## Bluehost Reviews
  ### 1. Unauthorized Billing and Support Failure on Technically Flawed Product

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pavlo P. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

We were initially attracted by the comprehensive feature set offered, which included the promise of 100% uptime, an integrated Content Delivery Network (CDN), and automatic updates. The platform’s marketing and initial interface suggested a professional, reliable, and well-equipped cloud hosting solution for integrating a portion of our existing website infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

The primary dislikes are the technical incompatibility (no support for path-based reverse-proxying) which could not be tested beforehand, the refusal to refund for the unusable service, and a major failure in support and billing controls that led to an unauthorized charge after a support agent explicitly confirmed cancellation.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bluehost’s core purpose is to provide an easy, all-in-one platform for beginners, primarily for simple WordPress sites, offering speed, uptime, and basic security.

Benefit to Us: None. The product failed at our basic business requirement (advanced routing) and we were forced to pay for an unusable service.

**Official Response from Bluehost Reputation:**

> Hello Pavlo, thank you for providing detailed feedback about your experience with Bluehost. We understand how the technical incompatibility and billing concerns affected your use of our service. To ensure a thorough review and resolution, please share your account details with our customer advocacy team at reputation@bluehost.com. We will investigate your case carefully and connect with you directly to assist further.

  ### 2. Unreliable Service with Predatory Pricing

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin G. | CEO, Food & Beverages, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

I can't stand Bluehost. They offer introductory low prices.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

I can't stand Bluehost. Their renewal pricing is outrageous after offering low introductory prices. They won't let you downgrade plans though - you have to actually start a new plan and do a site migration. Their migration team completely botched the migration, and was incredibly difficult to work with. Their customer service is terrible, with macro responses and unhelpful agents who don't know how to properly understand and address a problem. They try to sell you services you don't need like upgrades from third parties, and they won't let you refund the third-party portion even if you didn't agree to it. I strongly advise against moving your site here!

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Actually, Bluehost creates far more problems than it solves for me.

**Official Response from Bluehost Reputation:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience. We strive to be transparent about our pricing, including renewal rates, which are provided upfront before purchase.

We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. This is not typical of our service, and we’d like to understand the details and work with you to find a solution. Please send your account information to reputation@bluehost.com so we can assist you directly.

  ### 3. Horrible Service, and Support. - Avoid At Almost Almost All Costs

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel S. | Principal, Computer & Network Security, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

They have good prices, if low price is your only concern, and support, service, and product are unimportant to, go with Bluehost.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

will never use or recommend Bluehost again.

They were once a reputable provider and might still be acceptable for hobby or personal websites. But for critical business sites—especially where email deliverability matters—they are a terrible choice.

My experience with their support has been nothing short of a nightmare. Since their acquisition, their service has clearly declined, as countless other reviews also suggest.

The latest issue has been with email deliverability. Our assigned IP subnet is listed on UCEprotect Level 3, which can significantly impact inbox placement, not just delivery. Bluehost dismisses this entirely, insisting UCEprotect is disreputable and can be ignored. That’s simply not true. While UCEprotect’s practices are questionable and many providers disregard their lists, not all do—and any business that cares about reaching customer inboxes should avoid providers who refuse to take this risk seriously.

Here’s what responsible hosts do when this happens:

Acknowledge the concern, not dismiss it.

Proactively rotate affected customers to clean IP ranges that are not listed.

Maintain smaller, better-managed IP ranges to reduce collateral listing risk.

Engage with affected customers to provide temporary or permanent mitigation, such as SMTP relay alternatives or dedicated clean IPs.

Communicate transparently about the steps being taken to protect customer email deliverability.

Bluehost’s refusal to do any of this is irresponsible, damaging, and unacceptable. Reputable providers recognize that deliverability isn’t just about whether an email is sent—it’s about whether it reaches the right place: the inbox. Bluehost has failed on every front.

If your business depends on reliable email and professional support, do yourself a favor—
take your business elsewhere.

