## Canto Reviews
  ### 1. A good asset management system

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The AI facial recognition is really helpful and the search function is great.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The cost of having more than 3 power seats is a lot. I do not like the new interface they trialed. It made simple functions take more clicks than usual. I still keep using the old interface.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto allows us to selectively share albums of photos.

  ### 2. Nicole Newbigging

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicole N. | Senior Coordinator, Digital Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Sharing links to external vendors and clients

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

AI search isn't working as while as I would expect

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sharing assets with individuals and storage/ accessibility of assets

  ### 3. Overall a good digital asset management system, although the facial recognition can be a bit picky.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

It is easy to use and the features are clear and well-organized. There are many settings that you can change to customize things to your liking. Canto provides a great number of portal for sharing assets online. Customer service and support, when needed, has been timely and helpful. Overall, I would say that this is a solid digital asset management system.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I have a few issues with the facial recognition. Because we are using it in an archival setting, we upload a lot of older assets from our collections (late 1800s and early 1900s). The recognition does not work well on these photos. Also, if the initial recognition photo was not great, you'll find that you must contact customer service to have them remove this initial photo. I wish there was a way to fix this on my own without having to contact support.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can search across multiple types of assets in one go. It also allows for a good workflow between different departments (sharing assets).

**Official Response from Reagan Cola:**

> Hi there, thank you for this helpful and detailed review! We're so thrilled to hear how Canto is supporting your team across departments. We’ve shared your feedback on facial recognition with our product team as we continue to improve the platform. Thanks again! Reagan

  ### 4. Endless Possibilities with PIM + DAM, But Video Playback Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The possibilities and use cases are endless, especially when you pair the PIM + DAM. from sales enablement to graphic designer support, Canto and their portals steal the show.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

That we can not watch videos from the product hub/SKU. Id like to be able to stay on a product page to watch videos about it.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I no longer need 75 spreadsheets to wrangle product info. i dont have to sift through thousands of images (and their versions) to find the image a designer needs. I can create a central source of truth for data and assets that is easy to maintain, update, and share with relevant parties.

  ### 5. Great platform for storing and organizing our sizable photo library

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gina G. | Art Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Being able to quickly search for what I need by using the search and filter functionality. I love that all our photos are organized and categorized for what makes sense for our institution. I also love the InDesign integration! Makes desiging pieces so much easier to be able to search within the design platform!

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It can be slow to load. We have also had issues with syncing our large folders from Box into Canto.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having all of the photos available to everyone on campus so they can search and find what they need without reaching out to us. Saves us time and gives them the benefit of ownership and flexibility.

  ### 6. A great way to story your company's digital assets

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Executive Office | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I like the ease of use best. The simpler the better, and I'm glad our company decided on a way to hold and share our digital assets.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I have not seen where/how I can decide how I would like to download the assets. Also, I'm guessing our company just signed up and went with it because there is no metadata that allows for fast search for items. And our filing system needs help. So this issue is either on us or our team was not properly trained.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A one stop storage place for our digital assets. As the EA to the CEO I need to be able to put my hands on those things quickly.

  ### 7. Intuitive and powerful asset management system

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio D. | Multimedia Design Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Our university hosts thousands of photos dating back to a decade and CANTO is powerful enough to host and manage all those images. It's intuitive to use: for uploading, downloading (and for clients not registered for the system it's so easy to send a link exclusively for just that album of photos and not the whole library), the ability to download in compressed and resized files, and creation of albums (snap) so easy for organization. The one stand out feature is the facial recognition: we upload one photo and tag that photo with facial recognition and it becomes so much easier to search now.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The ability to go back to search results after looking at an individual photo. One of the things we have to do is redo a search for the same desired results because after you've looked at an individual photo and downloaded it, you can't use the back button on your browser to go back to your search results. You have to do the search all over again.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to house and manage thousands of images we use for our Marketing and Communication purposes. And how easy it is to organize and find the photos needed with intuitive controls that even the least technically savvy user n our university can find it easy to sue.

**Official Response from Reagan Cola:**

> Hi Antonio, we're so glad to hear that Canto’s intuitive tools and features like facial recognition are helping your team manage and organize your photo library with ease. If you’re looking to streamline repeat searches, Saved Searches might be an option to explore. To learn more about those, check out our Support Center! Thanks again for sharing your experience! - Reagan.

