I've been using Bit.ly for over 10 years now, and have benefited from the features and convenience provided, but these have changed more recently. Bitly is now under new management. In the last year, they have removed most of the features available in the free platform, and are now only available in the paid platform. Worse than that, any previously generated free links, are now opted into paid advertising clickthroughs. This is completely unprofessional, and damages the reputation of existing users of bit.ly. If you have any questions or custom upgrades the only way to do this is chat, but unfortunately the chat can't handle custom requests. The chat says that a customer rep will contact me, but that does not happen. I have been waiting for over a month now. The chat is not a human, but an AI only. They trick you with a UI detail so that you think they have a monthly plan and then they charge you with a yearly subscription. Then what? DISASTER - After requesting a refund they answer you that is not possible. Once you tell them you have to right to have the refund they answer you "AFTER 14 DAYS" that you can request refund in 14 days :) Already requested but still no refund. After having our account that we paid nearly $400 for continuously hacked, we have not been able to reach a single human that has obliged to our many requests for assistance. We have changed our password repeatedly yet still have mysterious spam links showing up on our account daily and utilizing our allotted amount of links that we've paid for. We've submitted countless requests via the help/support feature within our account to no avail. We have also tried the support chat ("sorry! nobody is available!") + tweeted at the bitly account + reached out to an employee via LinkedIn (who just directed us back to the unhelpfulness of square one). The offboarding process for customers is difficult and a bit shady. We acquired a Bit.ly instance and the renewal emails were going to the wrong person. We noticed a few days before our renewal date and proceeded to ask for a cancellation. Unfortunately in very teeny tiny letters at the bottom was the clause "changes must be made 30 days prior to renewal." What is the point of a renewal date if the actual date is 30 days before? I get it - we didn't read the fine print, but c'mon. Bit.ly's response was "nothing we can do." I was considering using the tool for a different use case, but I don't like being forced into a renewal and I'll look for companies that will respect and partner with us.
