## Bild Reviews
  ### 1. Easier BOM management and engineering change management compared to SolidWorks PDM

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Bild?**

We moved from SolidWorks PDM to Bild and have found it much easier to manage day to day. It requires a lot less administration, and many of the workflows that previously needed custom setup or workarounds are built in.The BOM management and ECO workflows have had the biggest impact for us. Our previous change process relied on spreadsheets and email threads to track revisions and approvals, which occasionally led to revisions being missed or the wrong revision being released. Bild centralizes that process and makes it easier to manage bill of materials, revisions, and change orders in one place.

**What do you dislike about Bild?**

Nothing in particular. Overall, our experience has been good over the past few years.

**What problems is Bild solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bild helps us manage revision control, BOMs, and change orders. Before Bild, we spent a lot of time juggling files, tracking revisions, and trying to ensure everyone was working from the latest released data. It wasn’t unusual for people to double-check spreadsheets or send emails just to confirm they were looking at the correct revision. Now engineering, sourcing, and operations are all working in the same system, and ECOs move through approvals without anyone having to manually chase people down for signoff. Overall, the process is much easier to follow, and we’ve reduced a lot of the administrative work tied to engineering changes.

  ### 2. Good inexpensive/lightweight PDM, very useful Browser preview and an evolving UX

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Bild?**

The browser interface and preview tools in Bild are really helpful to enable indirect users to access PDM files and keep up to speed with the project without needing to have contributor credentials. The app is effective and with some quick setup can make the user keep up to speed and current on revisions with a couple of clicks. Solidworks' collaboration tools allow easy integration of Bild PDM with multi-user environments.

**What do you dislike about Bild?**

Being a third party PDM, it lacks some of the features that you get with native CAD PDM built-in programs. The renaming folders and files could use some improvement, while preserving metadata. Depending on how the team uses the product, users can often get into a situation where 'getting latest' new files will repeatedly pull HUNDREDS of 'desktop.ini' files, which can get cumbersome on large projects with many users. More support documentation or user forums would be very helpful.

**What problems is Bild solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bild is serving as a lightweight and inexpensive PDM client for our hybrid remote team across many partner organizations, and has filled a hole to enable our team to make progress at a quick pace with limited investment.

**Official Response from Jordan Ritchie:**

> Thanks for the review - we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and feedback.

We’re glad the browser preview and collaboration capabilities have been valuable for your team

The repeated desktop.ini syncing behavior is something our team can help resolve quickly. If you’re open to reaching out, we’d be happy to take a look and get that cleaned up for your workspace.

Really appreciate the feedback. Thanks for being a part of the Bild community!

  ### 3. Cross-Platform Ease with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex T. | Flight Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Bild?**

I like that Bild is cross-platform, which means it can be accessed via MacOS, Linux (albeit just over the web), and Windows. This feature is particularly beneficial because our mechanical engineers primarily use Windows, while software engineers use Linux or MacOS. It allows us to have a common place for documentation and eliminates the need for everyone to be on the same OS. The initial setup of Bild was pretty easy for our team.

**What do you dislike about Bild?**

The Windows desktop app can be buggy. Syncing is kind of broken, and ideally, there would be a virtual file system so you could see all the files, not just the ones you have checked out, but that's not part of it.

**What problems is Bild solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bild provides a compliant service for storing engineering files and documentation with process control for release and editing. It's cross-platform, allowing our engineers on different OS to access documentation in one place.

**Official Response from Jordan Ritchie:**

> Thanks for the thoughtful feedback, we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

We’re glad the cross-platform flexibility has been valuable for your team. It’s great to hear the setup process was straightforward as well.

Regarding the virtual file system experience - there may just be a filter on. Bild allows you to see all available files across your workspace, including what teammates have checked out, what you have checked out, local files, non local files, and everything within the workspace. We’d be happy to grab a few minutes to walk through this with you and make sure everything is working the way it should for your team.

Really appreciate the partnership and the honest input. Thanks for being a part of the Bild community!

  ### 4. Efficient PDM for CAD with Room for Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Bild?**

I use Bild as a PDM service for CAD files. I appreciate that it keeps old revisions of files, which allows us to revert if something breaks and experiment with features. It's helpful that Bild ensures only one person works on a file at a time, preventing multiple concurrent versions. The nice GUI that controls local files makes it user-friendly. I also like that new features are being added all the time, making my workflow smoother and removing slowdowns. Compared to older PDM clients where features can be hidden, Bild's features are well-located.

**What do you dislike about Bild?**

Become more integrated with SolidWorks. The plug-in isn't great.

**What problems is Bild solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Bild to keep old revisions of files, allowing us to revert if needed and experiment with features. It ensures only one person works on a file at a time, preventing multiple versions. The features are well-located, making my workflow smoother and removing slowdowns.

  ### 5. Miles better than 3dexperience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen U. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Bild?**

I like how quickly things update with Bild compared to previous PDM platforms we've used, it's so much faster. Fast upload and download times make it much easier to do frequent check-ins, so you can have snapshots. The initial setup of Bild was super easy, just adding data and the user interface made it easy to understand what was going on.

**What do you dislike about Bild?**

I wish it integrated a bit more into Windows Explorer with virtual files support and into Solidworks so we can check in and get the latest version via the plugin.

**What problems is Bild solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Bild for CAD data management, BOM generation, and version control. It solves the problem of ensuring everyone uses the latest CAD by updating quickly, and the easy interface streamlines our workflow.

