"I enjoy working with Brackets a lot"
What do you like best about Brackets?

Brackets is one of the key tools that a UI designer should have. It is designed to give the best experience when you're developing the UI components of you app. The fact that there is a welcome page on initial install that tries to guide the user on how to use it is one of the things I love about it because it does not assume that everyone knows everything to do with code editors.

There is also a comprehensive plugins page that is always updated by the brackets community so that you will almost always find a plugin for whatever you want to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

Brackets is mainly focused on giving the programmer an immersive experience while developing for the frontend. However, there is very little support for backend languages like Ruby. This means that you have to keep switching between IDEs if you are developing both sides on your own Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effective coding at one stop!"
What do you like best about Brackets?

Brackets is by far the most effective code editor I have used. The simplified integration provided for web projects makes it one of the best out there. Important points to be considered are its free and open source. The quick edit features, code auto completion and suggestions are to point and much useful while coding. Other editors gets sluggish while auto completing codes but brackets works perfect all times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

From a personal point of view, I prefer brackets for front end development only, I am still unable to find it much useful for the backend or server side work such as stack for php or node. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Brackets Text editor"
What do you like best about Brackets?

As more favorable things I've seen as soon as I start using it is that it is for many languages, more than 20, and all the most used operating systems. It is also free, open source and is updated regularly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

Perhaps the weakest point is that in the initial installation it lacks some very useful features such as viewing the files we are working with by tabs. Although it is solved in a simple way, they install the appropriate plug-in.

The configuration of the preferences of the application is a bit complicated for those of us who started programming, since we have to modify a json file. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple yet effective text editor!"
What do you like best about Brackets?

Brackets is the best front end text editor. The chrome preview option which reflects changes as you type is a boon. The colour picker is very easy to use and helps a lot when writing CSS. The option to jump from HTML to write a new CSS rule for the same is an awesome feature. It allows you to use bezier curve editor for CSS as well which is a massive help in a wide variety of cases. JSLint and additional packages that can be added just make life easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

The text editor is slightly language favoured. Though you are free to use almost any language in it, the editor prefers HTML, CSS, Js or interpreted languages like Python and Ruby. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Functional editor, innovative but disappointing in many aspects"
What do you like best about Brackets?

I'll start by saying that Brackets, from the first installation and first launch, aims and proves to be more of an editor for web developers than for system administrators, configuration provisioning, and scripting. However, I tried and used it for about 4 months, continuously updating it to the latest stable versions released almost monthly. It weighs 60 MB, but once running, it requires considerable and continuous resources to smoothly use a decent number of features, even simple ones like find and replace using regular expressions. This aspect did not deter me, but from recent versions, it no longer natively supports YAML and additional markup and markdown languages except through external extensions, making it and itself unusable for editing Linux configurations, Ansible (RedHat), netplan, and similar operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

Despite being 60 MB, it requires high and continuous hardware resources compared to other source code editors (some even more functional and performant), it does not natively support collaborative editing and is unable to interpret, suggest autocompletion, and perform syntax highlighting for some configuration languages structured in markup and markdown recently introduced in the Linux and Ubuntu world. "Really complete and great programers text editor"
What do you like best about Brackets?

the live visualization of html code in a chrome window as you type and modify you can see how it affects the website result, great for people starting to code and dont know how will it look, and it saves time so you dont have to be openning the html elsewhere each time tou make a change, it also has dark mode and many other extentions to make the experience personilize for each user and needs, its a really powerfull and complete text editor Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

sometimes feels a bit slow when openning for the first time, could be a little lighter in install size Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I very likely Brackets to sorce edit"
What do you like best about Brackets?

The first beautiful thing about bracket is it's an open-source code editor meaning it's free. The editor provides you with hints, live preview and preprocessor help as a programmer. The editor mainly supports distinct web development programming languages. The user interface is friendly and simpler to use other than what it can do. It helps you spot mistakes in typing and even syntax errors depending on the language of programming you use, i.e. PHP, Python, javascript, CSS. Especially if you are a web developer, this is the best program to use. The editor provides you with a live preview that helps you to test JavaScript while writing or editing the code that is a challenge to other publishers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

I haven't discovered anything to hate for the moment I've been using brackets, but I'd enjoy if it backed a lot of languages, not just a few. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Brackets is the leading text editor in customization"
What do you like best about Brackets?

Brackets is a very interesting text editor. What I like most is its application to detect errors in the code. On the other hand, it is a customizable software with good themes to improve the interface. Among other things, it has an excellent syntax verification tool. In addition, this software can carry out large or small projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

This editor is usually slow. It may take more than a minute to start the application, compared to other editors such as Notepad ++ that start quickly. In addition, sometimes it can be closed without warning if you are working on a computer with few resources since the memory will not support it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good tool for web design"
What do you like best about Brackets?

Built -in Live Preview is definitely Brackets' coolest feature. You get to view how the changes you make in your code will impact the app almost on a line by line basis. In fact, when you edit CSS, the tag that is being worked on at any particular point time will be highlighted. What is so amazing is the fact that now even changes in PHP can be visualized on the browser. This is obviously a big win because when brackets was first launched, it didn't even have support for backend languages like PHP and now it can even reload changes on it.

Popup previews , especially with hex color codes, helps me to visualize and know the exact color that I am in search of. It also happens for images within the project structure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

The shortcoming of Live Preview is that it can only be achieved on a chrome window environment. This is obviously highly inconsiderate given the fact that developers try to imagine all scenarios of web usage where different clients use different browsers such as Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

Brackets can only support web development languages in its out-of-the-box functionality which is not ideal because there are other languages used for other functions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple text editor for designing UI"
What do you like best about Brackets?

Brackets' focus on front end development is a refreshing entry in a pool of editors and IDEs which mostly focus on backend languages like php and relegate html, javascript and css as afterthoughts. I have com to learn that is is exponentially easier to write design user interface modules on brackets than it is on any other editor.

Brackets Live Preview feature is also one of the best things about it too. It enables you to view files in the browser with server behaviour instead of going through the file:/// format which a lot of times fails to emulate how a server would actually respond. And the fact that this can be achieved with the mere click of the mouse instead of writing up code for a server is actually underrated in my opinion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

Well, Brackets' biggest upside is also its main upset to me. The fact that it focuses a lot on the front end part of web design means that it does not effectively implement features that can assist in backend development. For instance, support for languages such as php and pythons is so rudimentary that you won't really enjoy working with such languages on it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
