"Excels for User Interface development"

3.5/5

What do you like best about Brackets?

Brackets' built in extension manager is what makes it stand out for me as compared to other tools like sublime text and even visual studio code. You do not have to go to the editors plugins page and download the plugin before installing it on Brackets as is commonly done by those extensions. Instead, with Brackets, all you have to do is open the extensions manager and start searching for something related to what you want and you'l have choices to pick from.

Brackets' Live Preview feature also sets it apart from every other text editor in the market. You do not have to install an additional plugin to achieve this and neither do you have to write your own code to implement server features Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

There's still plenty of standard text editor commands that Brackets is missing. Some of these features include gutter selection of lines, auto-filling search field with the highlighted text under caret, transforming selected text to upper or lower case, and remembering previous searches.

Brackets is also mostly designed for developing web apps and sites specifically the front end. And even though it is really worth using in this context, you end up feeling like a lot is missing when you want to use code languages like C, C++ and Java on Brackets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Brackets:

Definitely go for Brackets if you are already thinking about it. It's a decision that you won't regret. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Brackets solving and how is that benefiting you?

Even though I focus mostly on server-side scripting and database integration, occasionally I need to design a few front end modules to test my backend code. Brackets makes it easier for me like this particularly with the live preview feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Brackets is an amazing front end editor"

3.5/5

What do you like best about Brackets?

Just like its parent company Adobe, Brackets is primarily concerned with front end development. This means it gives special and extra attention to user interface elements and the languages used to craft UI modules. Writing CSS, HTML and javascript on Brackets is refereshing in such a way that you feel connected to what you are doing.

There is the feature of Live Preview that puts all of this into perspective. You get to see your changes live on the browser which means you know what every single line of code does to your app. This also makes it easier to debug your code because it's easier to identify the point at which things started to go wrong with your code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

The downside to focusing on just one element of web development is that every other aspect is left hanging with bare minimum support. Trying to build the backend to your applicaiton on Brackets can become frustrating considering it does not wholly support languages like PHP and Ruby as much as it does the front end ones.

Brackets is also a little luggish and will occassionally either make your computer to hang or the app itself becomes unresponsive. This setback is heightened especially when the project you're working on contains many files in it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Brackets:

You can only fully enjoy using Brackets if most of your work involves designing user interfaces thus it is only in this scenario that I would recommend that you try it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Brackets solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Brackets a lot when designing UI features particularly using Angularjs. It's refreshing and easier to work on it than most other editors that I've used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Edit free with Brackets"

4/5

What do you like best about Brackets?

Brackets is not one of the best IDE's I have worked with, although brackets offers a wide variety of tools that facilitate coding, and one of the best features that it incorporates for me, is the real-time visualization of the website, you can carry out changes in the site, which in case you are going to see them on the screen.

Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

Its characteristic star the visualization of the site in real time, it is not very polished for now, it does not have great stability it has hangings, blackouts. although this is normal to use node, which only works with a system core, and this could be one of the main causes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Brackets:

Brackets is free and customizable, it's worth a try and judge for yourself Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Brackets solving and how is that benefiting you?

Brackets is free which has saved us a lot of money over the last 3 years, brackets is still updated, so this is another point in favor to give you a chance despite these "failures more above indicated " Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I enjoy working with Brackets a lot"

4/5

What do you like best about Brackets?

Brackets is one of the key tools that a UI designer should have. It is designed to give the best experience when you're developing the UI components of you app. The fact that there is a welcome page on initial install that tries to guide the user on how to use it is one of the things I love about it because it does not assume that everyone knows everything to do with code editors.

There is also a comprehensive plugins page that is always updated by the brackets community so that you will almost always find a plugin for whatever you want to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

Brackets is mainly focused on giving the programmer an immersive experience while developing for the frontend. However, there is very little support for backend languages like Ruby. This means that you have to keep switching between IDEs if you are developing both sides on your own Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Brackets:

Brackets is an amazing tool especially if your workings will be limited to Javascript, CSS and HTML so you should try it out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Brackets solving and how is that benefiting you?

Brackets is my go to editor whenever I have simple UI components that I need to create. At times I also us it for more complex situations but it all depends on the type of framework I'll be using at the time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effective coding at one stop!"

5/5

What do you like best about Brackets?

Brackets is by far the most effective code editor I have used. The simplified integration provided for web projects makes it one of the best out there. Important points to be considered are its free and open source. The quick edit features, code auto completion and suggestions are to point and much useful while coding. Other editors gets sluggish while auto completing codes but brackets works perfect all times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

From a personal point of view, I prefer brackets for front end development only, I am still unable to find it much useful for the backend or server side work such as stack for php or node. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Brackets:

As any one would expect the code editor to have auto completion feature so that the coding gets easy and one does not have to remember all the syntax other features like quick editing, high lighting codes and proper formatting are added bonus , I would highly recommend bracket for front end web development, it is possibly the best tool in market right now. Also it being ope source, developer community makes valuable contributions frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Brackets solving and how is that benefiting you?

