There are a lot of bugs, like all drawings are given the same part number, which means there's a decent amount of manual effort required for it to work as intended. Bild does not automatically assign the same part number across files, and part numbers are managed individually per file. We also have safeguards in place that flag duplicate part numbers to help teams avoid conflicts and maintain clean data. The browser interface and preview tools in Bild are really helpful to enable indirect users to access PDM files and keep up to speed with the project without needing to have contributor credentials. The app is effective and with some quick setup can make the user keep up to speed and current on revisions with a couple of clicks. Solidworks' collaboration tools allow easy integration of Bild PDM with multi-user environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Bild? Being a third party PDM, it lacks some of the features that you get with native CAD PDM built-in programs. The renaming folders and files could use some improvement, while preserving metadata. Depending on how the team uses the product, users can often get into a situation where 'getting latest' new files will repeatedly pull HUNDREDS of 'desktop.ini' files, which can get cumbersome on large projects with many users. Bild is serving as a lightweight and inexpensive PDM client for our hybrid remote team across many partner organizations, and has filled a hole to enable our team to make progress at a quick pace with limited investment.
