We rely on shortened links to share RSVP pages with clients for the client appreciation events we host, and to clean up longer URLs we send often—like Email Subscribe links, our Team Blog page, and more. We don’t mind paying for the service since it’s scalable, but there was no notice, and the ads weren’t Bit.ly-related. To the average user, it looked like a scam or virus-style redirect. I think that links shortened in the platform should not stop working if someone stops using Bitly. For example, if a company uses Bitly for years and then, for whatever reason, decides not to renew with Bitly and allows their service to expire, the years worth of Bitly links that are out in the universe are no longer active. I wanted to let you know that Bitly Links created do not expire, even if you close your Bitly account. The only difference is if you have/had a custom domain provided by Bitly as a part of your subscription. Since that is a feature of a paid plan, naturally, we cannot maintain it without a subscription. That being said, bit.ly links will remain functional as long as the destination link is not changed. I appreciate how many customization options there are, and it's great how easy it is to keep things organized in the platform. It helps a lot when we create a lot of QR codes for different units within our bigger organization. It's nice to have different ways to organized our QR codes since we deal with many different partners, and we can keep those organized by type. Plus, the customization options are awesome because sometimes we use the same link but need multiple QR codes for it. I feel like sometimes reporting isn't as seamless as I'd like it to be. For example, we like to segment our QR codes. For us, Bitly is much more than just a link shortener—it’s an essential tool for managing links across email, social media, and print materials. We use a branded short domain, which keeps our links looking clean and consistent with our brand. We also generate unique links for each channel, such as newsletters, LinkedIn, X, partner emails, and QR codes. The analytics are genuinely helpful: I can quickly view click volume, referrers, geographic data, and device breakdowns, making it simple to compare performance across channels. The QR code generator is especially useful for event flyers and slide decks. I also appreciate the ability to redirect a short link if the destination changes, ensuring that nothing already published breaks. The free plan is pretty limited now, and several helpful features (branded domains, deeper analytics) sit behind paid tiers. Bulk editing/management is basic — fine for a handful of URLs, tedious when you’re managing campaigns with lots of variants. The subscription tiers could use some improvement. There's a huge jump in cost from the bottom tier to the next tier, which creates a huge gap. It isn't as beneficial in terms of cost for a workplace. It would be nice to have more ad hoc expenses related to just adding more link shorteners to subscription tiers.
