Previously we used Sharepoint and Excel forms to track the demand submissions. This required a lot of manual intervention and it was not user friendly. From a user interface and user experience point of view as well, Sharepoint Forms or Microsoft Forms were not as friendly. In our organisation specifically there was a huge lag whenever it comes to using sharepoint. We moved into BrightIdea to have better transparency of the demand tracking as well as collaborate to populate benefit numbers. We are still at an early stage of adoption (we launched the pipeline in June) so not but benefit yet. I love Brightidea in multiple quantities because it provides a canvas to create whatever it takes to get the entire staff involved in the open innovation session, to acquire a fairly fluid work, for every member belonging to some company, according to the idea management, mentioning that it allows insertions of videos, images, personalized design, documentation and among other characteristics that this software maintains, the use of the system is incredible since it allows users to easily share their ideas or comments regarding a project in your process. We can highlight that the project management part in other integrated platforms could characterize an easier use, in order to connect the idea from the beginning to its execution, in a simpler way, since it acquires very complicated and difficult determinations to use, lagging the margin of work in a very fluid way, not excluding that in larger organizations, having several suppliers and readers of prioritized ideas can be a challenge. The fact that the voting and comments do not require any setting up at all and are out-of-the-box. Also the interface and visual nature of the pipeline is very nice. Admin settings found in different places are the biggest gripe, in particular the differences in vocabulary used on different parts of the site can make it hard to navigate. I also feel that some of the tools (e.g. Find Owner) seem designed for a very specific out-of-box use case, and they can therefore be difficult to adapt to different situations (e.g. using a Find Owner tool without going using the 'implementation' step). Not only is the interface clean and built for someone with little to no coding background, but there are numerous features that can be turned on or off with a single click, which helps to accommodate the range of potential crowdsourcing or social innovation initiatives that a large organization like Merck might want to run. The tool makes it very easy to send out mass emails to the reviewers in the flow, rather than doing the work and then getting distracted with other tasks when you are trying to ask for the next steps. In addition, the single page per submission is immensely helpful for knowledge management and social engagement. All relevant parties can connect to the idea, creating a thread of potential users which is so much better than following email threads. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Brightidea Innovation Management? What I find missing is a very detailed representation of the typical timeline in a playbook for each initiative. For example, use this initiative to run a shark tank competition. 2 months before you need to identify a sponsor. 1 week before you send this type of email. 2 days in post on the blog, etc. Having this as part of each of the standard playbooks would be very valuable. We've used the tool for a range of crowdsourcing efforts, from choosing a name for a new development facility, to administering awards across a global organization of \>10,000 people, to a submission portal for innovative ideas. We've seen \>50% of the organization participate in a recent awards process, with \>600% more submissions then the previous process. People are engaging with the submissions, getting into upvoting competitions and sending links around for all to see. This has increased demand for new initiatives at the local level, with my personal creation of 20 separate sites in 2019 alone. We are experimenting with the additional tools and capabilities (Business Impact tracking, Community statistics) and look forward to watching participation and impact grow with time.
