The ease of uploading a design or creating a new one on Cafepress is designed for even a true beginner. I found no downside to using Cafepress for anything with low numbers. If you are making mass quantities of something then you can probably find a bigger discount elsewhere. There is a scaled royalty structure; if you have a good following and time to devote to constant updating and growth of your storefront, you earn larger royalties. There is a scaled royalty structure; if you are looking for relatively passive income, don't have a large following, aren't consistently updating or actively trying to grow your storefront, you have bare minimum royalties. Additionally, the automatic scaling and sizing is lacking as a feature, and it's not easy to select which products you're enabling or disabling, especially if you're trying to enable all. It was a wonderful way to get my designs out to the world. However, it is no longer "passive" income, and in fact is barely income at all. You've got to love the customized designer feature on CafePress! Better than most competitors to say the least. What do you dislike about CafePress? My shipment did not come as expected, with no refund on the extra shipping charges I paid to get faster shipping. It came about 2 weeks later, so I missed my deadline. The quality was also not what I was expecting. The site is not very user friendly - there is an extremely confusing discrepancy between the Cafepress marketplace and Cafepress shops, with different rules, pricing structures, and appearances from the buyer's point of view. The customization is also somewhat clumsy and limited, so it requires a fair amount of technical knowledge and patience to get everything in order to your satisfaction, if you want to make sure everything looks great. Recommendations to others considering CafePress: Worth trying out, especially if you want branded merchandise but need someone else to handle the manufacture, distribution, and customer service related to that merchandise. Cafepress makes it easy to offer merchandise for our company along with customer support in a way that requires very little effort on our part, once the store is set up. Though they take a substantial cut of the items sold from your shop, it means you can essentially "set it and forget it" and if there's demand for your products, you can make some income.
