The best thing I liked about Canonica Netplan is how easily it lets you manage networking. Its declarative approach simplifies network management, and it also makes broader system management easier. A few things I disliked: for simple tasks, it can become unnecessarily complex, although it’s very good when the complexity is high. Earlier, it was hard to learn and manage a variety of configuration methods. With its YAML configuration, it’s also easier to read and understand the settings at a glance. Ability to copy network configuration files for similar configurations from one device / server to another without having to run through an entire GUI / TUI setup. The YAML syntax was hard to grasp at first, and although the netplan try can check one config file, I did not see any warning for when you have multiple files conflicting as I ran into a very difficult issue with the network changing and booting connections, all because I had left a default YAML file in /etc/netplan/ that had a different configuration from the primary YAML file I intended to use and caused intermittent issues for the interface I configured it for. What's most useful with the tool is its ability to troubleshoot any challenge in your Linux system. All you need to do is to create a YAML, and the tool will regenerate the necessary DHCP once it detects your subscriber. Its an easy-to-use tool if you have networking and coding knowledge.