  ### 8. Concise Organization and Robust Permission Controls

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I like the ability to organize everything concisely, and to be able to seamlessly toggle permissions

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

There is definitely a learning curve and can be hard to explain to others -- easier to do it myself at the end of the day

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto helps us immensely provide portals and items for our varying partners

  ### 9. Smooth Transition from Previous PIM System

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Business Supplies and Equipment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Relatively seamless transition from last PIM system; we appreciate that the majority of our content was migrated over with little to no change. We like the filter and tagging system, as well as the "date uploaded" and "uploaded by" indicators to maintain records of accountability.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The main UI is a little difficult to navigate and is densely packed; would like to see some updates to the image management section in terms of overall organization.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Serves as a central hub and reference for all of our product content. This helps us stay organized and consistent as a small business.

**Official Response from Reagan Cola:**

> Hi there, we love hearing that Canto is serving as an effective hub for your product content and that the transition went so smoothly.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the user experience. We’re actively making improvements to the Main Library and now offer an updated option you can explore. If you try it out, we’d love to hear your feedback through the in-app Resource Center. Cheers, Reagan

  ### 10. Details matter - you get out what you put in, plus more!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karen M. | Director of Creative and Marketing Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

End-user interface can be customized for our branded experience. We are having fun creating portals for our various campaigns and audiences.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Details matter during integration! I've watched and rewatched the many wonderful helper videos to best convert our many-layered file structure into this new format. It's been time-consuming, but fruitful.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto is providing remote access to my assets which were previously available only on my local drive. Also, Canto is bringing these assets forward so that my team and my larger organization can access and utilize as needed. Our assets are also now being backed up regularly, so I'm feeling much more confident about my archive.

  ### 11. Time Saver & organization solutions for all

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Haley D. | Director of Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto has saved time in finding resources that we can use for marketing materials. I can also save time by using upload links and portals to decrease time going back and forth with employees wanting to download photos and vendors we want to share content with. Along with that, being able to save 1 file in multiple locations and tag it in various ways makes it easy for it to be found no matter how 1 user searches for it.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I wish there were a way to bulk-assign photo recognition names and easier workflows/automation for access/tag assignments/approvals. I also wish I could integrate Canto with other tools or have it loop a slideshow on a permalink that auto selects a certain batch of filtered materials.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making it easier to find and ensure reps are using the right resources

  ### 12. User-Friendly with Excellent Support, But User Limits Can Be Restrictive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is user friendly and they offer excellent support. Canto offers many features to help organize our companies digital assets.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

One drawback of Canto is that it operates as a pick-and-choose package, which comes with a restriction on the number of users.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are currently using Canto to manage our digital assets for PDP, licensing, and brand purposes. It also allows us to store videos, providing a single source of truth for all our assets. This setup enables us to make updates in one central location, ensuring consistency across our materials.

  ### 13. Straightforward and Easy to Use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Very straight forward and easy to use system.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

So far there is nothing that I dislike about Canto.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making it easier to access documents that are needed for our customers and additional paperwork.

  ### 14. Canto has been a helpful tool for distributing our images to the appropriate teams.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Cosmetics | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

It's easy to prevent users from accessing restricted images until a certain date. Convenient place for our approved imagery to live.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

There is a learning curve for some users who are not as experienced in technology. Things like portals and groups can be hard to teach.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto gives us one cohesive place to store and distribute our approved images to the teams or clients that need them.

  ### 15. UI/UX needs improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mikako I. | Design Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

It does what DAM system should do as the simplest way.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Backend setting for different roles are not as easy as it could be.
There are lots of good features but those are not easy to use so we tend to not use most of them.
Our creative team use them everyday but utilize only 10-20% of what Canto can do.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing the same assets over and over to the different teams so that creative team doesn't have to spend the time for that.

**Official Response from Reagan Cola:**

> Hi Mikako, thanks for your review! We’re glad to hear that Canto is helping your creative team save time by centralizing asset access. For help getting more out of the platform, your account manager would be happy to walk you through features that could simplify your day-to-day. We’re actively working to improve the user experience, so we appreciate your feedback on that. Thank you for being a Canto customer!

