We have had a good experience using the Kaleyra Video API to add real time video features into our platform. The main advantage for us has been how flexible it is. It does not lock you into a rigid user interface or workflow, which makes it easier to shape the video experience around our own product. After the initial setup, daily use has been fairly smooth. Things like creating and managing sessions, handling participants, and controlling video flows are all pretty straightforward. The dashboard is useful for basic configuration and monitoring. It is clean and easy enough to navigate, although at times it could be a bit clearer, especially when you are new to the system or dealing with more complex troubleshooting. Performance has been solid for our use cases. Sessions connect reliably and video quality has generally been stable. In production, that consistency is important because any interruption affects the end user directly. We have not run into major issues in normal usage, and responsiveness has been good for real time communication. Of course, like any video solution, actual performance still depends on network conditions and how it is implemented, but overall it has felt dependable. From a cost perspective, it makes the most sense when you actually need a customizable API based solution. If you are building video into your own product and want full control over the experience, the flexibility can justify the investment because it reduces the need for workarounds. For simpler or smaller use cases, it may be worth checking whether you are using enough of its capabilities, but for embedded video features it can offer strong value. The onboarding process does take some time to get used to, which is expected for this type of API. The documentation helps with the basics, but it could go further in explaining advanced scenarios and edge cases more clearly. Once you get past the initial learning curve, development becomes easier. Support has been helpful when we reached out, especially for integration questions, although a smoother onboarding experience would make it easier for new teams to get started. We did not really use any AI related features, so that was not a focus area for us. Our main interest was the reliability of the video infrastructure and the flexibility of the API. Overall, Kaleyra Video API is a strong choice for teams that want to embed video deeply into their product and need a solution they can adapt to their own workflows. Before using Kaleyra Video API, we struggled with building and maintaining our own real time video infrastructure, which required significant engineering effort and ongoing maintenance. It also made it harder to deliver a smooth, in product video experience without relying on external tools or redirecting users elsewhere. After implementing Kaleyra Video API, we were able to embed video directly into our application with much less effort. This allowed us to keep the entire user journey within our platform, which improved the overall experience and reduced friction for end users. We can now manage video sessions, participants, and workflows more easily without having to maintain the underlying infrastructure ourselves. This has saved our engineering team considerable development and maintenance time, allowing them to focus more on core product features instead of video related backend work.
