What do you like best?

Community. It is something outside the tool itself but that adds incredible value to the final product. Because how great the community is, it's really easy to find someone who will tell you exactly how you need to use the tool to create something specific, 3D modeling, animation, poly-art, unity compability, whatever you can imagine, it's out there. Having said that, the tool has quite a few utilities to improve productivity. The tools available for the manipulation of vertices and edges are infinite, and to that we add the possibility of adding addons that bring new ways of doing it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I think the best it has is also its biggest challenge, given the amount of utilities available to it, it becomes difficult for a newbie to start creating things with Blender, and achieve the results that they expect in a short development time. It is simply impossible. You have to spend time with the tool learning the shortcuts (which are infinite) and spend time watching community tutorials to get used to which utilities to use for which problems. I do not see a clear way to solve this, it is a tool that covers an immense spectrum of solutions within 3d modeling and animation, it is not that you are using a small tool that only concerns you to make voxel art, you are using an all-round high powered swiss knife, so expect to be overwhelmed with tools that you may never use as they are not the type of solution you need Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Don't try to learn for yourself just by trying things. Go to the community stuff, it's one of the best things about Blender. You can learn in a week how to use specific tools to increase your workflow productivity, and end up with higher quality art. There are hundreds of very good YouTube that are dedicated to making step-by-step guides on how to arrive at a high quality final product. Some give very good explorations, some do speedruns for when you are more advanced and do not need explanations. But everyone will always have a small detail that is extremely useful, shurcuts, they all show which shortcuts they are using for each action they do. This is incredibly useful, in Blender you use countless different tools all the time, it would be an extremely slow process to go with the mouse to use each of them, so getting familiar with the use of shorctus is a must. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am an enthusiast of the world of game development. I am a graduate Software Engineer and full time worker so programming is not a problem. Art on the other hand ... I couldn't draw a perfect circle even if my life depended on it. This is when Blender comes in, I'm not good at drawing, but I'm good at researching and following tutorials, and as I mentioned, the community and material behind blender is pretty huge. Even for me, someone with 0 knowledge of art, it is possible to model a tree, a box, or a well, small assets to make a small game. And I can do it because I can go to youtube or google and find 'how to model a tree with blender', with a Blender specific version and the specific art (voxel, polyart, realistic). This is priceless, and for a tool that is free, even more so. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Ease of navigation , Customization Features, Faster rendering, Live rendering, Camera based view to make you feel how will the animation look like, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Image based Animation becomes difficult to perform, For me personally i tried to get an image hand created and perform animation but it kept getting difficult to animate the image. Blender can provide some sample projects along with where in user can use that project modify the same to get better understanding and clarity so that going forward it can be a learning as well as hands on experience to attract. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Great tool to start learning Animation and grow further more in same tool. Can be very handy in many ways but only consideration which i feel is its bit difficult to do animation based upon the images. For example its bit tricky to just create a character and perform animation on that. Better to view some tutorials online before trying your hand on the tool considering it helps in understanding the navigation, how to start, what to use etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

What do you like best?

Free and open source to start with and a delight to work with. I was a Maya and 3DMax user for many years and they were a lot better than Blender, but since 2017 that started to change big time, right now Blender is faster, more extensible, and more complete than any other option. Many big studios are still stuck with Maya but most of the Animators I know would prefer to switch to Blender. Our team made the switch since 2019 and we don't plan to go back anytime soon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

A few years ago I would say that was too immature to be a commercial-grade project, but wow that really changed. Now it's more complete and easier to learn and use than the commercial and expensive alternatives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

See if a script is created for what you plan to do, you may save hours of work if it already exists and you can just focus in the details. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

What I like the most about blender is that it is a tool with many options, which other expensive tools have, for example 3dmax, here you can do almost the same thing, modeling, sculpting, animating in a single program with multiple tutorials on the internet Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

What annoys me that some commands are difficult to understand and even more so when they are complex things and require, step by step, a continuous execution of buttons.

I also do not like file incompatibilities between other programs having to resort to generic objects to be able to migrate from one program to another Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I recommend enrolling in blender courses and challenges, these help to improve in this tools, additionally there is a lot of blender documentation in videos that can be useful, also update to the latest versions of the product since it is constantly improving Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

A basic logo is required for a 3d program, although I am not an expert I created a basic logic that served to integrate it and show a nice presentation in the product Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Blender is one of the most effective 3D softwares available out there. Obviously, the best thing I like about Blender is that is free. Also, there is a quite large community of users where you can tap in to get tutorials and useful help to advance your skills. Blender is a powerful 3D software that is very competitive to others 3D softwares out there that cost thousands of USD.It is a solid choice to create beautifully rendered images, Animations, VFX and more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The biggest drawback about Blender is the User Interface, especially if you are accustomed to other softwares. There are some shortcuts that will make transitions more smooth. Still, after using another 3D software for years (an industry standard) I still find Blender a bit cumbersome to work around things that are more smoothly accomplished with other tools. Another minus for Blender is that there are only a few studios that use it, and that's mainly to save money. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Free and a lot of tutorials for a beginner Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Blender has a significant amount of hidden tools that in other softwares would require external plugins and at a considerable cost. Among my favorites, I would first list the Simulation Tools. They are definitely a plus, especially compared to Autodesk products where their cost runs in the thousands of $.