  ### 4. Outdated Server without updating core software

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Good customer support response time and their courtesy

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Outdated servers
Years without updating their core softwares
Resolution to advance technical things is very poor , specially server backend
limit your access to previous tools was available to developers

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

light technical

  ### 5. 7 months and no resolution

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lorena S. | CEO, Staffing and Recruiting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Initially, I thought they were good. But NOT ANYMORE - Downhill last 2 years.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

THE WORST CUSTOMER SUPPORT EVER! I have had an ongoing issue with them for over 7 months. Every month or two one of my emails that they host goes down. I connect it with Outlook and they keep pushing me to Microsoft to resolve the issue when clearly the error message is SMTP or IMAP which clearly indicates it's coming from BlueHosts end. And each time I call it takes 2 to 4 hours. I'm usually doing both a chat and call at the same time. I continuously ask for a supervisor. Once in a while they will provide one, however, most of the time they just end the chat or hang up the phone. Very rude. The 3 times I did get a supervisor, they said there is a KNOWN issue. But somehow they dont' communicate it with their support, so I'm left with spending hours on end on their issue. I am writing a letter to the FCC as well. This is a horrible company.

UPDATE: 9/20/24 - Now they are telling me it will be at least 3 weekdays before they will get back to me to have someone call and walk through a possible fix. Since today is Friday, My emails are going to be down 5 more days in addition to the 2 days they have already been down. I am writing to the FCC next as this is not ok. Really bad experience.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting two domains - but it's down most of the time. Hosting one email as I had to move the other to a different host because of continuous issues (similar to the ones I'm having now on the remaining email).

  ### 6. Bluehost used to be affordable and great...now, expensive and awful.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff B. | Researcher & Advisory Board Member, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

At this point, not much. I've been using them for about 5 years or so. They were great in the beginning. Easy to use. Reliable. Fantastic tech support. And, they were affordable.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Now, everything has changed. At the moment, I can't access the C-Panel or Support on Chat. This is not a one time deal. Some part of their site is non-functional pretty much all of the time. I started a new domain a few months ago, and it was the most horrendous startup I've every had. Nothing worked. Tech support knew nothing, at least the people who you contact. And, now, they've increased the cost of my hosting plan by about 6 times and with no indication why. I've had it. I don't need more stress from these idiots. Something awful has happened to the company. It's gone from 8-9 star to 1 star (if you can tolerate their b.s.).

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At this point, they are creating a continuous stream of problems and definitely aren't solving any.

  ### 7. Any other service would be better than Bluehost

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melanie F. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

This was a straightforward integration with a Wordpress site.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

I have had nothing but issues with Bluehost. Most recently, they just LOST MY ENTIRE WEBSITE. Literally, the website 403'd, and it was completely gone from my account.

I've had issues with them properly renewing certificates. And I've had someone actively try to get into my account (they successfully were able to make a user profile), and I when I asked them to blacklist the hacker's email, they refused to do so.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Bluehost to host my small business' website.

  ### 8. SUPER UNHAPPY.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evan T. | Account Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

price, marketing, ads, and proposed ease of use, I used them for another site and it works.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Super Unhappy here. They can not get a DNS populated and their 2-factor authenticator code never works. DO NOT USE BLUEHOST EVER. This is the response I get every time in chat "I understand that this has caused you inconvenience. Please be assured that our specialists are relentlessly working to resolve our customers’ issues at the earliest."

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They can not get a DNS populated and their 2 factor authenticator code never works. Two support tickets, daily chats excillated for 7 consecutive days and still having an issue. The site is not working and nor is my email. There server are not properly configured. This is the response I get every time in chat "I understand that this has caused you inconvenience. Please be assured that our specialists are relentlessly working to resolve our customers’ issues at the earliest."

  ### 9. Unable to Conduct Commerce due to Unreliability of Bluehost

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** LC W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

I do not like anything about this company.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

We have been unable to conduct commerce effectively this entire year due to inconsistencies with this service provider. The reliability of their services and poor customer support leaves much to be desired. Initially, it was authentication issues where the script would not authenticate appropriately and throw errors. After reaching out to customer support as well as the parent company regarding this matter and upon audit of our plugins, they have failed to meet their end of contractual agreement. Our plugins which were purchased through their portal are no longer visible; however, a few "new" ones, including Newfold email, are available which we did NOT consent to or desire. Now, our site is non-functioning during the busiest shopping season, our payment gateway is not configured, and our theme which also purchased is no where to be found.

