## HEY Reviews
  ### 1. Excellent email experience, horrendous company

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vinod V. | Editor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2023

**What do you like best about HEY?**

Amazingly reinvented email experience. Especially as a prior Basecamp user, it was quite easy to get used to.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

The fact that the company is run by two pretentious shitheads

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At the moment, Hey is solving no problems because I didn't renew after the first year.

  ### 2. Best solution for email

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pedro A. | Head of technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2023

**What do you like best about HEY?**

I have been using Hey for several months and am delighted with it. The interface is user-friendly and easy to navigate, making it simple to manage my inbox. Additionally, the provider does a great job of filtering out unwanted content, which helps to keep my inbox organized and free of spam. I am delighted with this email provider and highly recommend it to others.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

One thing that I have noticed is that the search function could be more robust. Finding specific emails can sometimes be difficult, especially when searching through older messages. Additionally, Hey doesn't have a calendar tool embedded.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the things that I appreciate most about Hey is its ability to filter out unwanted content, such as spam. The provider has a powerful spam filter that does an excellent job of identifying and blocking unwanted emails, which helps to keep my inbox clean and organized. Additionally, it allows me to create custom filters to sort and prioritize my incoming emails quickly. This means that I only see the messages I am most interested in and don't waste time sifting through irrelevant emails. Overall, Hey's filtering and spam-blocking capabilities have made managing my inbox more efficient and pleasant.

  ### 3. Nice approach to email but lacks some key features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike R. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2023

**What do you like best about HEY?**

Sharing email threads with the link, Reply Lates/Set aside feature, User Interface - it is a pleasure to write emails, Ability to rename emails/threads, good performance. A good filtering system (where you can just screenout some of the senders)

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

Biggest issue is the lack of calendar integration. So we still need to pay for Google Suite and it creates a mess with calendar invite confirmations. Search might be better, sometimes it doesn't find what you're looking for. Replying to long emails in a thread make an interface a total mess.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Replying to emails faster, save time on email processing. Sharing email threads with colleagues without forwarding - that's a huge one, just this feature worth the service subscription fee.

  ### 4. Excellent idea and well executed

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jean-Philippe P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2023

**What do you like best about HEY?**

Simplicity, keep out of sight unwanted email. Work on all platforms including linux. Beautiful app.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

Missing some components that I'm used too. Todo and calendar included with my mail app would be great. Setting the time of the bubble up would also be nice. But I get they're trying something new, so I'll try their vision of it.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transforming email in a useful tool and saving time to clear all of them. Taking unwanted / unurgent email out of sight. Interface is great, very fluid and eye catching

  ### 5. Hey is a good email platform that is getting better.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin M. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2023

**What do you like best about HEY?**

Hey has many features that make email more organized and enjoyable to use, such as: Reliably filtering email into important emails, newsletters and publicity and transactional emails (something that Gmail doesn't always do reliably). Another feature I like is the ability to create webpages simply by typing out an email and pressing send. Finally, if you need to send a whole thread of emails to someone, Hey will generate a link to do that, which is helpful as you can insert the link without actually having to forward the emails.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

Hey costs 99 USD a year, so you must evaluate if you are willing to pay to have your email sorted. Having email automatically and reliably sorted will help you be more organized; however, over time, I noticed I started to accumulate a lot of unread emails anyway, so if you are not careful, you will still have clutter in your inbox

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hey helps me sort through the clutter of dozens of new emails each day and organize my emails, so I know that is actually important.

  ### 6. A game changing solution to multiple emails problem.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Konjengbam M. | BDR, Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2023

**What do you like best about HEY?**

Love the part where we can check all the emails from different email addresses in one inbox. Love this platform for solving the problem of difficulty in keeping up with multiple emails by the users.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

Wish if the signup from the mobile app was easier. It would really be good if this platform was readily available free of cost for personal uses while charging for commercial needs.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hey is solving the problem by allowing users to browse multiple email addresses all in one inbox hence reducing time consumption and hurdles to checking all the emails.

