Our prior content management system had so many limitations that the BSP CMS is incredibly refreshing and allows so much more leniency. It's allowed our analysts a lot more freedom to create articles while at the same time offering easy features. This has helped our analysts and subedit team to process and publish so much quicker but still quite efficiently. **What do you dislike about Brightspot?** I'm on the Operations side of the house and am an Admin on the tool. I've sometimes found it a bit difficult to create and set limited roles. Using Brightspot developers and our own internal developers, we've been able to customize the CMS to meet our needs and simplify our publishing workflows. Continued development of the platform ensures that as the web ecosystem evolves, so too will our CMS. **What do you dislike about Brightspot?** While using the CMS as a publisher is really straightforward, some of the settings can be a little confusing/counter-intuitive. However, once you get them configured, you rarely need to change them, so it's a relatively minor complaint. Also, many of the features are separate modules, so you have to make sure they are added on if you want them, otherwise the features will be absent. Has many features for the content management system **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Priyanka U. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020 **What do you like best about Brightspot?** The Brightspot UI came in with many basic features and some special features that helped us develop and get the service up and running in a very short period of time. the Brightspot engineers were also very proactive in response during any issues or breakdowns or even enhancements needed. **What do you dislike about Brightspot?** The UI has everything but if we want any change then the source code to be changed is from scratch. it is not too flexible for new widgets which are out of scope for Brightspot. **What problems is Brightspot solving and how is that benefiting you?** content management system had to be up and never have issues for us and also we were developing small widgets to integrate within content management system (CMS) where we used brightspot it was very easy and efficient. ### 31. It's pretty basic and is missing the bells and whistles of other CMS programs. **Recommendations to others considering Brightspot:** This is a great tool to try out with your team and see if it fits. After using the platform for a few times, Brightspot makes it easy to understand how to create content and make revisions. It is also a good platform in that it is seamless to train new users. **What do you dislike about Brightspot?** It can be tricky to add video content to pages in Brightspot but we have a few workarounds in place to make it work. Also, when adding embed code snippets for contests, we have to add it at the very end of creating an article page or HTML will override it. **Recommendations to others considering Brightspot:** Brightspot is easy to use and has been a positive asset as it relates to my position in the company. **What problems is Brightspot solving and how is that benefiting you?** Brightspot allows our multiple media properties to create articles both for editorial and sponsored content. We can easily share out articles for multiple sites to replicate as appropriate. Some benefits we have realized are that it offers a streamlined platform to create articles. We have been able to build out templates to help regulate site formatting requirements as well. ### 35. Their developers were more than willing to work with our internal development team to tweak or build out custom features based off our organization's needs. The Brightspot UI is very clean, which seemed to make it much more approachable to senior staff that did not need to work within the software as often as our power users. This design, as well as thorough documentation, really made it easy to train new/existing staff when we transitioned to Brightspot from the CMS we were previously using. **What do you dislike about Brightspot?** From an admin perspective, Brightspot could refine the design of their pages setting user roles/permissions. On the plus side, permissions are extremely comprehensive and you can cherry-pick by every content type/feature in your wheelhouse...but this is the only portion of the CMS where the UI was lacking (despite great functionality). **What problems is Brightspot solving and how is that benefiting you?** When we implemented Brightspot, we were able to create a "Global" site within the CMS that allowed employees to share content seamlessly across the 26 brands we were publishing content to at the time. We also were able to streamline our newsletter process by automating the build process (by scrubbing content published within a specific timeframe depending on the frequency of the newsletter). ### 36. I'm not able to right click and paste in some sections (crtl-V works) but I am in other sections. Additionally, sometimes I am unable to publish certain things, and Brightspot doesn't offer much insight as to why - you kind of have to figure it out yourself. **Recommendations to others considering Brightspot:** Training folks who are less-than-"techy" may take a little bit of time, however, it is a relatively reliable program with few shortcomings. **What problems is Brightspot solving and how is that benefiting you?** I find it's useful for us, because everyone on the team gets their own login. ## Brightspot Discussions -