We have forwarded this correspondence chain, reviews, and logs of our attempted compliance with their company to our legal teams for review on how to proceed with the loss in potential revenue, ad spending which can't be utilized by customers, and Their company's failure to "maintain up-time" as stated in verifiable articles about Bluehost.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They have NOT solved ANY of our issues; only made it worse. Our ECommerce initiative has been stalled throughout the entire year due to inconsistencies with this company.

  ### 10. Caution: BlueHost is not the service that it used to be.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael T. | Startup Advisor, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Used to be a good value and a strong Wordpress hosting service for agencies.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

BlueHost initiated what their support referred to as an "Interface Upgrade". However during this upgrade, they accidentally converted my Wordpress Pro (multi-site) account into a Basic Hosting account. This in turn prevented me from adding any additional sites to my account, so I could not do what I had paid for.

I contacted support through chat and after hours of waiting, they escalated it to the billing department. After several more days and several interactions with thei support team, it was escalated to engineering. Today, I found out that my account was suspended, so all of my sites are no longer working. And still there has been no resolution.

BlueHost used to be a high-quality, good-value service. Now it sucks and it's no longer a trustworthy brand.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Multisite Wordpress hosting.

  ### 11. Garbage, Hell, poop on a stick, black hole?

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Six days after agent cancelled
My hosting for no reason they can't restore anything yet alone an email address. They say they will
Call me everyday with an update and nothing, even supervisors said that and still no calls at all.they sent one god damn email to me in six days where I've spent over $35 in long distance fees calling their help center trying to get an answer but I just get snowballed we can't help you that's the billing department, and oh they don't have a contact number so they will call you. NO ON HAS CALLED IN SIX DAYS, you cancelled a website and emails for a company and don't give a shit to fix it and restore it in six days still nothing?!?!?!??!? Do you even know how to turn on a computer over there Bluehost?

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Everything!! Terrible customer service, they don't listen to you they don't care they only can answer your questions if you can't find where to login. Other then that useless they just say I'll add that to your ticket goodbye.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None, six days they haven't even fixed my email address that they cancelled. It's benefiting me by not getting paid and by having customers attending legal meetings to get their money back from a company that doesn't have a website or email.

  ### 12. Ridiculous technical support

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikola L. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Nothning. I fell for the recomendadtion they have on WooCommerce website as trusted hosting. I think they have a good paying marketing and that's about it. Been their client for 3 years.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

The only "Malware Free" hosting that automatically updates files with malware, and where customers have to do the job of technical support, as they are not allowed to touch the files.
Their business model was to sell adons from other companies. But this year they switched to create the demand for adons by allowing malware and security issues to account who don't buy adons. Their technical support's offical policy is that they are now allowed to touch the files. They are really pushing for SiteLock products

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nothing different than other webhostings. Go Daddy's partner program

  ### 13. No Customer Service Phone Number

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John S. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Price is good and you can have multiple wesites listed.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

No one is there at customer service to talk to you or help you get through a problem, good luck on a solution.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The did not because there is no one to talk to for my problem.

  ### 14. Lots of downtime, rough customer service, decent interface and price

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Recreational Facilities and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

The interface is decent and the price is reasonable.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

The amount of downtime is unacceptable. I've been using them for 3 weeks. My website was down for at least 12 hours and their tools have been down for at least 14. Customer service says the're fixing things. They always give a timeline like 4-6 hours, but the fixes aren't performed.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to host a website

  ### 15. Your start paying a 2,5$ month plan and get renewed to 19$ without the option to cancel

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriela R. | Creator Content and Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

I don't like anything about Bluehost. I was automatically renewed to a plan of 19$ a month instead of 2,5 which was what I paid for 1 year.

The client service is the worst I've seen. The people you talk to to solve your problem are not interested in helping at all, and they have a bad attitude.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Everything. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I only got it because some influencer had a coupon to start paying 2,5 instead of 5 the monthly plan.
I was stupid to assume it was a honest recommendation.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed to build a website so I got bluehost.