  ### 7. Beautiful concept, mixed execution, limited utility

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan G. | Senior Vice President of Customer Success, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2021

**What do you like best about HEY?**

The web interface and beautiful workflows are reminiscent of all Basecamp products. The "Basecamp way" encapsulates UX simplicity and elegance over feature functionality and parity, evidently in HEY's "Imbox" approach - which is, in essence, a white-labeled Inbox that auto-sorts other white-labeled emails (namely, Newsletters to the "The Feed" and Receipts/Notifications to the "Paper Trail"). The design is sleek and simplistic, with a mobile-first responsive layout and a clean, artistic design.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

HEY is not a full-fledged mail experience; it's just a web site. This is important, especially since Basecamp has elected to remove key email functionality to streamline the user experience. For example, there is limited functionality to build rules, triggers, and automations in mail behaviors; collaboration, while novel, is primarily limited to other HEY users; and, the mail 'client' is essentially just a web experience. It's this third item that proves problematic: you cannot download mail to an offline third-party email client, and the iOS and Android apps are - for admitted maintenance purposes - essentially just wrappers for the HEY.com website experience. Because of this, it's hard to recommend HEY as a total email replacement for people who aren't bought in to using the web for their email, and for business users, the limited integration and functionality with productivity apps and stand-alone clients will be a deal-breaker.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HEY helps me spend less time reading emails, and the emails that I do read are timely, relevant, consolidated, and actionable. This experience makes my time more valuable, and I spend much less time weeding out irrelevant emails, let alone spam.

  ### 8. Great idea, too bad it’s practically abandoned.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roman R. | Founder, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2022

**What do you like best about HEY?**

Simplicity and new bold alternative to Inbox Zero.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

No customisation, even shortcuts. App doesn't delete with Delete key, for example.
A desktop app is a wrapper for the web app. Like when you navigate to the next mail message or from message to inbox, you have to wait for the page load with the progress bar!! Seriously.
No iPad app.
It could have a good UX if they didn't go overboard with simplicity. I keep forgetting that "Hey" logo at the top is the main menu.
Generally, the product looks unfinished. Essential features are missing. But then you look at the release date and it's more than 3 years ago! That can only mean it's abandoned.
Looks like Basecamp became like Google now - has too much money so they can release great promising products and then abandon them once user base grown significantly. The “minor updates” that been going on for since 2020 don’t count.
Appears that there's sole developer assigned updating this app part-time. I wonder what is the other more important project that's taking all resources, perhaps another abandonware in making.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Alternative take on inbox zero, probably even better.
More focus on your work, less distraction.

  ### 9. Great system for email power users who value top notch security. A bit pricey though.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kathy A. | Director of Brand Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2021

**What do you like best about HEY?**

I signed up a little after launch and was excited to use an email client that took security and data sharing seriously. Hey absolutely delivered on this promise. It has strong protection features and you must be able to use an authenticator program in order to confirm your identity. It also has the ability to remove all email tracking pixels. I also liked having the flexibility of splitting up my workflow between work and personal. Basecamp is a great company and i enjoy their other software.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

It was challenging to integrate into my daily workflow or my tasks. It felt like it was an island to itself which is excellent but not for a user like myself. I rely heavily on browser extensions and use Google to sign in to most of my apps. This "island" made adapting to Hey difficult. HEY is not cheap, i paid $99 for a year and realize now that it was a poor decision. I'm not an email power user and i should have realized that before subscribing for one year.

**Recommendations to others considering HEY:**

If privacy is your top concern, then HEY is a solid choice. I would suggest taking a trial and using it for a few weeks to see if it fits your needs. It is also relatively expensive. If you are open to rethink the way you manage emails then this might be a great solution for you. HEY is easy to access form your PC, ios devices and android phones. HEY also gives you details

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HEY does have an excellent system for filtering your inbox into various buckets. I felt like i could cateogorize my inbox way more than Gmail and that makes finding a past email or receipt a lot easier. Allowing you to focus on work emails than with a switch of a filter catch up on any news, updates from friends, etc HEY also has a great feature that allows you to screen first time senders, which is awesome when somehow your email gets added to a random email list. SPAM email doesn't pile up this way.