  ### 16. User-Friendly and Easy to Navigate

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The tool is very user friendly, easy to use and navigate.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I don't have anything to add regarding disliking Canto.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

library of images, very easy to search, and the search bar makes it easy to look for an image

  ### 17. Quality DAM product, thorough onboarding and good ongoing customer service.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is a solid digital asset management tool providing a good mix of functionality, features, and ease of use. The staff is very helpful from the thorough onboarding process evaluating our specific needs and then transitioning to the ongoing account management and help desk service. The team is always available and willing to assist with our needs.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The mobile experience has much to be desired. The desktop experience works well but doesn't transition to the mobile app and limited to the mobile browser usage as well. I look forward to updates to this experience.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto is our company's first DAM tool and transitioned us from server storage. This has allowed us to locate, organize, and share assets much easier internally and externally. The Portals and Upload options have improved our collection and archiving of assets preventing assets from living on individual phones, memory cards, computers, and hard drives and now centrally located in a single source.

**Official Response from Reagan Cola:**

> Thanks for the kind words! We're glad Canto has made your transition from server storage smoother and that our team has been a helpful part of the process. We appreciate your note on the mobile experience—it’s on our radar as we continue improving the platform. Cheers, Reagan!

  ### 18. Investing in tools for a scaling startup

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I work for a startup that is leaving its scrappy phase and starting to scale. I needed something that could grow with us.

Canto is the best for file management. My company was using google drive and it was a mess. I used canto in a previous role and advocated for it and implemented it. Using custom fields to tag all of our assets makes it very easy to narrow down my search. Portals are a a key feature for us too, as we mainly share assets with our clients and vendors and need to keep them secure. We use custom statuses to lock down assets that customers share with us so they aren't shared anywhere else. Being able to crop and resize when downloading is super helpful for my team.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It will take time to setup, and we are still figuring out how we want to organize our folders. Canto Assets can be in multiple folders, unlike dropbox or drive, which can take some getting used to. An integration to post to meta would be great, surprised canto is lacking that since there is one for Linkedin.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps is find and manage our assets and controlling access.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Hi there — thanks for sharing your experience! It’s great to hear Canto is helping your team grow and stay organized. Custom fields and portals are great tools for keeping everything organized and secure. We appreciate your feedback on the Meta integration and will log your request for future updates. If you need any additional support with implementation, feel free to reach out to your account manager or email customerfeedback@canto.com. We're glad to have you in the Canto community!

  ### 19. Clean, Contemporary Interface That’s a Joy to Use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Clean interface, feels like a contemporary tool.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Link management seems cumbersome (especially for an organization that shares a lot of links).

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating a centralized system that the full organization has access to. We previously used Dropbox and it was a disaster. Now people can use the search function intuitively and find the files they need.

  ### 20. Canto review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrian B. | Branding and Design artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is easy to use and keeps all our digital assets organized in one place. The smart search and tagging features save us a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Canto can be pricey and a bit slow with large files. Setup takes time, and integration with other tools isn’t always smooth. A mobile app would also be nice.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto helps us solve the problem of scattered and hard to find digital assets. By keeping everything in one organized, searchable library, it saves us time, improves team collaboration, and ensures brand consistency across all our content.

  ### 21. UI UX experience has room for improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** EMILIO C. | Video Producer and DAM administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

It has great tools to search for assets, download and manage the galleries. The search tool is quite good.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The experience of uploading assets has issues. The suggestions for TAGS is too aggresive, and the suggestion should not take precedent, especially if it does not start with the same spelling as what was typed.
For example the tag FISH, and the suggestion is ICE FISHING, and we have to redo the process several times to ensure the correct tag is entered.
Pressing enter after adding a TAG, makes the cursor dissaperar and the user has to select the input bar again for every tag. Best practice is that Enter selects the tag and keeps the curson on the same dialogue box so a new TAG can be added.
The Chat bubble is very annoying, it covers the Download Button when the Download window is opened.
When I create a single download preset for a Portal, and no other alternatives existe, Do we really need to go through all the selection process? Can it go straight to download with the preset, just like it does when you download the original?

When sharing a URL to a folder from the main library, with a user who is only in a portal but has access to the same folder I'm sharing, it's a very convoluted process to go to the portal that that user has, and share that URL.
Is there a way to share a URL that will open that folder to all of those who have access? It becomes very tedious to go to different portals, select the URL and share each URL with the different users when working with users who are using different portals.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sharing assets with staff members, and external partners as well as media outlets

  ### 22. Very Intuitive - Lots of new features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bethany H. | Marketing Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I like that it's very customizable with lots of eco-systems to help streamline and group work or departments to ensure everyone is getting access to the assets they need. The integration was so seamless and since the look and feel is similar to Google drive it was easy to implement and use. The customer support is very quick and helpful. Since switching to Canto we had an increase in platform use and reduced the amount of assets that were lost in our 'asset graveyard'. I use this took in our marketing department every day!

