## About HEY
Email deserves a dust off. A renovation. Modernized for the way we email today. With HEY, we’ve done just that. It’s a redo, a rethink, a simplified, potent reintroduction of email. A fresh start, the way it should be. HEY is our love letter to email, and we’re sending it to you on the Web, Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.

## HEY Reviews
  ### 1. Beautiful concept, mixed execution, limited utility

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about HEY?**

The web interface and beautiful workflows are reminiscent of all Basecamp products. The "Basecamp way" encapsulates UX simplicity and elegance over feature functionality and parity, evidently in HEY's "Imbox" approach - which is, in essence, a white-labeled Inbox that auto-sorts other white-labeled emails (namely, Newsletters to the "The Feed" and Receipts/Notifications to the "Paper Trail"). The design is sleek and simplistic, with a mobile-first responsive layout and a clean, artistic design.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

HEY is not a full-fledged mail experience; it's just a web site. This is important, especially since Basecamp has elected to remove key email functionality to streamline the user experience. For example, there is limited functionality to build rules, triggers, and automations in mail behaviors; collaboration, while novel, is primarily limited to other HEY users; and, the mail 'client' is essentially just a web experience. It's this third item that proves problematic: you cannot download mail to an offline third-party email client, and the iOS and Android apps are - for admitted maintenance purposes - essentially just wrappers for the HEY.com website experience. Because of this, it's hard to recommend HEY as a total email replacement for people who aren't bought in to using the web for their email, and for business users, the limited integration and functionality with productivity apps and stand-alone clients will be a deal-breaker.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HEY helps me spend less time reading emails, and the emails that I do read are timely, relevant, consolidated, and actionable. This experience makes my time more valuable, and I spend much less time weeding out irrelevant emails, let alone spam.

  ### 2. Great system for email power users who value top notch security. A bit pricey though.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about HEY?**

I signed up a little after launch and was excited to use an email client that took security and data sharing seriously. Hey absolutely delivered on this promise. It has strong protection features and you must be able to use an authenticator program in order to confirm your identity. It also has the ability to remove all email tracking pixels. I also liked having the flexibility of splitting up my workflow between work and personal. Basecamp is a great company and i enjoy their other software.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

It was challenging to integrate into my daily workflow or my tasks. It felt like it was an island to itself which is excellent but not for a user like myself. I rely heavily on browser extensions and use Google to sign in to most of my apps. This "island" made adapting to Hey difficult. HEY is not cheap, i paid $99 for a year and realize now that it was a poor decision. I'm not an email power user and i should have realized that before subscribing for one year.

**Recommendations to others considering HEY:**

If privacy is your top concern, then HEY is a solid choice. I would suggest taking a trial and using it for a few weeks to see if it fits your needs. It is also relatively expensive. If you are open to rethink the way you manage emails then this might be a great solution for you. HEY is easy to access form your PC, ios devices and android phones. HEY also gives you details

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HEY does have an excellent system for filtering your inbox into various buckets. I felt like i could cateogorize my inbox way more than Gmail and that makes finding a past email or receipt a lot easier. Allowing you to focus on work emails than with a switch of a filter catch up on any news, updates from friends, etc HEY also has a great feature that allows you to screen first time senders, which is awesome when somehow your email gets added to a random email list. SPAM email doesn't pile up this way.