  ### 10. Want to take control of your email? Hey, I've got a solution for you

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Conrad C. | Director of Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2021

**What do you like best about HEY?**

If you're ready to completely change the way you approach email — and most importantly, take control of your email once and for all, Hey is the solution for you. Basecamp, the company behind Hey, has been focused on productivity for years, and that shows up here. Hey wants you to be able to quickly process through your email — replying to people, scanning your newsletters, and filing receipts or tracking information on orders for later reference. Everything is divided well and the user interface is super intuitive. Think of it like Superhuman, but for people who don't want to learn keyboard shortcuts. Or something like that.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

One of the only main complaints I have about Hey is that it just feels childish and oversimplified. This is probably a silly complaint, but the oversized type and weird fonts kind of make it feel like using one of those Jitterbug phones for senior citizens. I already pay for Hey, but I'd pay good money for the option to customize fonts and font sizes. Other than that, there's not much not to love here.

**Recommendations to others considering HEY:**

If you're willing to get used to a different appearance and adapt to a new way of processing emails, Hey is well worth checking out.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I moved to Hey after losing all patience with the 75,000 unread emails in my personal Outlook email inbox. Years of things I didn't sign up for or don't read anymore finally took their toll, and I gave up and started over. There's a lot to love here, but one of my favorite features is the ability to file away things in what Hey calls "The Paper Trail." It's perfect for keeping receipts, tracking numbers, order confirmations, and things you don't want sitting pinned at the top of your inbox but also need to be able to find and reference easily.

One of the main complaints about Hey when it was first released was the lack of support for domain-based email, but Hey has added that. Since I work for a large org, I haven't transitioned our entire organization over to using Hey, but it's definitely something I've considered doing.

  ### 11. Is the best option for administrate emails

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Magaly A. | Laboratory Head, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2022

**What do you like best about HEY?**

Easy to use and increased my productivity. It significantly reduces email search time and is very useful for sharing with teammates. The UI is straightforward and likely the best in the market.

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

I would like the tool to unify several emails in one place. At this time, this is not possible, but it would help simplify and organize emails. Actually the tool is quite good and I don't have features that I don't like.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Significantly reduced the time to return to the context of certain emails was. It also allows you never to lose related information. Additionally, I can now attach much larger files than other platforms allow.

  ### 12. Good looking email address, even better email inbox!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sheridan J. | D, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2021

**What do you like best about HEY?**

The main reason I started using Hey was because having a hey.com email address really appealed to me - nice to be different from the crowds on gmail, icloud etc. etc. Then after I signed up, I found it's also a great platform, with a beautiful UI!

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

Nothing comes to mind really! I reserve giving out my hey.com email address to too many people so I'm still across multiple platforms and it's always pleasant to log-in or use the app.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

hey.com email addresses are pretty cool! Also, they help you protect your inbox which is nice (especially in a world where email inboxes can so easily fill with junk!)

  ### 13. Simply the best email tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristofer G. | Ingeniero de software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2022

**What do you like best about HEY?**

The way you organize and group your emails is excellent. It allows you to make internal comments between colleagues about sent or received emails. Information presentation is clear and useful

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

I understand that it is a tool that does not allow access to emails from other companies. It should enable a much more transparent migration from other service providers.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I solved the excess of information and the little traceability of the data. This increased my productivity by focusing on what matters and sharing an email story without having to forward it.

  ### 14. Really practical and functional

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristofer G. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2021

**What do you like best about HEY?**

The way you organize your conversations is really helpful. It is much simpler to see the emails organized like this.

It's also great to be able to send large files

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

I would like it to allow you to manage emails from other companies such as gmail. The tool is very good but it would be much easier to migrate to Hey, many companies already have corporate emails with years of history and it is not so easy to change providers.

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly sharing information from any email with colleagues in my organization and sending large files without using third-party storage services is very practical

  ### 15. The Apple of email platforms

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** andreas g. | Lead Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2021

**What do you like best about HEY?**

Every time there is a new sender you get asked if you want to allow (screen in) or reject (screen out) further emails from that sender

**What do you dislike about HEY?**

I believe there could have been more pricing options (eg monthly quarterly etc)

**Recommendations to others considering HEY:**

there is a month of free trial

**What problems is HEY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves me a lot of time as it doesn't spam me with senders I don't want to receive emails from and it allows me to have all the bill mails sent to a second inbox (called paper trail)
