Invoices and support for journal entries can be easily attached in the web view for easy referencing during our year end audit. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?** The database version, like other accounting software, is not at all intuitive. The web view does not have full functionality (for example must cut checks through database view), so you cannot exclusively use the web view. The software also does not produce a report that can be directly imported into our AP provider AvidXchange, even though they are partners. During year-end audits, we're also not able to pull an audit trail from the system for invoice approvals, which has caused control deficiencies in the audit. **What problems is Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT solving and how is that benefiting you?** Blackbaud allows our entire team to easily enter journal entries and invoices from anywhere, and with the ability to attach invoices and journal entry support directly into the system which allows for easy review. I like that my data entry input gets faster and faster "reflex" with copy features, 'save and add' buttons, and being able to generate and customize reports without needing access to the FE database. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?** FENXT has undergone a number of unannounced updates over the year we've been using the product, with some updates causing weird glitches in data entry. Very user friendly. Customer service support has also been unmatched - we requested a custom demo and had all of our questions answered. We also have been able to reach a representative for support very quickly through their website chat. It made our implementation run smoothly. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?** Quite pricey compared to our previous accounting software and still we did have to do quite a bit of customization before we were up and running. Some reports when exported to Excel still requires manipulation and re-formatting when the fields are not properly labeled. If our organization was smaller, this would be much more robust than necessary - I used QuickBooks Desktop most often in the nonprofit world and it worked great with Qbox integration (if you need online syncing). **What problems is Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT solving and how is that benefiting you?** We improved our reporting capability. Filter features are great and come in handy when running a report. You don't have to create multiple reports. Instead, you could create one report and filter the transaction codes you wish to see. It times out when things take too long, it glitches a lot, and it's not user-friendly to those outside the Finance department. No need to look through paper files. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?** takes longer to run than on FE database. The screens for reports and journal entries are full of options and takes time to scroll through them every time - would like to be able to keep my options from one month to the other. In FE Database the journal entries were more like Excel in that you could use short cut keys. Must use your mouse to click back in NXT so I am moving from my keyboard to using mouse more. When keying in journal entries it doesn't recognize accounts that I use every month, plus having to key in the dash between segments. Yes, there is an auto fill but it takes several clicks to get it to recognize the account. **Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT:** If you are using the database version and not having server issues or any other issues with Financial Edge wait a while to go to NXT. Yes, it is the future for Blackbaud but the improvements will be worth it. **What problems is Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT solving and how is that benefiting you?** If I needed to work from home I would think that would be a nice benefit as it is cloud based. ### 38. Also I would like to be able to post checks in our bank reconciliations as they clear the bank instead of having to wait until month end. **Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT:** We use PaperSave in conjunction with Financial Edge, and use Blackbaud's hosted environment, make sure you have a fast internet connection. Using PaperSave, saves time and money as we no longer pay for storage of paper documents (ie Invoices, Copies of Checks, Purchase Orders) It allows us to quickly look up and share documentation with our auditors, no longer do we spend hours filing paperwork in file cabinets, and preparing offsite document storage at Year-end, If we are researching a transactions we can go right from the Journal Entry to a transaction to an invoice and pull it up on-screen instead of sifting thru filing cabinets, documents that are yet to be filed or items that may have been moved to off-site storage. **What problems is Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT solving and how is that benefiting you?** Monthly Financials, reporting specialty reports based on Project Codes, Faster monthly bank account reconciliation. ### 39. I use the report feature the most and love the chart organizer. It is much easier and faster to create/change chart templates for financial reports. I setup templates according to grantee requirements to make grant reporting consistent year after year. The audit process is smoother as we can export reports formatted for Excel data. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT?** All of the modules are not in FE NXT, this sometimes can be frustrating for staff as they would much rather work in NXT. **Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT:** I highly recommend Financial Edge NXT for all non profits! **What problems is Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are saving staff time with better reporting and search capabilities. New features seem to be constantly trickling in but it's not all the way there yet. Not every function in database view can be done in NXT. **Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT:** Have some patience as Financial Edge NXT isn't fully fleshed out yet. Their implementation consultants are also not the best, which can be frustrating. **What problems is Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT solving and how is that benefiting you?** We transitioned to Financial NXT from Quickbooks to have stronger internal controls to track and monitor government grants. And something that is symptomatic of cloud computing in general - when it slows down, it can be difficult to pinpoint the causes. **What problems is Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of my primary responsibilities is reporting, and I have found the reporting tools in FE NXT to be much more flexible and usable than our prior, very outdated system.
