There are multiple things that are good about Camunda, especially with the new AI agents that will help model our processess even quicker. We are using the self managed version, due to concerns regards dealing with PI data. We eould like to use the SaaS version if these concerns were not there. One thing that I fo not like too much is the user interaction of the Camunda Desktop. The people at Camunda really love their product and the whole idea of business process driven IT solutions. And at the same time, they are an engineering company, not a product sales organization with a few engineers in the background that should build a few features for the next version at the lowest possible cost. At Camunda the engineers are visible and really drive the development based on customer needs. As a result of that, the product provides the fullest vision of what an enterprise state machine requires and they've just shown that they are keeping up with the market and IT landscape by adding AI capabilities with AI ad hoc subprocesses in the upcoming version. What I like best about Camunda is its developer-friendly approach to process automation—especially its strong foundation in BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation), combined with its open architecture. A few standout aspects: 1. BPMN-first design: Camunda treats BPMN not just as a diagram but as executable code. That makes it easy for business and tech teams to collaborate without losing precision or control. 2. Open and flexible: Unlike many automation platforms, Camunda doesn’t lock you into a rigid ecosystem. You can integrate it with virtually anything—REST APIs, Kafka, RPA bots, microservices, legacy systems, etc. 3. Camunda 8 (SaaS + Zeebe): The move to Zeebe as the process engine brought true horizontal scalability and made it easier to run in cloud-native environments (like Kubernetes). 4. Operate, Tasklist & Optimize: These built-in tools provide great visibility into process execution, human task management, and data-driven insights—without needing to bolt on third-party software. 5. Community and Documentation: Camunda has a strong developer community, excellent docs, and a transparent product roadmap. It’s easy to get started, and there’s lots of shared knowledge out there. I’ve been working with Camunda for about a year now, and I really enjoy how intuitive and powerful it is for modeling and automating business processes. The BPMN approach is clear and easy to follow, and I appreciate the way processes can be visualized and managed.
