If you know your way around Wordpress or around the Office suite, you'll learn your way around the app builder in no time. It is the easiest platform I could find out there to build an app without coding abilities. The DIY app building is priced fairly, and their support team was quick to respond and knowledgeable enough to make a positive difference or solve my problems every time I reached out. **What do you dislike about Buildfire?** By its easy-to-use nature, the DIY app builder has its limits. Before committing, make sure you know what these limits are and whether you really can build your app with the features you need, as their custom development services are considerably more expensive. Certain bugs or issues have persisted over the 4 years we've had our app. For example, the in-app browser feature that allows you to open a webpage in the app still does not have a back button to leave the in-app browser and return to the app's homescreen. Luckily, an option exists to open webpages using the devices' default browser (Safari/Chrome). **Recommendations to others considering Buildfire:** Before committing, make sure you know what the limits to the DIY app builder are and whether you really can build your app with all the features you need, as their custom development services are considerably more expensive. **What problems is Buildfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our public schools were using a free service called Remind to send SMS text messages to their students' parents. Remind suddenly became unaffordable, and our mobile app became part of the solution. We used our app primarily to send bussing delay notices to parents in case of inclement weather, as push notifications. The app also has an important role in our schools' emergency preparedness plan (fire, tornadoes, armed intruder), but we haven't yet had to use it for that (hopefully we never have to!). ### 2. The preview window can vary significantly from what displays on a live phone. I don't like tech and I am not good at it. But the interface is almost simple, and when you get stuck there is always help within reach. The training resources helped me to build out the app and the customer service IT team helps me when the resources are not enough. So I am never on my own. This app has allowed us to reach a much larger audience in a whole new way, adding a powerful new income stream to our business. **What do you dislike about Buildfire?** The only thing I dislike is that now I have no excuse to not do the thing I was scared to do, which is branch out of my comfort zone. :) It was easy to hold back from it when I couldn't do it myself and couldn't afford to hire someone to do it for me. SO THANKFUL FOR BUILDFIRE (AND IT'S TEAM!!) **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Lindsey C. | Owner of Peptalks, Owner of Third Story Apartment, Host of the Daring Romantics Podcast, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2021 **What do you like best about Buildfire?** buildfire has been a game-changer for my business, brand, and the impact i am able to make in my community. after trying a few other "build-on-your-own" app platforms and not being satisfied, i found buildfire and quickly became obsessed with how easy it was to use and the wide range of features available. i was able to create an app that i love and i am proud of and that serves my community well without breaking the bank. throughout the process of building and launching my app, the buildfire team was incredibly helpful. honestly, their team is one of the best and most helpful teams i have ever encountered —always patient and willing to go the extra mile to help. i couldn't be more thankful to have found buildfire and for the ability to create an app on my own. **What do you dislike about Buildfire?** the only downside of buildfire is that you're obviously working with templates, so there are noturally limitations that you come up against while creating an app. however, the buildfire team is amazing and is always offering suggestions about how to accomplish what i want in an innovative way that works within the confines of the app. **Recommendations to others considering Buildfire:** buildfire is a great option if you want to make an app on your own. my biggest recommendation (if you're not already familiar with graphic design) would be to hire someone who can help you with design. while you can build the app on your own through the drag and drop features, having a compelling design is what is going to give you the ability to workaround some of the limitations and to make the app uniquely yours. **What problems is Buildfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** one of the biggest reasons why i wanted to work to build an app through buildfire was to monetize my content/writing. the platform has given me the ability to take my writings and put them in a central hub that my audience can enjoy and experience, and allows me to get paid for writing through paid subscriptions. in addition, i wanted to be able to reach my audience directly without worrying about if they'll see my content because of an algorithm. with buildfire, i am able to send push notifications to my audience and never have to worry about fighting an alogrithm. my content is pushed straight to their phone. as a result, my audience is now more likely to screenshot my push notification messages and post them to social media— hence, organically growing my reach. ### 26. Cropping and adjusting pictures for your apps needs a lot more development work and help to be helpful. **Recommendations to others considering Buildfire:** Read the programs in their university section first, then play a lot with the program to see all the hidden programs. **What problems is Buildfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having a program that most office personnel can work with for quick and easy changes is a great asset. I can make changes on my tablet the day we are at a show and need to sponsor a product or company name. Just build, change and upload—that easy. ### 28. I can tailor the app features (there are a vast variety to choose from) to suit the real estate agents' needs. This is a single company use app (one US state, 7 individually owned real estate brokerage franchises with the same name and 800 +/- agents), so I have geared it toward their specificifications. The customer service is very prompt, and they are always so friendly. This is as easy to use as Excel once you learn a few basics. **What do you dislike about Buildfire?** Having to remind people manually update the app (they won't get the popup reminder) if they leave it open or to close out of the app and reopen it to get the current content (with the popup update reminder). **What problems is Buildfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's and instantaneous resource for on-the-go agents to utilize via their smart device at home, during an open house, during a showing or in their car . The app holds a certification card that can be accessed 24/7. No lost laminated certification cards. No immediate urgency to contact someone to verify that they are certified in this particular course. This can cost them commission should they not have their proof of certification at the proper time. ### 29. This only seemed to happen in the middle of the night. As this happened, I would just work on other components while the system calmed down. Every time I revisited the project, the system was back working seamlessly. Minor inconvenience at best. Just had to roll with it. It's worth mentioning that I was making dozens of rapid updates/changes within a short period of time, which may have caused some lag. **Recommendations to others considering Buildfire:** Highly recommend this platform for anyone who has the time/patience to invest in their own app (or money to have BuildFire create one for you). I have been able to build a great looking app that doesn't feel templated at all (because it's not!). It was also the only service that gave the option of using pre-made plugins yet also allowing me to hire a developer to build custom ones, which in the end is what allowed me to build an app that did exactly what I wanted it to do. **What do you dislike about Buildfire?** The more I got into building an app, there were certain features that I was wanting but were not offered (currently) in Buildfire.
