I like that Canto allows us to share assets with our network of distributors and sales team. I appreciate the ease of search in Canto, which makes finding what we need quick and simple. The portals are a strong feature, as they let us easily control our media all from one central hub, instead of having to house things in multiple folders. I would love if the backend looked different than the customer facing portal. The PDF and file viewers could use some work, they're a little clunky and don't always work. I love the keyword and tagging structure Canto uses. Their custom fields make it easy to keep content organized year after year. Truly, we have yet to find a downside to Canto. The price was daunting coming from using a very inexpensive SmugMug account, but the product is well worth it. We are a PK-12 school and we were using several Smug Mug accounts to manage and store our photos. We had separate accounts to manage privacy and access across our teams. What I liked most was the impressive search engine—finding images is incredibly easy and straightforward. Overall, I found it to be a very intuitive, user-friendly tool that’s simple to navigate. Implementing the PIM is not the most natural yet, but the development team has been making a lot of improvements and are very receptive to feedback. The AI search and metadata doesn't work well for niche product groups. The definition and limitations of folders and albums on the Canto DAM are a little weird. What I love about using Canto is the ability to easily configure your digital asset management library in the best way for your end users. Their recent release of Canto XI has made finding and downloading assets easier, and I'm excited to continue our implementation and roll out these features to our organization. They do have the upload link option for "guest" uploads, but it's not very scalable for managing large amounts of upload personas without Contributor licenses. The tagging feature is great because it makes it easy to come back to old photos when I need them. Being able to make share links allows me to share my work with others easily. I like using Canto for photo asset management and organization. It helps various departments on campus by allowing us to organize and sort our photos strategically. I really appreciate the customization in tagging, keywords, and custom fields. This customization lets me get extremely specific, which makes organizing and searching for images so much easier. I think the User Interface could be more intuitive. While I am proficient in the software, a lot of our users have shared that they are confused about navigating the website at times. I think if they could improve the UI to be a bit more user friendly that would be amazing. It would also be nice if we could pin certain files or images to the top of an album for easy access. The best part is I dont need to upskill external partners to use our DAM system, as everything is really straight forward. I like the customer support, they answer all my question no time. As an Admin the learning curve is steep, there is a lot of settings (dam, portal, workplace, settings, tags, keywords etc) and a lot of rules and mechanics and the setting part after a year still confusing sometimes. For maintenance sometimes we lost all the original sourcefiles, forced us to recreate the whole learning from scratch .
