Their instructions were not congruent with the actual app builder and their subscription fees were not disclosed. They are willing to provide features as part of a package deal only if you call them out on false advertising. The main features I was wanting to add to my app are Premium Plugins included in their business package (as listed on their packaged comparison page). These features were; Task Manager, On the go Push, Drip notification. The free builder was working flawlessly so I signed up for the Business package as their listing clearly shows that those features are included. If you look at the lower tier Growth package you can see that those features can be added to the growth package at $20 each, per month, and that is why I chose the business package. Another feature included which my app needed and is said to be included in the business package as a non premium plugin, is Geofence push notifications. 9/29/20 After signing up for the business package I waited 2 hours to send an email asking them why I could not access the features that are supposed to be included in the business package. A CSR (customer service representative) responded soon and said that the changes should take place in a couple of minutes but to go ahead and try logging out, clearing cache and logging back in. I did that and even used another browser with a clean cache with the same results, the features listed in their business package were still locked, my dashboard showed "Please upgrade to access this feature" and the Geo fencing section was still missing entirely. I checked their university guides and they were of no help because the guides did not show what my dashboard showed so there was no way for me to follow the instructions provided. I sent an email to the same CSR and he asked for a screen shot where the system was requiring an upgrade. After sending the screens shot, he replied stating that those are paid plugins that have additional subscription costs. Thinking I messed up, I replied and asked him about the Geo fence features that were not working and then went to check the package comparison page to see if I read what I thought I read about the cost. Realizing it was not my error I sent them a screen shot of their package comparison web page that shows which plugins that are listed as included in the business package. After 5 hours with no response I sent an email asking for cancelation and a refund. 30 minutes later I get an email asking why I want to cancel. My response *" Your app builder is not functioning as described in the instructions found in the Buildfire University. * Features were not released (or made available) upon my subscription upgrade. * I was told that the business subscription does not include items that are shown to be included on the upgrade page (Business package). * Geo Fencing is nowhere to be found as described in the University guides" A different CSR responded and asked what features I was expecting to receive so I informed him and sent a screen shot of their Package comparison page. 9/30 He replied with "Those features are in fact included on our Enterprise level account the business level does not include that." He attached a link to a video which showed the same package comparison page". I replied with "That is not what the screenshot below, from your website, alludes to. It clearly shows the additional fee on the growth package and shows included on the business package". 10/1 *** He replied with " Thank you for that screenshot. I do see that. I will need to get a license key for those features generated. I can certainly get those added ASAP. " *** So with that, even one of their own CSR’s acknowledges that the package comparison page does not say that those plugins have additional subscription costs and they were willing to add those features to my account. My reply “while I certainly do appreciate that offer, the support response hasn’t increased my confidence and I still want to cancel my subscription. If your instructions and support staff where up to date I would feel differently." Finally he acknowledged my request to cancel and said "I can understand your trepidation moving forward on this. I will get you connected with an Account Manager on the request to cancel." **What do you dislike about Buildfire?** Continuation from what I liked about Build fire. About 7 hours later on 10/2 another CSR steps in and emails me asking if I want to consult on the strategy for building the app, I replied with "Had I received confirmation sooner that someone there acknowledged the mis-representation of the packages, and what they include, I might be willing to have this conversation but I have already almost completed the app build with another platform. 10/5 the same CSR that said the request for cancellation would be issued sent an email indicating that they were offering : • Credit of one month to your account • Access to phone support which is not included on this level of plan that Point of Support would be with me • Also, access to any of our premium plugins you would like to use with the app. My reply: "If my apps submissions were not already done for itunes and play stores I might have considered entertaining this offer but I gave up hope that you all would be a good fit when I wasn't getting answers. This app build was/is being done for non profit groups, at no charge to the users and out of my pocket. My family could really use this money back. Their reply: I did speak with my manager and we will not be able to provide you with a refund per our terms of service, which you can view here: "c. Refunds. To assist the Customer in conducting a full and complete evaluation of all Services prior to purchase, we offer Customer access to a free version of the Service, free access to our support department and free access to our entire library of support resources. Customer acknowledges they have reviewed and tested all necessary Service functionality and support material needed to make an informed and final purchase decision. Conclusion. The app builder worked so well in the initial build sections that I assumed unlocking the paid features was going to be a continuation of the same type of performance. It was only after subscribing to access for the locked sections that I discovered that the app builder was not working. Their instructions were not congruent with actual app builder and their subscription fees were not disclosed. **What problems is Buildfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** I successfully got rid of $1,047.00 for an app that did not have all of the features that they list on their package comparison page. It was like magic, one minute I thought I had $1,000 worth of product and the next minute I had neither! Superb on their part! ### 10. I have used a number of alternatives and spent a lot of time battling bugs and issues across platforms. Buildfire is however robust and very simple to use. The cost is fairly average for the service and if you can live with Progressive Web Apps then you don't need the more expensive options to deploy native iOS and Android apps. The suite of add-ons is comprehensive and gets you up and running with basic tools for user engagement. App analytics is well covered by integration with Segment. I particularly like the ability to connect to RSS feeds for news updates. **What do you dislike about Buildfire?** Be aware that data is pinned to US data centre's and cannot be pinned elsewhere which may impact your Information Governance requirements and policies. BuildFire have said they can locate data on other AWS regions but imagine this will come at a significant cost. Also BuildFire does not support SAML 2.0 for Single Sign-on but this is on their road map. **Recommendations to others considering Buildfire:** Service is in USD and credit card only. Be aware of Information Governance if you are outside the United States. **What problems is Buildfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** BuildFire solved the problem of rapidly deploying an App to support user engagement. We primarily are using it to keep staff updated on Digital Innovations. The ability to simply send in-app notifications is really helpful. ### 12. Their customer team knows nothing about the progress and their development team keeps making mistakes driving App Store and Google play declining the submission. They did offer 2 month free subscription to make up the loss, but honestly, the app launch delay is invocable. ### 13. The benefit that I get from this program is that I get technical support and a platform that will help me in the step-by-step creation of my program taking advantage of the various templates offered to give life to these applications, although basic knowledge does not it may never be missing so that you can use this platform correctly since if you do not know the basic principles of creating apps this program will not help you at all ### 17.