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I wish you could group assets together in the same sizes instead of having them upload as separate assets but the in-tool resize and crop feature is top notch!

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We create so much content across all departments that it can be difficult to disseminate information to everyone in a timely and easy to use way. Canto solves this problem because it allows us to manage asset use case, contracts and approvals in a timely fashion to ensure everyone who needs access to assets can get it without running into typical pitfalls that include assets with outdated products or expired talent contracts.

  ### 23. Highly Customizable DAM, But Search Could Be Smarter

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is a good highly customizable DAM that isn't locked into a larger suite. It was pretty easy to set up and get integrated into our processes. Many team members use it daily with most using it weekly or monthly.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The search feature works but could be more predictive.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing long term asset archiving and associated meta data.

  ### 24. Canto image & asset management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alison W. | Graphic Designer III, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Our team uses Canto to store and organize our photos, branding, and internal image assets. Images in our library are tagged and categorized, and facial recognition is used to identify the people in our photos. This type of image organization has made it easier for colleagues to view, share, and search for photos and assets within our image collections.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It takes quite a bit of time to organize things, adding information to images, and making the assets information-rich. I have also gotten error messages when uploading images more than once.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Canto we had all of our images in several different locations; now, we can promote collaboration by keeping assets in a centrally managed system. We are staying connected with external audiences and donors by using the portals to share images and branded assets after receptions and award events. Canto benefits our organization by simplifying and making our ability to share image resources collaborative.

  ### 25. Glitchy but good organizational tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cali H. | Corporate Event Planning Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I like the tagging feature and ability to share content out to clients without them having full access to our account and they can share with attendees that have been at an event.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

There are certainly glitches and the system can be a bit slow and rudimentary. For example within an album trying to create a new section and having the images show up in a section below but the title not appearing after several reattempts to log in. Another issue is when faced is when using the mobile upload function it takes an extensive amount of time even if you are on a strong wifi network. Sometimes it crashes and you have to start over on the upload.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto's platform has created a space for our company to focus organizing all media across all our different events which has been very helpful.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Hi Cali! Thanks for your honest feedback! We're happy to hear that Canto is helping your team stay organized and easily share media. That said, we understand how frustrating glitches and slow uploads can be. We’re always working to improve performance and reliability, but if you ever need assistance or have specific issues you'd like us to look into, our team is happy to help. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience! -Julie

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Ability to store our media online and share it with other staff and external groups.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It's hard to download multiple files at a time and organizing folders/albums aren't the most intuitive.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping us solve where to store all of our digital assets securely online rather than locally, and the ease of accessing these assets.

  ### 27. Advanced DAM

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katy E. | Director of CX, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is easy to upload your assets into, share with your team, and organize your files. Their AI search is next level compared to other platforms we've looked into and we love the ability to customize sharable pages.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The folder structure can be a little confusing but you don't really need to use it post uploading.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We previously used google drive and google photos and it could take our team hours sometimes to find the assets they needed. Canto is able to save us a lot of time.

  ### 28. Wonderfully Robust and Customizable

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto is a wonderfully robust digital asset management platform. I like that we can customize our style guides, asset structure, sharing capabilities, tracking capabilities, and so much more. The ability to search for items with keywords or by what's in the photo is amazing. I highly recommend Canto for those with many digital assets.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The setup can be overwhelming, thankfully there are a lot of training resources and onboarding help.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We get many requests for our logo and branding guide, we have the ability to share our style guide with whoever may need it very easily. They can grab the assets they need without a lot of back and forth. We can also host all of our digital collateral in an organized way.

  ### 29. Efficient asset management, but plugins and portals need improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I like that I can quickly find and edit assets within Canto for my everyday web content. I also love its extensive tagging and category options. Customer support is often super helpful!

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Integration into other apps via plugins is mediocre at best, and the portal function really needs some updates. The approval process is fine, but could be streamlined.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto helps me keep assets updated, following data protection rules and tracking asset use across the organisation.

  ### 30. Canto

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kara B. | Product Marketing Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The best thing about Canto is the ability to share large files. Our company previously had trouble sending and accessing large files to our sales team when they were traveling, so this has been great.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I wish there were other ways to organize the DAM other than by date added. It would be helpful to have a custom set up, more options (alphabetical, etc.), or be able to pin files to the top.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto has helped with sending files internally.