Also, I appreciate the capability of Blender to tackle many different tasks, it even has a built in video editor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Free, versatile binding 3d software together with an open architecture. Great results, can be a tool for just 1 job or a complete game /movie. Besides that switching from a very expensive autodeskmonthly subscription solution to a free product.

Besides the first off shaving expenses it also gives a lot of freedom not being under the swinging autodesk moods. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Modelling is so easy.

Render engine has so much improvements now that you can make things look so real.

2.8 version is well optimised for speeds and heavy loads.

With the new Gizmo, you can even use it on touch screen devices like tabs. Wow.

It is so easy to use and also there are so many helpfile and videos on Youtube that its exhausting yet awesome. The output can be done in realtime now and we can see the changes or final output with out rendering most of the times. Now you can make 2D movies on blender and it is very well thought software which is easy to adapt to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I feel the downside is that they are very helpful and have made it very easy to use it. With very less efforts and not having to go through the painful process. they actually stole that pain and gave us this amazing product to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

GO for it. you wont regret it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is an all in one tool for people who like to draw, build models and create animation and do video editing. I am able to do scenes and animations for my songs in blender and some graphic art.

I ahve realised that I can do more with it now. I can do an entire story animation in Blender which I am intending to do in future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Blender is leading the vanguard of innovative traditional animation production! This goes for both the developers and the community. Hats off everyone -- what a great creative technology for hand drawn animation, storyboarding, and previz!

Blender allows you to do traditional 2D hand drawn animation or storyboards over 3D props and assets. This is a very unique feature, and it's only getting more robust and fun. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

As trivial as it may sound, the default hotkeys seem odd to me (for navigation and basic modeling). I also use Modo, Rhino, and a bit of C4D, and Blender's default hotkeys seem strange, but that's just my bias clearly, which I am working on (or just remapping them) :D Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Blender is really the only tool that allows me to draw by hand over 3D assets all on an animation timeline.

The 3D modeling software Modo has recently added a 2.5D animation tool as well, and it uses raster-brushes, which is also unique compared to Blender's vector-brushes. But as of now Blender is still the best 2.5D animation solution if that's what you're looking for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Blender is a free yet powerful 3D creation tool. Beyond modeling and texturing, it also integrates texture painting, sculpting, and post-processing rendering. The improved Eevee render engine provides beautiful yet convenient real-time rendering results. The Grease Pencil is the killer for 2D-style 3D animation creation. It keeps lightweight even is such giant multi-functional inside. Blender 2.8.x is a huge step forward for its impressive significant UI update. I can feel the ambition for them as a foundation but willing to take other commercial giants down. Unlike other tools in similar usages, it shows the dimension of meshes in human-readable units, i.e., cm, inch. That's important in creating content for AR/VR/MR since the item will present in real-world size scene. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The coordinate system in Blender aligns the z-axis to upward and is different from majority 3D creation tools and game engines, where they align The y-axis to upward. Although Blender gives some features to fix the coordination in its exporting menu, it causes problems in some scenarios. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are small studio or individual developer/creator, try Blender. It’s free but still powerful, probably the best free software in graphic creating field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am working on several AR and VR projects. It's painful to deal with the unit conversion in Maya. In Blender, though, I can check the info panel for the real size of the model. It's super straightforward and no more guess or preference tuning. It supports native gltf and usd file conversion, yet another AR-oriented feature.

Blender integrates texture painting and sculpting in itself. It means you don't need to switch tools among Maya, Substance Painter and ZBrush during the creating process. That makes the whole creating process much more fluent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

At first glance it doesn't seem like Blender 3D is anything special in the world of 3D applications, but it's not.

Blender 3D amazing serious and complex 3D creations suite.

What can be done in 3D Blender and what are its outstanding and versatile capabilities.

There are no boundaries, everything is a universe inside it and you can do just anything, simply no limit in creations.

Blender 3D is one of the best modeling and advanced sculpting tools.

Everything you need with animation, rigging and simulation.

Probably best compositing and motion tracking, also video editing and 2D.

Finally Blender is a public project, free to use for any purpose forever and open source.

With Blender human ingenuity and heaven alone is the limit, if it has. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Is too artistic and design maybe placed with a specially processed plug-in to obtain the dimension and the engineering such CAD applications have.

It's quite unusual and difficult to master and embrace the way it works, so because of its complexity, it takes a long time to get used to and embrace working in it. The latest versions go to improve all this so that the intuitive and logical interface is getting better and better Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Blender is in the range of Maya (as professional 3D software)

Difference is that is it easier to use, and it comes at 0 cost!

The people creating Blender are updating it all the time, and the new version is just amazing!

It is a public project (everyone can join and help), but you can still donate if you'd like to help the people who made it

You can create pretty much everything on Blender! Just watch youtube videos, or an online course, and you are set Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Don't hesitate do download and enjoy! Blender is really great to use!

Plus it is free, unlike many other 3D software's of this range.