  ### 6. Great PDM/PLM software, easy to use and practical solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cesar M. | Lead Mechancial Design Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Bild?**

BILD offers great PDM capabilities, and working with it has allowed our company to perform work remotely while keeping all of our data organized. It’s easy to use, and the customer support has been excellent. There are multiple updates throughout the year that help improve customer satisfaction. Implementation and onboarding for new users is also a straightforward process.

**What do you dislike about Bild?**

Some features are only available in the web version, but after multiple updates to the desktop version over the last year, this has improved.

**What problems is Bild solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bild helps with data administration by eliminating duplicate information and reducing the time remote designers spend trying to download information from the server through a VPN connection. This lets designers focus on what really matters, without having to worry about file handling and information administration.

**Official Response from Jordan Ritchie:**

> Thank you for your review! We really appreciate you sharing your experience.

We’re glad to hear Bild has helped your team work remotely while keeping design data organized and easy to manage. We’re also happy to hear that you found the onboarding process so straightforward. Getting teams up and running quickly is a huge priority for us.

Thanks again for being part of the Bild community!

  ### 7. Streamlined Document Management with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonah A.

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Bild?**

I like that Bild has allowed us to more easily share and organize files and create more automated BOM management, which helps us avoid typos and human errors. I like the quick and easy metadata management and built-in feedback options. It's nice to be able to customize the metadata and create different types of data inputs, like dropdown menus. The built-in feedback is very nice to be able to draw and add notes directly to the drawing and submit the feedback for review through Bild itself. This keeps the communication organized and tracked. Bild also allows us to maintain our BOM and create ECOs as well as have an easy-to-use file management system.

**What do you dislike about Bild?**

The revisioning methods don't work well for our workflow. The revisions up rev on release, and we would like the revision to up rev when we begin editing. This creates confusion when releasing REV 2, because when going back to make edits, it still shows rev 2 during editing and doesn't change to rev 3 until after release. Even though rev 2 has been released, it says rev 2 as we're making changes towards the next design. We would also like to edit file names in BILD without breaking SolidWorks links. The initial setup took time, needing manual creation of levels in our Excel BOM before uploading to BILD. Uploading files for new projects is also time-consuming; we want to name parts by Part Number but can't until uploaded into BILD. Afterwards, renaming required doing it outside BILD, then uploading and pairing with the old name. Additionally, we'd like to add raw PDFs to ECOs and have them download when exporting PDFs.

**What problems is Bild solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bild simplifies file sharing and organization, automates BOM management reducing errors, and offers easy metadata customization with built-in feedback. Switching from Solidworks PDM, Bild maintains BOMs, creates ECOs, and improves file management.

**Official Response from Jordan Ritchie:**

> Thanks for the thoughtful review! We’re glad to hear Bild has helped streamline file sharing, organization, and BOM management, and that features like metadata customization and built-in feedback are making communication and reviews easier for your team. Reducing manual errors and keeping everything connected in one place is a big part of what we’re aiming to deliver.

We also appreciate the feedback around revisioning, file renaming, and project setup. Different teams have different release and revision workflows, and input like this helps us prioritize improvements so Bild fits more real-world workflows.

Thanks again for your feedback and for being part of the Bild community.

  ### 8. Effortless File Sharing & Viewer with Bild

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Bild?**

I really enjoy using the viewer in Bild. It's easy to use and makes sense to me. I find it easy to share files, which makes sharing engineering files between manufacturing and design straightforward. The ability to do markups and share right on Bild is very helpful. I also like the open file viewer, and the fact that PDFs and STL files can be created is significant for me. The initial setup of Bild was easy.

**What do you dislike about Bild?**

N/A

**What problems is Bild solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bild lets me share engineering files easily, allowing multiple people to view and do markups. The viewer is simple and shareable.

  ### 9. Bild PDM Saved Our Sanity—Simple, Fast, and Reliable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Bild?**

Bild PDM saved our sanity! It's simple, fast, and just works. Versioning and search actually make life easier, and support is genuinely helpful. Enya is the absolute best at handling anything we may need of her! Highly recommend.

**What do you dislike about Bild?**

I'd like the SolidWorks Plugin to have extended capabilities because it currently makes the day to day easier.

**What problems is Bild solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's saving me hours of work each week, we no longer have to worry about finding the latest version of a file in a drive.

  ### 10. Helpful Online Viewer, But Bugs and Slow Upload Processing Hold It Back

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Bild?**

The online viewer is very helpful for quickly sharing designs.

**What do you dislike about Bild?**

It feels very unfinished. I frequently run into bugs such as not being able to log in or the Solidworks integration not working. It also periodically does not handle deleted files well and they get recreated. The time it takes for a upload to process can also be frustrating.

**What problems is Bild solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No good PDM solutions exist for Solidworks. It is probably better than Solidworks PDM, but frankly I am no longer sure.

**Official Response from Jordan Ritchie:**

> Thanks for the feedback - we really appreciate you taking the time to share it.

We’re glad the online viewer has been valuable for quickly sharing and reviewing designs across teams.

We’d definitely like to better understand the issues you mentioned. We haven’t seen reports of the login problems, so we’d love to look into what may be happening in your specific environment. For the SolidWorks integration issue, a clean reinstall of the SolidWorks add-in can often resolve it quickly.

We’ve also recently implemented fixes related to deleted files being unintentionally recreated. And in general, uploads should feel near-immediate, so it sounds like there may be something environment-specific going on that we’d love to troubleshoot directly with you.

We’d be happy to jump on a quick call, walk through everything together, and make sure things are working smoothly for your team. Please send us a message and we can coordinate time with the team.

Really appreciate the candid feedback, and thanks for being part of the Bild community.
