Sometimes, updates will be pushed through that completely mess something up. Also, certain parts of it are needlessly complicated, especially when trying to update old systems to the new ones. A good example of that is the back end for grading - grade plans, grade plan grades, grade plan groups, grade translations, etc. It's very unintuitive, and makes it difficult for us to update things like transcripts. I appreciate the ability to have a lot of different information in one place. Grades, activities, contacts, the ability to send out communication. The transcript setup is very outdated and while we have asked dozens of times for a few, very common upgrades, we have been told the system is "unable to accommodate" such a request. We see transcripts from other schools daily, and the vast majority include these efficiencies - but these schools use platforms other than BB.

One other concern I have is that often when using customer support we are told very different things based on who we speak with. One tech might say "that is not possible" and another might say "I can definitley help you with that." It can be discouraging to be told "no" only to speak with someone from another BB school who says "oh yeah, they helped me set that up." There is a wide assortment of options and functions it offers to the users of all sorts whether it's a teacher or student. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It feels like there are often changes made (that aren't necessarily helpful on the user end) that lead to bugs that don't get fixed in a timely manner and Blackbaud support is only helpful so often. Often times, basic functions tend to abruptly stop working; items aren't displayed properly, files aren't able to get uploaded successfully. Ease of use varies frequently. Support also feels like a very hit or miss piece. It's frustrating that only some people can access support directly, not entirely sure if that's set by my place of work or by Blackbaud. It is very helpful to have all student documents (testing, assessments, outside testing, etc.) all stored within the student's profile. As a school for students with learning differences, we refer to these documents frequently and teachers have quick access to them without having to switch to Google Docs. While the LMS is very user-friendly, we have families who struggle with access. As a small school without an IT department, it takes a lot of time for our faculty /staff to assist families throughout the day.
