We acquired a Bit.ly instance and the renewal emails were going to the wrong person. We noticed a few days before our renewal date and proceeded to ask for a cancellation. Unfortunately in very teeny tiny letters at the bottom was the clause "changes must be made 30 days prior to renewal." What is the point of a renewal date if the actual date is 30 days before? I get it - we didn't read the fine print, but c'mon. Bit.ly's response was "nothing we can do." I was considering using the tool for a different use case, but I don't like being forced into a renewal and I'll look for companies that will respect and partner with us. **What problems is Bitly solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were using the tool to shorten URLs for our product, but it is no longer being used. Instead of alerting and working with us to increase our utility from the tool, we were just billed. ### 17. It's also super simple to use, either on desktop or via the mobile app. **What do you dislike about Bitly?** The fact that the bit.ly custom URLs are case-sensitive, while I understand, make it difficult for some URLs used on graphics or print materials. To cut around that, I just end up making a case-sensitive and all-lowercase version of the important URLs. **What problems is Bitly solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tying data to integrated digital efforts. Love that we can pay to customize the link itself for your brand for paying users, for example, ours were getf.ly. **What do you dislike about Bitly?** Be way that sometimes using these links can mess with your Google Analytics tracking from within your own website. We've had an issue or two with that. Another red flag was that we were noticing Bitly claiming excess referral credit in google analytics and our referral/affiliate program because any time you use their links they attach their own tracking and we were over-attributing their impact even though it was just a bitly shortened link from our own social to our own site, for example. **Recommendations to others considering Bitly:** Give it a try, but also consider all your other options. Just because it's the most common doesn't mean it's always the best. **What problems is Bitly solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's quick, easy, and simple.