  ### 31. Great Upgrade from Traditional Content Management but Data Side Has a Lot of Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jan D. | Ecommerce Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The team has been very knowledgeable and the training series proves to help ease some of the implementation jitters our team has. There is a learning curve with moving from a regular hard drive on a server to Canto but we are excited to use Canto's other features.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I wish the PIM side is more robust and more customize-able. The set-up of products is a little more complicated than expected but nothing too hard is you're familiar with spreadsheets.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It takes on a huge chunk of a Catalog Manager's role in the company. It allows team members access to content they normally would have to ask someone to send them or get access to.

  ### 32. Canto is a helpful tool but often duplicated

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nia R. | Digital Communications Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto has some useful attributes, such as the photo sharelink and photo tags

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

I don't love the aesthetic, and it's easy to duplicate work with Google Photos Drive.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A helpful database to store our photos

  ### 33. Most Scalable DAM I've Experienced

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The customization to support many different brands. I was pitched by many DAMs that wouldn't allow me to make different portals with different branding... claiming those would additional 'DAMs'. Not with Canto. I can make a portal to support as many brands as I want without having add-ons!

It's super easy to share files across different platforms, and their resizing/cropping/compression functions are super helpful.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Their latest "AI Search" functionality is lackluster. It doesn't feel like the big upgrade, as I expecting the ability to search by meta data AND asset content. However, I'll run a search for a product from a specific brand (which is identified via a custom field), and still get assets from other brands. This is something I expect to improve, but not impressed with it's current state.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing me to manage version control easily. It's helpful to have a north star asset with a URL that lives in different places-- website, emails, customer portals. Being able to update it in one place and impact across the board is a huge time saver!

  ### 34. Effortless Organization and Ease of Use—Works Perfectly for Our Needs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** josh m. | Project Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

It’s easy to use and keeps all our files organized in one place.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Nothing major so far, it works well for what we need.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Digital Asset Management

  ### 35. Canto: Our main repository for digital assets three years on.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto has a robust feature set which is easy to access for most people. A little hand holding is sometimes neccessary for new users, but for the most part I feel that it's fairly intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

To acheive the fullest potential, one must carefully plan out ones implenentaiton. I feel as though we missed that mark early on, leaving us the play clean up later. Our use case is still evolving and I find myself wondering if we could be more efficient in terms of how we leverage the platform.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest probnlem we needed it to solve is sharing assets with other team members. It does this admirably.

**Official Response from Reagan Cola:**

> Glad to hear Canto’s features have been easy to use and helpful for your team! We appreciate your note on implementation, and if you’re looking to re-adopt or optimize, your account manager is a great resource, or feel free to reach out to customerfeedback@canto.com for an introduction.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! – Reagan

  ### 36. Canto solved our digital management issues

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antoinette M. | TV and Publishing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

We were looking for a platform that would be able to house our sermon videos (.mp4 & .mov), audio files (.mp3), lesson outlines (PDF & Microsoft Word), and graphics (PSD, JPG, PNG). We had our files in abou 20 locations (emails, Dropbox, OneDrive, individual computers, servers) and they were not organized. We were looking for a solution that would house everything & allow team members to search for the files & be user-friendly for them. Canto provided this. We created a standard operating procedure for how to enter the data (i.e., file naming procedures, listing of keywords, etc.). It has worked well.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

One of the reasons I selected Canto was because they provided direct URLs and cloud links. However, I'm not able to use these direct URLs on our mobile app or other applications. I still have to download the video & upload them to those apps. So, they are not useful when trying to use them in other applications. They seem to only work well when sending them to others to open the file.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Digital asset management. We're able to have our series in albums & folders & find all the assets associated with the one project.

  ### 37. New Canto User in an Education Setting!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Although we are fairly new to Canto, so far we have enjoyed our experience in moving assets over from the old system. It has been easy to move our assets over when switching from our old platform. The training sessions we have been through have been informative and our team we are working with has helped to answer any questions we may have about Canto. As a content creator on campus, I will frequently be uploading assets to Canto in the future! We are still building out our portals, but once those are complete it will be simple for staff all over the college to find the assets they may need for their division specificaly.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

We are still very new to Canto so working on lots of new ways to utalize the system into our work flow. The one issue we are still working through is making sure Alternative Text carries with our photos when they are in use on social media or our website (and how to write these for all our assets), but these are processes we are looking into as well with the new accessibility/compliance rules in education.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto is helping us better organize all of our assets in an easy to follow folder format, and allowing us to sort and maintain assets for the over 250+ college programs on our campuses.

