The chat support with etapestry is amazing. I always get the help I need and they are gracious enough to help me navigate their difficult system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Blackbaud eTapestry? Etapestry has a very difficult user interface. I think that for as much as you pay for the database services pulling reports on donor information should be much easier. Its really frustrating that I have to go through so many steps. This is not a huge part of my job so I often need to get help from their chat support who always help but I think they need to change this. Etap is also not very modern looking. Even their customized skin options are not aesthetically pleasing. This may not seem like a big deal but donors are more likely to donate to a "pretty page" and one that looks modern like the organization's website. The donation and peer to peer pages have lots of limitations that people using them often complain about to us. Etap should consider adding modern features that lots of other companies offer such as complete customization of donation pages, donating birthday option, donating in honor of someone etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud eTapestry: I would recommend fully taking advantage of the chat support. I would also clean up the reporting and not have multiple people create several reports which can make it very confusing. The peer to peer fundraising platform, although not modern and sometimes difficult does allow for people to fundraise for our organization. It is useful once I can navigate it to get donor information. The system is very frustrating sometimes but in the end we are able to raise money. The access it gave our fundraisers while on the road was great, and its user-friendly approach was great for all of our data needs. Also, it grew and developed along with us! The tech support is wonderful and the developers LISTEN to their clients, thereby continually improving their offering. Data entry is a breeze, and visually, the site is easy on the eyes! Reports and exports are also fairly intuitive and nicely laid out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Blackbaud eTapestry? Entering an account in eTapestry is easy, but in order to send to people jointly, you have to create a "Joint persona," and if you ever change the address on one, you have to manually change it on both. I'm not sure if they've fixed this, but it can cause grief if a data entry assistant does not remember to do this. Some aspects of Moves Management with donors are not as easy to implement at this time as perhaps another Blackbaud offering such as Raiser's Edge. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud eTapestry: I thoroughly enjoyed working with data as an eTapestry user. The product continues to develop and get better each year. The developers listen to their clients and take complaints and suggestions seriously, actively responding with great solutions. eTapestry is "easy on the eyes" and user-friendly. If you are a small to mid-sized (or even a good-sized) non-profit, you will find this database to be a great solution for your office and for the field. Business problems solved: personal fundraising pages are easy to set up, thereby giving students in our university the ability to share their mission projects and $ goals and inspire donors on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. The best part of eTapestry seems to be the dashboard. I like that I can view recent gifts and see the progress of our goals, like new donors and fundraising. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Blackbaud eTapestry? The interface is quite un-intuitive. Despite being able to create custom reports, it is impossible to recreate and add to standard reports which would very useful. Reporting/ Querying in itself is also a major issue. Again, for being so customizable, the interface does not make it easy to use which has disrupted workflow times despite being a cloud technology. As such you would expect a large community for support in forums and blogs. Alas, you will find nothing useful to your particular problem. In fact, eTapestry/ Blackboard had shut down the eTap forum for sometime. That is madness! Aside from the lack of informative guides or dialogue from users, you will find little support from eTapestry. At times they have no idea of the issues appearing in the database. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud eTapestry: I recommend you familiarize yourself with Excel. You'll end up doing most of your work on an exported Excel spreadsheet. I also recommend not using eTapestry. Blackbaud does an excellent job of conducting surveys/ research for fundraising, but this particular CRM is deplorable. To drive the idea home even more, I will describe reporting as such: in order to retrieve the data you want from the database, you essentially have to tell eTapestry what the very data you are looking for is. That defeats the purpose of having a searchable database. Not all fields are searchable, like notes which is very annoying when you are trying to cultivate relationships. I am trying to find out who my donors are. We also use the database to track volunteers. We can't "realize" these people because of poor data input. Unfortunately, the data before my time was not well-maintained. This is no fault of eTapestry. Although the roughness of use may have contributed to the lack to updating. The best thing about eTapestry is the phone support provided by eTapestry's parent company, Blackbaud. They've helped me to navigate through tricky reports and queries to produce the results I desire. The interface is simple and easy to navigate, and allows you to collect a wide variety of data. It has taken much time to find the solution to the problem we were having with data becoming duplicated within the system due to the import process. eTapestry support has proven to be a good help with this issue. The system itself was pretty intuitive, it had the capacity to be able to store a lot of information. There were intuitive routes when submitting information that saved you time (when you would usually have to source a link from a main bar or window, which you could still do). However, I wasn't going to complain about UI when it was a less expensive program. Also, the ways you had to made a 'married' couple was problematic considering it was very gendered (and we were working with a Gay population). Perhaps they've fixed that since then. With how much of a tight ship the non-profit was running, it was a really nice cheap alternative to more expensive programs/systems that perform the same function. eTapestry just asked you to do a bit more on the person end, which we were able to accomplish. Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud eTapestry: It's a product that's not design to scale. If you're a small organization, this is a great product because it doesn't require an in-house IT help because it's easily accessible via web browser and the data is stored in the cloud. It's relatively easy to use, but overall, it's missing some key features that most mid to large sized organizations need to comprehensively track and manage their prospects and donors. What do you dislike about Blackbaud eTapestry? 1) Steep learning curve on queries. eTapestry can pull any type of report imaginable, however, you need to be well-trained in querying & reporting. 2) Expensive! eTapestry charges a lot for each module you add to your database. Even customer service via phone. You have to pay extra to speak with someone on the phone where most CRMs will actually include this service with any account without paying extra. Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud eTapestry: Before purchasing this software, I recommend your organization evaluate just how much you want to do with it. eTapestry has a lot to offer but you pay the price for it. You must decide if you have the manpower and the time to invest in this software to get the value. Our organization is quite unique where we, being a nonprofit, actually serve several other nonprofits. eTapestry allows us to organize all our donor information & gifts and well as our partner organization's donors & gifts. We utilize eTapestry's eCart feature where we can set up registration for fee-based events and send separate registration links to people interested in registering for a particular event. I really appreciate the simplicity of running queries. I can get very targeted results each time without worrying about someone being left off. I also like the standard reports that come with the system. Overall, its a solid system. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of Raiser's Edge, but isn't a nightmare like Result's Plus. Minor, but I dislike the donor info layout. It's a little bit clunky of a snapshot, especially compared to other programs. I also don't like that I can't opeb multiple tabs on my browser with different donors. It brings you back to the home screen when you do this. Super frustrating. What do you dislike about Blackbaud eTapestry? There use to be functionality that was free up to so many users and/or folks entered as donors. It was a handy way to get use to the system without the fear of paying for something you might not utilize. It was a great gateway to invest nothing upfront, discover the benefits and then invest. Now there is a 30 day free option, but as you may know, in nonprofits, depending on the size and scope of what is going on it is easy to see 30 days slip away prior to being able to dig into, load info and use the system.
