"Blackboard as an LMS"
5/5
What do you like best about Blackboard?

Blackboard stands out for its robustness and versatility as a learning management system (LMS). I especially like its ability to integrate academic tools, assessments, analytics, and communication into a single ecosystem, which facilitates large-scale course management. Additionally, its flexibility to adapt to different educational models, multilingual support, and accessibility options make it a solid solution for institutions with diverse and complex needs. What do you dislike about Blackboard?

Its interface can feel outdated and unintuitive compared to more modern platforms, which sometimes makes the learning curve unnecessarily long. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I see Blackboard as a great work partner"
5/5
What do you like best about Blackboard?

I've been following the development of Blackboard for almost eight years. The constant effort to make changes and improvements always surprises. Two other aspects that deserve to be highlighted are the stability of the system and, especially, the UX team, always willing to help. In addition, events, seminars, and support materials always help to improve the experience of teachers and students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackboard?

The mobile app has improved a lot in recent times, but it still needs improvement, especially regarding speed. Many students who rely on the app to attend online classes also complain about the lack of consistency regarding the desktop experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very engaging community for support"
4/5
What do you like best about Blackboard?

I have been a few different titles over the years. Now I am the LMS admin for our university. Since being admin, I realize how good Anthology does with engaging users. There are weekly office hours calls that include Anthology support answering questions. User feedback is always taken in consideration. Other companies could learn from how well Anthology communicates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackboard?

There is not much I dislike about the product. I have been around from self hosted and now SAAS. I have used original courses and now we are full ultra. People dislike change in general, but it is nice to see this product moving forward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Blackboard?

I liked the robustness and reporting capable in Blackboard. As a support specialist, it was relatively easy for me to work with the administration tools to help staff and students Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackboard?

As Ultra has been phasing in, support has been dwindling with strange glitches and long wait times in Behind the Blackboard. The support documentations are not as robust as expected and do not detail the differences in organizations and courses. They needed to be more detailed, but it looks as though everything is moving to new help site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Blackboard as an Instructional Management Tool"
5/5
What do you like best about Blackboard?

Blackboard continues to be a robust and reliable instructional management system, offering a wide range of features that support both in-person and online learning environments. One of its standout capabilities is the platform’s seamless support for multimedia content, which enhances the teaching and learning experience for both students and instructors.

A particularly valuable feature is the ability for students to submit video assignments directly within the platform. This is especially beneficial in courses where verbal communication, presentation skills, or demonstrations are essential components of the learning outcomes. Students can easily upload recorded videos or use integrated tools like Kaltura to record and submit their work, allowing for more dynamic and expressive assignments.

Equally impressive is Blackboard’s support for instructors to provide video and audio feedback on student submissions. This capability brings a personal, human touch to online feedback, fostering stronger instructor-student connections. Instead of relying solely on text comments, instructors can clarify complex points, offer encouragement, and convey tone more effectively through multimedia responses.

The discussion boards in Blackboard are another area of strength. They are well-organized, easy to navigate, and support threaded conversations that promote meaningful peer-to-peer and student-to-instructor interaction. Instructors can moderate discussions, embed media, and structure forums in a way that aligns with course objectives and encourages active engagement.

Overall, Blackboard offers a comprehensive, user-friendly suite of tools that support innovative and interactive instruction. Its support for video assignment submission, multimedia feedback, and robust discussion boards makes it a highly effective platform for both traditional and modern teaching approaches. "Blackboard is a leading provider in teaching and learning, offering excellent support."
5/5
What do you like best about Blackboard?

Our institution is making an exciting transition from Blackboard Original to Blackboard Ultra course view. The Ultra platform boasts a range of innovative features that our students are discovering to be much more user-friendly than the Original version. Remarkably, the support we receive from our dedicated engineering team is exceptional. They consistently address any issues I raise within 24 hours, and in the rare event of a system outage—something that has happened only once in five years—they mobilize immediately to resolve it. This level of responsiveness and commitment significantly enhances our learning environment, making it easier for faculty and students to thrive. The pricing dropped dramatically when Anthology purchased Blackboard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackboard?

It is hard to come up with a downside to Blackboard. I must say slow down on the new features until we can catch up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A User friendly Online learning platform that is reliable and always works on improvement"
5/5
What do you like best about Blackboard?

I have been using and managing Blackboard for my institution course for years and it is a game-changer after we switched to Blackboard Ultra. The platform is intrusive and make it easier to navigate and access courses for both students and faculty. It is integrated with many other content publishers, applications and systems. The mobile app is a really a plus, letting user stay on top of their work o the go. Great learning and teaching experience.

Support team is fantastic, always help promptly and solve the problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackboard?

transparency. I get to participate in Focus Groups, Community Insiders, and much more. I LOVE that Anthology Production wants its clients to participate. I am a professor, so this is a big deal. Our voices are heard. We get to help build the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Happy with Blackboard and never looked back!"
5/5
What do you like best about Blackboard?

The best thing about Blackboard is that they based their updates from customer feedback. There are places to express your voice and from there they implement changes to their product based on new new ideas, concerns, or changes for improvement. With the new AI initiatives they have, Blackboard has become a leader in the learning and development sector. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackboard?

While major components work extremely well, some minor items could be improved, including: setting up the gradebook to have extra credit, slowness experienced with test that have large question sets, and not being able to use a Word file to import a rubric or test.
