I'm a software developer, and would prefer to just write software. However if you want to start VERY quickly, and not deal with authentication / accounts, database management, hosting, etc, then this tool is pretty good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Bubble? There's a lot of "quirks" that you'll just have to learn to make it work. The order or methodology for writing Bubble expressions can sometimes be extremely fidgety. Also, it sometimes appears "unstable" and you'll spend a while trying to work out what is wrong with how you're trying to do something, when the answer is "refresh the page" to make something work. It's very good a prototyping, building something quick, and then building something slightly different. We've managed to do this very quickly. However, at no point do I want to stay on Bubble forever. Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) 5/6/2024 "Great functionality and weak UI" 3.5/5 What do you like best about Bubble? – I can set up a non-complicated product with a data-base, external API call and custom user flow just in a couple of hours. – Bubble workflows are powerful. – Reusable elements. – Prebuilt Login/Sign up component with basic workflow. – Development and Production stages + Version control. – Instant preview and debugging mode. – Free trial was useful. – Responsiveness control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Bubble? – Awful UI. I spend a lot of time just trying to find very common things. The worst part is element inspector. There are no hints and icons, you just need to remember what lies where, without visual prompts. Just look at how Webflow does it to understand the difference. Comparing to modern no-code platforms Bubble UI looks completely outdated. – No CSS classes in the core of product. Instead of this Bubble elements could be natively triggered by #id. You need to install additional plugin to have a control over CSS if you are developer. – Can't view custom CSS effect on preview. Why just not to add 100vh or 'position: sticky' in the native elements control? – Weak native 'table' component. I was trying to built notion-like rows and there were no option to control this table after publishing in user-interface. – No pre-built tabs component – everything should be set up manually using custom states. – No CMS. Maybe this is not a Bubble priority but If you need to set up SEO friendly blog (which is actually a data-base) you will be surprise you can't just create .../blog and .../blog/article URL structure – but you need to use URL routing plugin to hack this. – Default settings of elements sometimes are annoying. If I put a line of text on the canvas it's already has minimum fixed height and width. And I always have to put everything to zero manually. – Custom font setup was found to be so tricky. There are some arbitrary bugs – for example, linking a User object as a child of another object and trying to access User object data is buggy for no reason. Installing plugins from its Marketplace enhances our visual elements giving them distinctive recognition among our clients. Since it's quite new platform, hence the learning curve to use its extensive plugins would take considerable time. We utilize Bubble to organize our project workflow, and since it offers great flexibility, we are able to cope with complications involving task intersections. Since many action items come under the same workflow, conflicts are pretty common, but Bubble provides distinct labeling for our elements to categorize our project activities. Also, we can track our KPI on a real-time basis, which is critical in analyzing task allocation to our team members. The ability to rapidly create and deploy functionality is amazing - on good days I can get done in a few hours would take a team of 5 people (BA, Devs, QA) a week or more. Several things: 1) things that used to work suddenly break without warning and the resolution is sometimes bubble fixing a bug or me having to spend hours redoing something that worked 2) sometimes you are just swimming up stream - something you want to do just seems to be "anti-bubble" and you have to hunt for work-arounds 3) silly things are missing - for example, for years there was no built in way to format JSON. There are no variables in backend workflows. You can't send multiple values to a custom event. 4) The responsive mode is a nightmare 5) When there is an issue, getting support isn't as easy as it could be Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