  ### 38. We just started using Canto at work, and I am loving it so far!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The comprehensive search and filter features are probably my favorite thing about Canto. It is so easy to find exactly what I'm looking for, and I haven't found this in any other asset management software so far.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

There is nothing I dislike about Canto so far, but I have only been using it for a few short months. I am hopeful this will still be the case once I've used it for longer!

The only thing I would say is that the person who trained our team to use Canto didn't seem extremely well informed on all the features Canto had to offer. She did not have answers to a lot of our questions and just said that she would get back to us later.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We did not previously have a good system for storing and organizing photos which made searching for them that much more difficult. Canto makes it so much easier to not only keep everything in one place, but also find photos in a snap. Another issue Canto is solving for us is allowing us to have more control over which photos can be distributed for use by individuals outside of the MarCom office.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Thanks for your review! We’re thrilled to hear you’re loving Canto and that the search and filter features make finding assets easier. We appreciate your feedback on training and will share it with our team.If you still have any unanswered questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your account manager or email customerfeedback@canto.com for an intro.

  ### 39. Easy to Use Platform for Basic Photo Assets

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie T. | Trade Show and Social Media Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Ease of uploading and searching for assets.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

No AI learning aside from facial recognition.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canto makes photo assets available for multiple teams and their specific needs.

**Official Response from Reagan Cola:**

> Hi Stephanie! It’s great to hear that Canto’s upload and search features are making asset management easier for your team.

We appreciate your feedback regarding AI learning. While our current AI tools don’t adapt based on user behavior just yet, we do have features on our roadmap that will introduce this kind of learning in the future.

If you have additional ideas or questions, feel free to submit via our Resource Center, available in the upper-right of your Canto instance. Thanks again for being part of the Canto community! Cheers, Reagan

  ### 40. Best onboarding experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darren R. | Director of Marketing and Promotions, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The Canto onboarding process is extensive, thorough and personal. All software onboarding adventures should come with this much individual support. Our Canto expert took the time to research our university and get to know our needs. She listened and provided excellent solutions. Fantastic customer support made implementation as easy as possible.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The software is powerful, and while it is relatively intuitive, Canto has many features. Mastering the service takes practice and, yes, homework.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Canto, our digital asset management was a mess of folders on a localized harddrive. Search features were basically non-existent.

  ### 41. Great DAM Tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniela C. | Digital Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

It's a great DAM tool wiht alot of features that can save an organization the headache of misplacing digital assets.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Because it has so many features it can be overwhelming and time consuming to enact proper DAM protocols. It is not the most user friendly or intuitive platform and a lot of folks in my organization prefer to ask me to to upload or organize assets instead of trying to learn it.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's one place where we keep all our digital assets. Wokring in conservation you deal with a lot of contracts, images and videos, and Canto offers a place to keep track of everything and organize it.

**Official Response from Julie Neumeister:**

> Hi Daniela — Thanks for sharing your experience! We’re glad to hear that Canto helps your organization keep track of all your digital assets and avoid the headache of misplaced files. We understand that with a powerful tool comes a learning curve, and we appreciate your feedback on usability. If there’s anything we can do to make onboarding smoother or workflows easier for your team, we’d love to help. Contact your account manager or reach out to customerfeedback@canto.com to be linked up. Thanks again for your review and for the important work you do in conservation!

  ### 42. Very impressed so far

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kate . | Social Media Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

The thoroughness of onboarding is amazing. I feel very confident that my team is being fully briefed on everything Canto has to offer and that support will be there whenever we need it.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Our sales rep was a little difficult to get ahold of.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are an agency that handles 15 internal brands and we just so many business assets

**Official Response from Reagan Cola:**

> Thank you for the kind words about our onboarding process—we’re so glad to hear your team feels supported and confident using Canto! As you continue your journey with us, we’re always here to assist with any questions or feedback you may have.

Cheers to your success with Canto, Reagan.

