It temporarily solved the issues we were having with file sharing. In many cases the size of the deliverables exceeded the limits for gmail attachments. Well I used to really like it and then it got so expensive and they started with these high pressure tactics to set up all these meetings and then upsell you stuff you don't need, then they end up just looking at your plan and making up reasons to double your costs when it's already exorbitantly priced. For many years I was a satisfied user of Box, when they had the now depreciated Box Sync App. All worked mostly fine, the pricing was ok, but not perfect Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Box? When Box forced me to upgrade to Box Driver, the trouble started. Box did a backup of my old files, which was good. However as it switched from Box Sync to Box Drive, not all files where transferred. The problem was, I did not know which ones were transferred and which ones weren't. So I had to check every file. But the real trouble is, with Box Drive, they created Schroedinger's files on my computer. Not all files show up on Box.com, so I don't know whether they are fully updated to the cloud or are on my computer or somewhere else in the universe. The little update icons turned out to be pretty useless. For context, I am using a 2017 iMac, so the old Mac might not be fully compatible with Box Drive. But if you offer cloud hosting it's your job to ensure compatibility across all devices. I am now about to collect my files, move them to another cloud hosting and cancel and never return to Box. After entering cc info, said error message and need to open a support ticket. Just to pay. Tried another card. Same. used different service that actually functions. Nothing. No one likes anything about Box. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Box? It's difficult to share files. Permissions never seem to be set right. You can get in once, then suddenly you can't access files you previously looked at. The same link no longer works. It's clunky when sharing files with people outside your organization. Box SHOULD - in theory - solve the problem of large file sharing and serving as a central repository for files that need to be shared, but it is not. If anything, Box creates more problems. Nothing Box does benefits me. Box actually adds to my workload because it's our organization-mandated software and yet everyone struggles with it, so it just creates more work to find and share files. You cannot upload large files (for example research data) without having to upload overnight and possibly having "failure to upload" in the morning. Would recommend Amazon cloud instead. Had trouble uploading folders that contained folders (the contents of the inner folder wouldn't upload), so I end up making folders and dragging files into them (less efficient than dragging the whole folder into Box). I do like that this provides an alternative to other sorts of cloud products; however, personally, I wouldn't say I like it that much. It may primarily be in part that I am a bit biased towards other cloud-based products such as google drive. I like google drive because it is directly linked to my email, so it is easier to keep things integrated into one program instead of moving between different sources. That means its existence sort of further develops other cloud programs, as there isn't a sort of monopoly, and the overall technology of cloud products can collectively grow better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Box? I really do not like this as a cloud program whatsoever. As stated before, I find it very confusing sometimes, and its relatively low usage among groups that I am in sort of makes it useless. If 99% of the world is using google drive or some other major cloud product, and the other 1% uses Box, then it's pretty obsolete. So there is a lack of inter-app exchanges. But even when I use it for the organizations that use Box, I find it rather challenging to navigate. I have tried to save to it before but have yet to have a file actually stay within that cloud. It seems to disappear as if it was saved to a hard drive instead of a cloud. But this could also be due in part to user error, and maybe I just need better training on how to use the app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Box? I have never met someone who entirely understands what Box does and how to utilize it productively. It is a weird site, the desktop apps are strange and generally, they don't have much information available that is clear and concise enough to be much help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. The two biggest problems and the benefits of Box that go along with that are the need to share documents with team members and to be able to put them in a cloud that is HIPAA compliant that is also free or inexpensive since I do health science research.