  ### 16. Sales-oriented, unsupportive, with an abundance of "fake offers"

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colette A. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

I joined Bluehost many years ago when I didn't know any better. Their hosting service did what was expected. It hosted my site. That's it. There is nothing remarkable or outstanding about this company.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Terrible customer service. Abysmal support. Long circular bot processes before speaking to a person, followed by long waits. Problems were sometimes resolved, sometimes not. Very often, some clauses in the contract required an "upgrade' to access the support needed (I learned later that other hosting services offer many of these upgrades as standard). Year-on-year, the prices increased, and the service got worse.

Upon trying to leave and take my services elsewhere, I was offered a significant discount (that had clearly been available all along). Not cool. The process of leaving Bluehost was painful.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It hosted my site.

  ### 17. Bluehost is charging people for hosting even though they do not have sites/domains with them.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordan G. | Start-up Accelerator Member, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Nothing, they were the only provider at the time when I used Wordpress. My developer did not provide me a choice at the moment of deciding. So, unfortunately, I did not really choose them.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

I cancelled them 2 years ago, for terrible service. Today they charged me $800 out of nowhere and will not respond to messages or provide a refund. When I reached chat, I asked them what I am being charged for and they said it was for hosting services. When I ask them if I have anything hosted with them, they say no. Shady business practices as always.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At the time, they were not necessarily solving any problem for me. They made it very difficult to transfer over my domain to Google. I would not use them again.

  ### 18. Scam company that steal from you

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Absolutely nothing, their proprietary cpanel admin is ugly, slow and confusing. And that is their best feature.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

They steal from you. I signed up for a $30 pm VPS, after a few months, they started charging me $60 pm without notice. When I contacted them, they said they upgraded their servers and felt the new price was still good. Yet the price they advertise on their site is still $30. They refused to refund, and basically told me to go jump.

How can a company just start debiting double the amount out of your account? Bluehost do, absolute bald-faced theft. This is a gangster company that will outright rob you.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They solve nothing. All they do is cause headaches by literally stealing money straight out of their customers bank accounts.

  ### 19. They triple the charge every year, and then don't let you cancel your subscription.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Keren B. | Growth Consulting: Automation & Bizops, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Nothing. quick setup but it's a scam to get more money while providing terrible service

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Customer service is terrible, no way to edit existing charges - only buy more

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website hosting (not good though)

  ### 20. Nothing but problems

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

The pricing was cheap and the service was somehow recommended by Google Domains, but the actual product was super busy.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

I tried using Bluehost for their managed Wordpress service. I was able to create an account and put in my credit card information, but when I went to the dashboard, I just got an error message telling me to contact support. I did that, and they were able to get the dashboard working. I thought the problem was fixed but then I tried to launch a wordpress instance from within the Bluehost dashboard and I got the same error message.

At this point, I decided to use a different service and wanted to cancel my account. However, there was no option to do this within my dashboard. Once again, I had to contact support. I'm pretty sure the support rep was a bot, because I had to repeat everything multiple times. They asked why I wanted to cancel, and I told them the dashboard was buggy. They suggested that it was my browser (Chrome) and asked me to download a VPS browser, whatever that is.

Once they finally said they would cancel my account, they said they would need my password. I wasn't comfortable doing this, and they submitted a password reset instead. That email never came through so I had to send my original password. This was after they authenticated me using an email token, so they really should've had no reason to need my password and the whole experience seemed very insecure and sketchy.

I was prompted to leave feedback after the live chat support session. However, the submit button didn't work. haha of course not.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Find another service. This doesn't seem like a legitimate company.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wordpress managed hosting

  ### 21. Ongoing email problems, support line is not taking my call (first time calling tech support)

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

What do you expect from a webhost? I think the consensus is this:
You expect
1: Websites and email to work properly at least 99.9 percent of the time- until now the sites at least have worked for the most part.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

2 and 3: Communication when things are not working correctly, and fix them when they don't.
Now. Who knows how long this email problem has been ongoing, but when you call tech support it does announce the issue and say they are working on it.
Then they send your call to a black hole, where you wait 45 minutes and it hangs up on you.
Unacceptable, completely!
The site speeds have also been

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This webhost has not solved my problems.