The problem that we had other code editors being sluggish and slow for code completion and managing quick edits, brackets come in much handy. Other than that live preview feature is very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Brackets Text editor"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Brackets?

As more favorable things I've seen as soon as I start using it is that it is for many languages, more than 20, and all the most used operating systems. It is also free, open source and is updated regularly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

Perhaps the weakest point is that in the initial installation it lacks some very useful features such as viewing the files we are working with by tabs. Although it is solved in a simple way, they install the appropriate plug-in.

The configuration of the preferences of the application is a bit complicated for those of us who started programming, since we have to modify a json file. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Brackets:

It would be advisable to incorporate several utilities into the primary installation that must be added later with plug-ins such as the code folding, Emmet or the tab manager. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Brackets solving and how is that benefiting you?

It has helped me to easily modify certain parts of my company's website code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple yet effective text editor!"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Brackets?

Brackets is the best front end text editor. The chrome preview option which reflects changes as you type is a boon. The colour picker is very easy to use and helps a lot when writing CSS. The option to jump from HTML to write a new CSS rule for the same is an awesome feature. It allows you to use bezier curve editor for CSS as well which is a massive help in a wide variety of cases. JSLint and additional packages that can be added just make life easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

The text editor is slightly language favoured. Though you are free to use almost any language in it, the editor prefers HTML, CSS, Js or interpreted languages like Python and Ruby. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Brackets:

Front end developers will find Brackets really helpful. If you are someone who works a lot in CSS, HTML or Js you will love it. Anyone even looking for a simple text editor which is fast can pick this up. The package support is also rapidly increasing so you can get necessary packages by asking in the repository or by writing your own. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Brackets solving and how is that benefiting you?

This editor is a lot more customizable than most other editors available. It being open-sourced also adds to its appeal. The front end specific tools the editor offers is such a good collection which makes life easier. The number of times I have used the colour picker in the editor when writing CSS is uncountable. I generally use Brackets when I am working on front-end projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Functional editor, innovative but disappointing in many aspects"

2.5/5

What do you like best about Brackets?

I'll start by saying that Brackets, from the first installation and first launch, aims and proves to be more of an editor for web developers than for system administrators, configuration provisioning, and scripting. However, I tried and used it for about 4 months, continuously updating it to the latest stable versions released almost monthly. It weighs 60 MB, but once running, it requires considerable and continuous resources to smoothly use a decent number of features, even simple ones like find and replace using regular expressions. This aspect did not deter me, but from recent versions, it no longer natively supports YAML and additional markup and markdown languages except through external extensions, making it and itself unusable for editing Linux configurations, Ansible (RedHat), netplan, and similar operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

Despite being 60 MB, it requires high and continuous hardware resources compared to other source code editors (some even more functional and performant), it does not natively support collaborative editing and is unable to interpret, suggest autocompletion, and perform syntax highlighting for some configuration languages structured in markup and markdown recently introduced in the Linux and Ubuntu world. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Brackets solving and how is that benefiting you?

I haven't encountered any particular problems with Brackets; it's a very simple source code editor that performs its job quite well without freezing or crashing. It has been useful to me for the occasional modification of HTML and CSS source code of a web page related to the front-end of a panel that needs to be customized with company logos. I found the native real-time live preview on the default browser to be really useful and well done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Really complete and great programers text editor"

5/5

What do you like best about Brackets?

the live visualization of html code in a chrome window as you type and modify you can see how it affects the website result, great for people starting to code and dont know how will it look, and it saves time so you dont have to be openning the html elsewhere each time tou make a change, it also has dark mode and many other extentions to make the experience personilize for each user and needs, its a really powerfull and complete text editor Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

sometimes feels a bit slow when openning for the first time, could be a little lighter in install size Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Brackets:

is in my opinion one of the best text editors for programers it has a rich store of extentions to make brackets even better, i have tried many other text editors like sublime, atom and visual studio code, but brackets is my favorite i use it for all my work Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Brackets solving and how is that benefiting you?

i use it to code my websites, helps me learn html and css propieties as it has great autocomplete and funtions and tag information about each programing lenguage Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I very likely Brackets to sorce edit"

4/5

What do you like best about Brackets?

The first beautiful thing about bracket is it's an open-source code editor meaning it's free. The editor provides you with hints, live preview and preprocessor help as a programmer. The editor mainly supports distinct web development programming languages. The user interface is friendly and simpler to use other than what it can do. It helps you spot mistakes in typing and even syntax errors depending on the language of programming you use, i.e. PHP, Python, javascript, CSS. Especially if you are a web developer, this is the best program to use. The editor provides you with a live preview that helps you to test JavaScript while writing or editing the code that is a challenge to other publishers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Brackets?

I haven't discovered anything to hate for the moment I've been using brackets, but I'd enjoy if it backed a lot of languages, not just a few. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Brackets:

Anyone who is programming, mainly when using javascript, should attempt brackets. IT's got the live preview, and mostly it's a fantastic user interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Brackets solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use brackets to create, update and add more characteristics to the business website. For my use, which is developing my sites, I also use it privately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
