Camtasia has a wonderful interface that is so easy to understand and use. Sharing files and making branded updates is very easy with team members and external organizations. Pricing is reasonable and I have always found answers to my questions with support very easily. I have not ventured into the AI/Intelligence side of the platform, so no feedback on that. I use Camtasia for producing training materials using PowerPoint and video, and for voiceovers and translation into foreign languages. I really like the ease of use and the ability to edit video with powerful transitions and the ability to add subtitles. Creating training courses for learning management systems is very helpful, especially with users speaking different languages. Ease of use, just works out of the box and no setup needed. Basic setup is sufficient for most of my work and the onboarding is very smooth with a clean UX for even a new user. Background video remover is easy to use and superimposing my video over the background with basic cuts is easy. Pricing is reasonable and works well for my use case. Not as powerful as proper video editing tools. So might still need to go back to those for higher quality produced content. AI tools are still in early stages and would need more refinement over time. I don't actively use them much right now. I do miss the ability to integrate some of my existing AI tools and bring over skills from say Claude to help with edits the way I do with remotion for example. Integrating Audiate let me edit my voice track as if it were a text document—quickly removing filler words and awkward pauses—and then sync everything seamlessly back into Camtasia. The canvas tools also made it simple to maintain professional, consistent branding across all my videos with custom intro/outro slides, lower-third titles for formulas, and crisp screen-zoom annotations that keep students tightly focused on specific cells. Managing assets across multiple files is difficult. Undoing changes after a certain stage is also tough. More than once, I had to retake videos because issues came up—sometimes due to my own mistakes, and other times because of system problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I’ve used multiple versions of Camtasia over the years, and I’m currently on the latest Pro subscription. I really appreciate the assets Techsmith makes available both on their website and directly within Camtasia. The templates and pre-made components, like animated titles, are especially helpful for quickly putting together training videos for my job.

I consistently receive glowing feedback from my company on the quality of the videos I’m able to produce with Camtasia. The wide variety of transitions, the ability to create custom animations, the pre-designed behaviors, and the annotation highlights are all tremendously useful. Sadly, Camtasia's premium features are now available only to those willing to purchase a recurring subscription. I even called to see if I could bolt on Audiate and maintain my one-time user license, but that isn't the case. I understand recurring revenue and SAAS is kind of the way to go for tech companies, but I was really sad to be a long-time user who has purchased multiple licenses and maintenance agreements over the years, as well as promoting the product and getting other licensed users for them, only to be told that my past purchases didn't really matter, and the only way to have access to the "new and best" of Camtasia was to become a subscriber. I'll still use my last purchased license of Camtasia, but it is likely there are other products that would meet my needs, have the premium features I am looking for, and cost less, when the time comes to upgrade. I use Camtasia for creating instructional videos, and I like how it's very easy to work with and how quickly I can learn to make really good videos with it. I appreciate the built-in templates and elements that help me create impressive video effects fast. The design process in Camtasia is really easy. Since we are in a fast-paced organization, the speed and ease of use are really beneficial. There are also many assets available to use, which I find valuable. Camtasia is a great medium-weight editing tool for content creators. It's interface is very intuitive to use, and you can accomplish most of your video editing needs with just this one platform. It's not as complicated as using editing tools like Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro. Camtasia gives me the desired professional results that I need with my videos. What I like best about Camtasia is how easy it makes screen recording and video editing in one place. The interface is beginner-friendly, but it still has enough powerful features like annotations, callouts, cursor effects, transitions, voiceover, and quizzes to create polished training or tutorial videos. The main thing I dislike about Camtasia is that it can feel a bit heavy on system resources, especially when working with longer videos or multiple media elements. I would honestly say one of the best things is the ease of use. A lot of programs require extensive editing skills to create a polished and professional video. Camtasia does a really great job of keeping the user interface simple. It has a lot of additional features that are easy to integrate into your videos. It would be helpful if maybe there was a mode where those who do have more advanced editing skills could get into a more advanced userface. It seemed like some features were pay-locked behind higher level subscriptions.
