We were initially wary to try it because we didn’t want to pay for something that we might not use, but they offered a trial period, which I think they would probably get a lot more potential customers if businesses knew about that. "Affordable Data Connector to train LLMs"
5/5
What do you like best about Carbon?

Contrary to some of the other reviews on here, my favourite part about Carbon is probably their pricing. They charge based on the content processed than the number of connectors, which was beneficial for us since we had many customers but each customer doesn't have too high of a usage. The most important part for our company was having a data connector that was affordable, and it was a lot cheaper to have Carbon handle all of that than having to set up that system ourselves. I think that might also be their strategy, which is to create value in providing a more affordable option in that piece of using external data to train LLMs. We’ve saved many multiples of what we spent according to our estimates. What do you dislike about Carbon?

One thing I do think they can do better at is having a more clear support system. By that I mean I wish there was some sort of page that they had where they could answer common questions (FAQs maybe?) without our team having to send them a message each time. "Efficient & Secure Data Connection for Document Uploads"
5/5
What do you like best about Carbon?

When our customers were using our chatbot, they were only able to upload local documents, which were constrained by length. Additionally, those important materials were not saved after the chat session ended for technical and security reasons. But Carbon was able to be our solution since they converted those into vector embeddings and stored it in a database. We were able to have users web-scrape and upload local files, create custom tags to their documents, and implement a fast semantic search to retrieve content from uploaded documents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Carbon?

Carbon could maybe improve in implementing some sort of guide for first using their product. There is still a small technical component involved of setting up their application to integrate data sources, which would still require some degree of engineering oversight. Maybe just some sort of quick course or manual in using their portal would be a good idea. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"More Benefits than you might think"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Carbon?

We probably have to say that we love their approach towards helping their customers the most. We first reached out to Carbon after our customers had requested the option of uploading files as part of their AI chatbot that we delivered as part of our programs. It was difficult for us to implement ourselves due to its complexity, but it was a smooth effective resolution with Carbon’s support. After successfully implementing that with Carbon, we wanted to add our pre-built data connectors next, and they leveraged our white-label service and custom branding across all user-facing components, launching Google Drive and Dropbox connectors just a couple weeks later. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Carbon?

If we had to say one, it would probably be the characters limit. There are different plans available, but we wish there was some higher discounts that targetted companies that have usages that are more volatile, rather than just a fixed amount for each tier. Currently, their discount applies only if we do over 100M characters per month but since our usage is lower and more volatile, we don't always benefit from that volume discount. Every now and then we might also have a high frequency of requests, and might have to contact their team for a short-term extension of our limit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Scalable & Reliable LLM Connector"
5/5
What do you like best about Carbon?

At our company, we mainly used Carbon for connecting some applications/programs to train the LLM that we were providing our clients. But for us, we like their product’s scalability and reliability the most. They offer auto-scaling and 99.995% SLAs, which meant we can handle the increasing demand without compromising reliability or performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Carbon?

The only objection I have is with their OCR solution. There’s sometimes delays when integrating with other systems, and it’s a bit slow sometimes during periods of high-volume; there are also minor complexities with handling documents that have multiple languages or different layouts. "Streamlined Universal Retreival Engine"
5/5
What do you like best about Carbon?

We really like the fact that Carbon can be integrated in pretty much all of the applications that we use, which is very important since we deal with preparing professionals for the future of AI and have to keep up to date with all the new trends in the form of unstructured data. When we were making our courses for Bentley University for example, Carbon gave us the accurate information through its webscraping as well as integration with GDrive and OneDrive to help us identify which learning areas to prioritize. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Carbon?

Being such a small company, we do wish that there was more clarity as to how the pricing works. It did end up being affordable, but many other startups might be hesitant to have to contact the sales team first before getting their quote. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Compatible Programs"
5/5
What do you like best about Carbon?

I think I liked best about the sheer number of programs that they were compatible with. Of course the obvious ones like google drive are expected, but we didn’t expect them to also work with Zendesk and Upstage. It was a nice surprise to our business operations that made life just that much easier for the rest of us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Carbon?

Something I would recommend to Carbon is to maybe establish some sort of onboarding tool with their system. One of our new product manager hires had a bit of difficulty at the beginning getting used to all the functions for a bit, so there’s definitely a learning curve to using their system, albeit a few weeks at most. Integrating some sort of system to help new users learn how to use it would probably be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
