What is Barndoor? Barndoor is an AI gateway and AI control plane for Mid-Market and Enterprise organizations that need to govern LLM and MCP usage across employees, AI agents, and applications. AI clients, agents, and automations connect to LLMs and MCP servers through the Barndoor AI Gateway instead of directly. Each request is authenticated against the organization's identity provider, checked against policy, scanned for sensitive data, metered, and logged. Barndoor combines LLM gateway, MCP gateway, and AI security functions under one policy model and integrates with any LLM provider, any MCP server wherever it's hosted, and existing security tools. AI Gateway capabilities: - LLM and MCP gateway: one entry point for model and MCP tool calls, with credential management, virtual keys, rate limiting, and failover across 100+ LLM providers - MCP registry: a central catalog of approved MCP servers and tools that employees and agents can connect to - MCP access control: identity-aware, tool-level permissions, with AI agents assigned their own identity so people and agents follow the same rules - Runtime policy enforcement: policies evaluated on every call decide which users and agents reach which LLMs, MCP tools, and automations, and which actions require human approval - Data protection: detects PII, secrets, financial data, and prompt injection in prompts and responses, then blocks, redacts, masks, or tokenizes before data leaves the environment - AI cost controls: budgets, rate limits, and spend tracking by user, team, application, or automation - AI adoption visibility: one dashboard for LLM usage, MCP tool calls, automation runs, latency, cost, and policy decisions, with adoption measured by employee, agent, department, and organization - Audit and compliance: a complete log of AI activity for security reviews and regulatory requirements - Integrations: connects to SIEM, identity providers, and enterprise tools