  ### 22. You are on your own

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Armaan G. | Account Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Its a hosting just like any other company

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Our ecommerce website was down for 3 days and their support was unable to expedite the issue. It cost us business big time as it was peak time for RV trailer sales.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Better to go with Kinsta, Flywheel or Wpengine

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not with bluehost anymore. Switched to Kinsta

  ### 23. Dreadful accounting and customer service ...

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jane S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Their hosting service is easy to use and links seamlessly with Wordpress.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Their accounts and customer service is dire. The accounts duplicate bill and debit and then customer service state that they have no records of the duplicate transactions. After this happening repeatedly for three months, I cancelled the duplicate charge through my bank and Bluehost suspended my web sites, saying I had initiated a chargeback without consulting them. I lost hours of my time trying to sort this out. Customer service will keep you on the Chat going round in circles without a resolution.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None.

  ### 24. Easy to join but impossible to leave

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

I power was very cheap in terms of web hosting and domain registration

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Their billing system and renewal system is deliberately complex, for example if you cancel a domain they will still charge you for years for the main privacy even though you don't have a domain any longer etc.… They sell products as a bundle but you have to cancel each one for each account individually and keep detailed records

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Consider alternatives with a better support track record

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I originally engage them for virtual websites and service as well as domain registration

  ### 25. Unable to make changes to my site for a month!

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brett S. | Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

When I started with Bluehost, it seemed like a good hosting service. I wasn't comfortable with using WordPress, but they had their own templatized, drag-and-drop tool (Bluehost Editor). I was able to get my site up and was initially pleased with how it looked. Then, one day I went to make a change to the page and the Bluehost Editor would just hang and not open the tool...see next item for what happened next.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

One month later and I still cannot get into the tool. I have had multiple interactions with their tech support and every time get the exact same response: "we're working on it and will get back to you when it's fixed". Attempts to get in touch with someone who actually knows something have gone nowhere. Tech support also seems to be completely unknowledgeable about this tool...they say "just use WordPress to make page edits", even though that's not possible since the pages were created with the Bluehost Editor templates...WordPress makes me try to get back into that tool which then fails. Someone in tech support even told me to just re-build my site from scratch and then closed my case as being resolved by that proposal! Terrible support for their own tool.

I also tried getting an answer through their Twitter support handle (which they claim to actively monitor) and got no response.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I secured my domain and was able to get my site created, but that doesn't mean much when I can't make any changes.

  ### 26. Auto Charged By Unauthroizing them into my account and turning on Auto Payment.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hitesh S. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

CPanel and hosting options - its actually very easy on Bluehost.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Payments were set to expire but to my shock, they were changed without my consent to automatic and automatically deducted with a markup of 100%. When I raised this with customer service they responded with we auto changed this for you and will not be able to refund or do anything about violating my rights. Appaling customer service where it took over 50 prompts to get them to write up a formal complaint which I still have not received any email communication, to say the least.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Billing is a massive issue. Payments without authorization is the second and also acknowledgement with any communication from their end is non-existant.

  ### 27. Worst support and breaks site each time they touch it

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert W. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

I can only say the price. Nothing else is likeable.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Their support is the worst in the industry

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Do not consider Bluehost. While interface is simple, the lack of competent support engineers makes any convenience not worth it.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We just need a stable host with good support

  ### 28. Don't Do This To Yourself.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dave H. | Doer of Things, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

The most basic tier of bluehost is okay, because you can host unlimited sites if you can tolerate 6-7 load times.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Everything else about bluehost is really terrible.
Customer support is frustrating and being passed around for hour after hour.
Their WP Pro package was a $400 mistake, now I'm hosted with SiteGround which actually works.
They got me to hang on until the month guarantee expired, and then never fixed my problems:
Backups don't work. Period. There is no value to the backup package that comes with Pro.
Cloudfront could not be configured with SSL; in fact Cloudfront could not be configured at all.
Whenever there is any change to make at all, they blame *everything* on a 72-hour DNS change when every mature web hosting company in the world can tell you how to stage your DNS change with minimal outage. They just don't *want* to. I finally got *one* rep (out of literally 20) to change a DNS TTL for me to 1 hour (instead of the default 6 hours), so I *know* they can do it.
Then, to top it all, whenever your site is unavailable due to DNS, there is a Bluehost error message displayed that makes you look like you didn't pay your Bluehost bill.
This service is not something you would ever provide to a customer; you will look terrible and you'll *still* end up paying for some other service.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For a while, it looked like Bluehost could be used to host a low-latency Wordpress installation. But that turned out not to be true. I have wasted hundreds and hundreds of hours with this terrible, terrible company.

