Before, not being able to know who was accessing it, when they were accessing it, and what they were accessing put us in a very risky situation. However, the integration with Privileged Remote Access is still somewhat limited because it only supports Windows endpoints. As a result, other types of connections have to be set up manually. Depending on your environment's needs, they support using jump clients (software installed on the endpoint), jumpoints (no clients on the endpoints), or a combination of both. They have added features in the last year since we deployed that have massively improved the product overall. I think if they continue adding and refining features that are not only geared towards their cloud/SaaS product, PRA can become a solid product that can fit almost any environment's needs. **What do you dislike about BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access?** I think our biggest remaining gripe of BT PRA is the implementation of high availability or what they call 'failover relationship'. The failover is not seamless by any means and relies on your network/environment having a few components (ex: load balancer) to work properly. I think offering an active/active HA type setup would be a huge plus or even more of a clustering type set up. We use the on-premise installation so I'm sure it can be different for their cloud/SaaS product. Another smaller issue is that the license is tied to a hostname/fqdn so if you decide to change it for any reason, you MUST contact support and go through a process to get a new license created and re-issued. For on-prem especially, this seems like a hassle when it could be tied to a unique ID on the appliance and then would allow for more flexibility in various deployment & testing scenarios. I also would really like the web/browser console to be more useful overall so that a desktop access console isn't even needed on a user's PC. Unfortunately, it still has some shortcomings like performance/lag issues, no audio passthrough, multiple monitor support, etc. **What problems is BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access solving and how is that benefiting you?** In our various OT environments, we need a remote access product that can be flexible and offer different deployment options. For example, agentless is very important so we use the jumpoint deployment strategy. We needed to move away from legacy remote access products like standard SSL VPNs and PRA offered several features we needed. Almost every product out there is moving towards cloud based only and PRA had a good on-premise solution. As long as it doesn't get ignored, I think the market for on-premise remote access is still very important and should be focused on greatly. ### 9. The set-up was done together with a partner and was pretty straight forward. When we bumped in an issue we could quickly get support from TAC and it was rapidly resolved. What we really like is the subscription model, we do not need to calculate how many external users will connect to our systems, we just buy a license per device, this is really a gamechanger in the PAM solution landscape. We have now daily users connected to our systems without issues. **What do you dislike about BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access?** There is a learning curve when you start with it, as there are lots of configuration parameters that can be enabled and disabled by just ticking boxes. We are able to provide Agent based or Jump client method of connectivity or Agentless like Remote RDP/ Remote APP through Jump Points based on the Application or Servers port restrictions. if one of the methods has any issue, we can able to use other method without affecting end users' productivity we can maintain resiliency. There are many other new features added by modern PAM for Zero trust Privileged connection and JIT. **What do you dislike about BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access?** Some vendors have shared accounts and they must always go via the approval process. Vendors doesnt prefer the approval process. We cant say this is a drawback, but convincing the customer and vendor is the main problem here. On Emergency also the Vendor needs to get the approval and it is difficult to get approval from the Client managers during off hours. PRA supports Controls, SCADA, and environment remote access - They certify themselves in many ways (such as NERC-CIP) to support the use of their product in environments that require strict regulations about remote access. PRA supports 3rd parties - They have a section/method to add your 3rd party contractors, and vendors in a safe manner to grant remote access not just to your employees, but to the companies you do business with. **What do you dislike about BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access?** The price for a product like this is higher than most. Granted this product is well thought out and more secure for remote management than most, so there's a reason why they are more expensive, but it doesn't discount that if you're on a budget, you probably can't justify the higher cost. If the safe and secure remote access is at or near the top of your list then this is a serious contender. Know your budget. This product is not going to be inexpensive, but it will do the things you need it to. Have in house support. Your best chances are to have an expert in-house who can configure this product for you.
