I explored Bitbucket while reviewing repository management tools and collaboration tools for internal IT scripts operation testing. It proved helpful in scripts management, as we had to give particular access to some staff and some external developers.

I really like Bitbucket for hosting my code platform and managing repositories, especially because I work with a large team and it helps us collaborate effectively. The access control and permissions are easy to maintain, which is important for our workflow. The best feature for me is the CICD pipelines, which are really useful for a large team working across multiple code bases. I love its integration with Jira, allowing me to manage branching strategies and track issues seamlessly. Also, the peer-to-peer review options with easy integration and merging on the UI are great. So the UI is sometimes less intuitive. For example, if I'm having to search for a 'create a branch' option, when I click on create, it sometimes goes to the 'my work' tab or sometimes it goes to the 'create branch' option. So there are few cases like that when compared to other services. One is that. And, if it's a large repo, then PR history is keep piling up, and the auto filter UI page is very crappy. It has a few selected options, auto set options, but they're not helpful. So I think maybe given an option, I would like to arrange my view. And also, it's a little bit slower in loading and changing from pages to pages. So that is not smoother. What I like most about Bitbucket is how easy it makes the entire development flow. Creating pull requests, reviewing changes, and resolving conflicts feels smooth and intuitive. I find Bitbucket very useful for hosting Git repositories for our customers. The integrated CI/CD and multiple pipeline support make it easy to push code through the SDLC. I like how it keeps customer data separate. It's implemented easily with Salesforce, which is our main product, making management of development pipelines, and overall code governance much smoother. It's also very easy to set up, like most Atlassian products, and I appreciate that it integrates natively with Jira. definitely the deep integration with jira is the main selling point. since our whole eng team lives in jira, seeing branch status and pr links right on the ticket without switching tabs is super nice. the pr interface is alright for doing code reviews and the branch permission controls work well for locking down staging/prod environments. the ui feels super clunky and old compared to github. navigating around and searching through repo history just feels slow and laggy sometimes. also bitbucket pipelines can be a huge pain to configure if you have complex ci/cd workflows. the web interface just feels like it has alot of technical debt running underneath.