  ### 29. Never park your domains at Bluehost!

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Guess their uptime? Even not sure about that.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

How Bluehost is squeezing you everywhere they can. They are raising prices on parked domains all the time.
I have a bunch of parked domains that I don't want to renew and they don't have an easy way to mark them to not renew. They deliberately made it so you have to go into every single one of them and switch. Not surprisingly to early renew it is only a drop-down menu item. :-(

When you go back from that domain, you end up on top of the list again and scrolling is so slow, that I am using this time to write this review. Really frustrating.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting my company/personal business URL there.

  ### 30. Terrible Support and Slow Website

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Veterinary | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

At this point, not much. We are transferring our domains away from BlueHost to a provider that has great customer support.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

The customer support is awful. During a recent outage, I was told by two reps that my issue was being taken care of and my site would be rebuilt within 1-2 hours. A few hours later, my site was still down so when I called a 3rd time it was only then was I told they couldn't fix my site because the files were deleted. They only sent one warning email that they would delete my site within 30 days, which was sent amongst a bunch of other renewal notices. For something as important as a website, you would hope they would send multiple warnings before deletion.

Because of the hosting lapse and the files being deleted, I was going to need to rebuild the site from my WordPress backup (which was well beyond my technical understanding.) Instead of being helped, I was continuously sent a link to a tutorial instead of being walked through it by the rep. I asked at least 5 times if there was someone that could download the files from the link I provided since it was beyond my abilities, even after reviewing the tutorial, and was ignored and sent a link to another tutorial.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Find someone with better customer service and support.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not. It's caused me problems, including deleting my entire website with only one notification email, which was missed by an employee.

**Official Response from Machielle Thomas:**

> Hello,

I am extremely sorry to hear about this frustrating experience that you have had with our services. I would love to escalate your concerns further and see what occurred here and how we can improve our processes in the future. Could you please send us an email at socialsupport@bluehost.com with your domain on the account and reference this review?

Thank you!
Julie

  ### 31. Terrible experience with their shared hosting

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

I had almost two years of not having issues with Bluehost. Its kind of a bare bones service. Its cheap, thats for sure.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

They forced an upgrade on my site without letting me know, which caused my website to go down. They never admitted to this, until after maybe 10 chats with their overseas customer support. I ended up having to spend $ to move to Dreamhost. All told, I probably spent 12 hours with their customer service. It was impossible to speak to managers or to escalate issues. If you want the feeling of being powerless with an issue, their shared service is for you.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Pay for a service where you have better access to customer support. Their support wasn't an issue with me until we had to use them. Once we had to use them, that was when we were burned.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed an affordable service while I was starting a company.

  ### 32. The most incompetent Web Hosting provider available

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Wholesale | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

The only plus to this company is it has the highest uptime available. That alone is not enough for really anyone except server-based companies.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Terrible communication - their domains team is "email only" but they don't know how to reply to emails, send updates, or solve simple issues in general.

Call companies - They use random customer service companies that don't know how to solve any issues and are basically there only to tell the customers something is happening, even though nothing is.

Faulty backend - Their backend is so full of bugs you would think a high schooler designed it for a project during his lunches.

Absolutely abysmal customer service - They are so overwhelmed because of so many issues that you will be 1 of 1000 people constantly in the queue looking for help. Good luck getting any specialized support on that except for a guy on the phone to tell you that there's too many people to help.

I waited 5 days for an update on the hosting transfer, then after 1244 redirects to different departments, they told me to initiate the transfer. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE ALREADY.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Run.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bluehost cannot solve a single problem that other companies aren't already solving. They have uptime over the competition but I don't even believe that anymore.