  ### 43. Good Experience, But There's a Learning Curve

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian H. | Manager of Creative Production, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I like the overall interface and the customer service has been pretty good as well. I also appreciate that they are constantly innovating and adding new functionality to the tool.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It can be very technical at times. We have a pretty small team without much bandwidth and are working on trying to digitize, consolidate, and create go-forward criteria/standards for all our assets. While Canto has been helpful, we've hit a lot of technical snags during onboarding and it's been a disproportionate amount of workload on our internal team driving the process vs. our Canto account reps on the other side helping guide us with this being our very first DAM implementation.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our intention is to consolidate all of our creative/brand assets into the tool, make it more easily accessible/searchable internally (and with external agency partners), and create a more secure, redundant library by going cloud-based vs. on-premise servers.

  ### 44. Canto Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin C. | Specialist, Digital Asset Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Intuitive
Clear and Concise
Easy to train new users
Dynamic Share/Download Links

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

It can be difficult to use efficiently when working with a lot of assets
Reporting is lacking
Can't remove assets from Download/Share Links
Cannot clear out previous searches in the Search Bar
Difficult to find, and eliminate duplicate assets even with the Duplicates album
A couple of processes open up a new window (versions, duplicates on uploads, etc.)
I wish I could filter by any field in the Metadata
I wish I could mass edit Metadata via excel sheet download
Canto infrastructure seems a tad too small for a business of Petsmart size

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is an excellently organized DAM that makes it easy for us to create and maintain catalogs that are clear to our users. It is our source of truth when it comes to assets, imagery, campaign toolkits, etc. and we are able to effectively and efficiently maintain it.

  ### 45. Wonderful Resource for our Creative Team

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lindsay R. | Creative Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto has brought organization to our huge library of images and files. I love being able to search an item number and see all the assets we have at a glance. It is also amazing how it works within indesign and I use it everyday. Creating shareable links for customers has also been a huge timesaving feature. When we first signed up Canto provided lengthy training and support it was easy to get started using the program and features.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The plug in to indesign can be slow, and it doesn't always replace images properly if using the same layout box. Otherwise the only drawback is the images are not accessible while working offline.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customers often need long lists of product images. Canto has been a huge time saver and allows us to send download links within minutes. The organization aspect is also amazing and has made reference photos from years ago super quick and easy.

  ### 46. An effective solution for accessing image assets in a remote workplace

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Canto?**

AI-powered tagging, ability to share assets

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

slow interface, limited power-user seats

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It lets us access our large library of event photos while working remotely. This allows our team to work hybrid or remote without relying on a local server for asset storage.

  ### 47. Incredible Platform and the Showcase of our Product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

This portal has been a Godsend to our company and really makes it easy to navigate and see everything our company has to offer our partners.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

The search bar function could really use some additions and personalization options. The tags and keywords is a good start, but the ability to customize HOW the search looks through folders and files would really make this go up another level.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It easily gives our partners and customers an open library experience.

**Official Response from Reagan Cola:**

> We’re so glad to hear Canto has made it easier for your partners to explore your content. Portals are one of our favorite features too. Your feedback on the search functionality is much appreciated and will be sure to share your suggestions with our product team as we work to improve the user experience. Cheers, Reagan!

  ### 48. A Visual Driven Solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Canto has helped bring order to what was once a chaotic collection of digital assets. The platform’s organizational capabilities are excellent, allowing me to easily sort, manage, and access files in a way that streamlines my workflow. I particularly appreciate how it enables me to review and compare assets visually, which is essential for my work.

The collaboration features make it simple to share assets with team members and leave detailed notes for feedback or updates. Overall, Canto has improved our asset management process and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a visual-driven DAM tool.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Sometimes it takes a few days for assets to show up in albums, particularly when dealing with bulk uploads.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organization

  ### 49. Almost great

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Canto?**

Good features. Cloud. Tagging. Good amount of storage/
Good integration for Adobe products

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

Would be helpful to implement as a subdomain or sub folder on client website

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data , asset management

  ### 50. Saving Time and Money

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy N. | Senior Manager Design Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Canto?**

I like that I can save time searching for photos. I don't have to wait until all of the thumbnails on laptop to populate to see my assets. The training on the system has also been very clear and understandable.

**What do you dislike about Canto?**

When I am in my Adobe programs, the images do not shrink down so that I can see the complete image, only a portion of the image unless I click on it to reveal the larger image.

**What problems is Canto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had duplicative assets in different areas -- sharepoint, file folders, with jobs, on individual laptops. Canto enables us to keep all approved assets in one central location. This saves us time and money. We are not purchasing or creating photos that we already have.
