While I have not used BigCommerce's customer service myself, I have heard from other designers that they are much better than Shopify, which unless you are a top tier account, can be a bit frustrating to talk to someone. **What do you dislike about BigCommerce?** Having re-designed websites on both BigCommerce and Shopify, I found BigCommerce to be a bit less intuitive. As a graphic designer, I do not know much HTML/CSS so I rely heavily on using a template as a framework and doing light tweaks from there. It felt much more intuitive to use Shopify's overall interface and I preferred it over BigCommerce as someone who is more visual and not technical. The templates Shopify offers also felt like they much more aligned with what I needed and what my company wanted. **What problems is BigCommerce solving and how is that benefiting you?** They are a tool to sell product online to the company I work for's customer base. ### 4. That ended up being a bad decision. **What do you dislike about BigCommerce?** They inflate their cart's headless capabilities. So many out-of-the-box BigCommerce native checkout integrations don't work on their embedded cart. It's very frustrating, and the sales crew and technical sales crew won't tell you that. They are missing so many endpoints for customers and accounts, its very challenging to build a headless storefront with Bigcommerce, and I wouldn't recommend it. **What problems is BigCommerce solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were hoping to run a headless storefront built on VUE.js with Nuxt... ### 6. It's poor. Their communication system went down, payment method expired, they admittedly due to internal glitch in communication failed to notify me, proceeds to take site down in peak season, and then offers no make good, proceeds to tell me we don't refund monthly fees?? Meanwhile, a small business during COVID LOSES TWO DAYS OF ONLINE REVENUE AFTER THEY FAIL TO MEET THEIR COMMUNICATION OR ANY COMMUNICATION OBLIGATIONS. THIS IS NOT GOOD BUSINESS. DOESN'T MATTER HOW WONDERFUL THE TOOL IS IF THE COMPANY ISNT WILLING TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE TO A 6 YEAR+ SUBSCRIBER ON THE TWO BIGGEST ONLINE PICKUP HOLIDAY ORDERS OF OUR YEAR. THEN TO BE TOLD REPEATEDLY TOLD, ALBEIT THEY ARE ADDMITTEDLY AT FAULT, WE DONT REIMBURSE ANYONE EVER AND ITS MY OBLIGATION TO UPDATE THE CREDIT CARD DATE?? ARE YPU KIDDING HAVE YOU RUN A SMALL BUSINESS, NO ONE HAS TIME FOR THAT AND THATS WHY WE WERE SIGNED UP FOR AUTO PAY; ALL COMPANIES ON AUTOPAY NOTIFY THEIR CUSTOMERS OF EXPIRING PAYMENT METHODS TO AVOID THIS, BUT WHEN THIS ONE HAS A "GLITCH" AS THEY CALL IT, THEY DONT OWN IT. THEY SAY "OH WELL, LETS JUST GET THE ACCOUNT UP TO DATE AND YOU LOST WHAT YOU LOST. YOUR PROBLEM, NOT OURS." If not resolved to my satisfaction, I, moving to Shopify. I am gravely disappointed that a platform service as well designed as this one is not backed up by a customer service to match. **Recommendations to others considering BigCommerce:** Be wary. The tool is great. The customer support is beyond lacking or small business oriented. I don't care they brag they can support big brands too like Ben & Jerry's but when I ask for support for their screw up they lay it all at the feet of the SB owner. Not SB oriented at all! **What problems is BigCommerce solving and how is that benefiting you?** At the Moment, none. I have on th e past but now I have encountered the brick wall that is their customer service policy, which is more like a them policy vs a custo,er policy. Having over ten years running a customer service division in a prior company, not that the individual was rude (he was professional and calm), but the untenable, non custo,er focused script and facts he was using demoed to me that they are not trained for custo,er service but customer mitigation admitting no wrong and simply putting the entire onus on the customer. Again bad business 101, if u provide a a Customer w poor service, and it's ur fault, u make it good. No one is align for the potential revenue back but the least they could do is refund me a month fee of $30to make up for their own inadequacy and failure to provide correct communication ### 7. It is not user friendly unless you are very experienced in web design. Especially credit card processors. They really do make that part easy. **What do you dislike about BigCommerce?** Finding your way around a website is one of the most difficult things I've done, thanks BigCommerce. Thankfully my time with the client using the platform was minimal. **Recommendations to others considering BigCommerce:** Consider something easier to work with. Finding a card processor can be done without the use of BigCommerce. It was user friendly and did not require much training. **What do you dislike about BigCommerce?** We had a lot of issues with BigCommerce communicating properly with Square and StitchLabs. Customer service tried to help but it was a lot of blaming the other systems (which we were also working with through customer service) instead of trying to fix the problem on their end. **What problems is BigCommerce solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use BigCommerce for our online store and rely heavily on it to work properly. We also use it for our online orders which we aim to generate a lot of our revenue from. ### 13. The reporting is a joke and then you can pay more to get "insights" which are also useless. Setting up new channels like Amazon and Facebook never goes smoothly and ends up being a frustrating time suck. **What problems is BigCommerce solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our big reason for switching to bigcommerce was to have almost 100% up time. That has been pretty nice to not have to worry about, except for that one time payments went working and they didn't warn anyone. ### 14. Spending 3500 bucks because the above is untrue. BC involves third parties for everything Asian customer service, never the same guy twice. Paying 2% of sales AND paying a monthly fee **Recommendations to others considering BigCommerce:** Look around. Don't believe everything you read.