  ### 33. Not a fan

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashlie P. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

The hosting uses cpanel and is fairly easy to set up.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

The lack of customer service, the lack of motivation to solve problems (a CS rep accidentally canceled the wrong service and it ended up in my email and site going down and wasted advertising dollars as it was during a launch and heavy ad time) My experience with them is HANDS DOWN the worst experience I've had working with any company in the past decade.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Even if their service performs well most of the time, it only takes one instance to cost you hundreds or thousands in lost revenue if you run a web-based business. Look elsewhere.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None, they were great when I needed a basic website and non-reliable service and email, but once it became something I used and relied on, they cost more than they were worth.

  ### 34. Bluehost Review - Negative

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

There was not much about Bluehost that I liked.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Their customer service was lacking and extremely slow.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to utilize Bluehost as my website host, until I switched over to Siteground

  ### 35. Shaky tech with terrible service

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

There isn't much to like... outdated website, pricing at rates like other providers, and unstable tech... I'm trying to think of one nice thing, but there's not much to say. Even if not helpful, the tech people are at least nice.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

The service keeps crashing, when you call you get upsold on new services, the tech support can't help you if you do have an issue. In our case, our site kept crashing for 45 days because of issues from their side and it took countless hours on tech support to solve it.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Use any other provider that isn't bluehost.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to host our Wordpress blog. No business benefit realized as their service keeps crashing.

  ### 36. Several Outages, Poor Customer Support

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt B. | Marketing Administrator, Transportation/Trucking/Railroad, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

The price is cheap, and we're able to manage our site without too much difficulty.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

We've experienced numerous multi-day outages with Bluehost. We've also had many difficulties with their customer support in terms of solving any issue we might have.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

If you're a small business with limited funds and a simple website, Bluehost might work well for you. With any additional complexities, your probably going to be better off with a larger, more reliable hosting service with better support.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Needed a cost effective place to host our business website, and they met those requirements. However, we were unprepared for the downtime we have experienced, and the difficulties with support. Both have cost our business thousands.

  ### 37. Declining WordPress hosting

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Todd P. | CTO and Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2016

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Not much. Once considered a good option for WordPress hosting, this is now a host to avoid.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Their low-price hosting options should be avoided. Their multi-tenant hosting options are VERY SLOW and poorly supported. My recommendation is to go with another host entirely.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Go with another host for WordPress hosting. If you really want excellent performance and support, my recommendation is to go with Synthesis. It's worth the money you'll spend.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WordPress hosting is the reason I recommended BlueHost to a client a couple years ago.

  ### 38. Mediocre shared hosting, you get what you pay for

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael S. | Web Application Developer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

Pricing and Wordpres support were what got me to consider and sign up for Bluehost.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Once a customer, I had numerous downtime issues and was plagued with slow server response times.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

While the pricing is definitely right, I can't stress enough that you get what you pay for. If you have problems with your hosting (and you will), don't expect stellar customer support.

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Was looking for reasonably priced shared hosting for development and staging sites for my clients.

  ### 39. Why Bother?

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas G. | Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2016

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

They have good deals and good customer service which is helpful if you need a lot of 1:1 time with them.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

Basically the same deal as HostGator. Why would I use BlueHost when there are so many other options that are cheaper, faster, and more flexible.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Bluehost is getting better. Getting away from shared hosting and into VPS is the way to go.

  ### 40. Bad Hosting

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Building Materials | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

None, its a very bad hosting service.... do not get it.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

everything, poor customer service, slow server, easily hacked servers.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

dont do it

**What problems is Bluehost solving and how is that benefiting you?**

marketing our company website

  ### 41. Not deserving of the glowing reviews across the web

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2016

**What do you like best about Bluehost?**

I tried Bluehost because of all the great reviews online, but I should have realized the referral program they have running makes it almost impossible to find an unbiased review. I like that it's inexpensive, that's about it.

**What do you dislike about Bluehost?**

I had a tough time getting set up, found the customer service lacking and slow, and was disappointed with the clunky interface.

**Recommendations to others considering Bluehost:**

Review other options. If all you need is a simple site/blog/whatever, I suggest looking elsewhere.
