Byteboard has redesigned the interview experience to be more effective, efficient, and equitable for all. At its core, Byteboard provides two powerful tools rooted in project-based interview practices: CoreEval and CodeCollab, which seamlessly integrate to provide a comprehensive solution for hiring teams while offering candidates a great experience.
CodeCollab, the newest product in the Byteboard portfolio, provides a familiar interface to conduct the virtual-onsite interview. A collaborative live coding environment, CodeCollab flows seamlessly from the CoreEval assessment, and includes interview guides and content to drive more equity and consistency–leading to a better candidate experience and better hires. Using a familiar IDE based on Visual Studio Code, CodeCollab allows hiring teams to paircode and collaborate on multi-file codebases, run, test, and debug code, understand candidate communication and problem-solving skills, and adapt follow-up questions on the fly. Hiring teams can use Byteboard’s ready-to-go materials within CodeCollab–or start from scratch with their own content and/or a pre-loaded code configuration template. CoreEval offers project-based take-home assessments using real-work artifacts to evaluate candidates’ skills relevant to the job. Designed to replace technical phone screen rounds, CoreEval assessments include technical reasoning exercises and code implementation tasks to evaluate candidates across various domains, including fullstack engineering, staff backend engineering, applied AI and data engineering. Through these exercises, candidates can demonstrate skills like systems reasoning, clean code, trade-off analysis, and 20+ other domain-specific skills in a practical and familiar environment. Hiring Managers and recruiters receive an overall recommendation, alongside a detailed report on the candidate’s strengths and areas of opportunity. This helps teams quickly and effectively determine whether a candidate should advance to the next stage of the interview process, typically the virtual-onsite interview.
