BooksGPT is cloud bookkeeping software with an AI accountant built in. It is made for US small-business owners who still do their own books, and for the bookkeepers and firms who run a roster of those businesses. Every night the AI reads the day's bank activity, picks a category for each transaction (91.2% accuracy on our published 50,000-transaction test set, against 84.1% for a senior human bookkeeper on the same set), matches transfers and refunds so nothing is double-counted, and leaves you a short review queue. You approve the confident rows in one click and file the rest. Monthly summaries are ready by the 5th. The bookkeeper line item on a typical monthly cost is the line that goes away. Upload any document, any receipt, any invoice. Drop it on Copilot. It reads the file and proposes the journal entry. You approve to post. Ask the books a question in plain English and it answers from the live ledger with the same charts and totals the report pages use. It does not invent numbers. Live bank feeds come through Plaid (and Stripe Financial Connections where that is the better fit), covering 12,000+ US banks and cards. Connections are read-only. Most banks share 1 to 2 years of history through Plaid. Leaving QuickBooks, Xero, or Wave is a one-afternoon import: chart of accounts, customers, vendors, invoices, bills, and history, with a reconcile check against the trial balance. After that the bank feed is the source of truth. Reports are the ones a CPA already expects: profit and loss (including by class), balance sheet, cash flow, A/R and A/P aging, general ledger. Save a report, download CSV, send a year-end pack. Workspaces are separate sets of books under one login. Solo is one business. Business is three. Practice is ten client businesses at $89/mo, which is the plan built for a bookkeeper's roster: switch between clients, see who still has review work, invite the owner as a viewer. Firm is 25. Extra workspaces are add-ons, not a new subscription per company. Invoices, bills, recurring invoices, receipts (forwarded by email or dropped on Copilot or Drive), bank reconciliation, and a shared Drive with comments on the file sit in the same product. Notes live on each transaction. Threaded comments live on Drive files and on the public roadmap, not on the register row. Pricing is software plus the AI accountant, billed monthly, 7-day trial, cancel any time. Solo $29/mo, Business $39/mo, Practice $89/mo, Firm $299/mo. No per-transaction fees. Yearly is twelve months up front, not a discount. Data is always exportable. BooksGPT launched in 2025. It is not a QuickBooks add-on and it is not a chatbot bolted onto a spreadsheet. It is the books.
