BambooHR sets the standard for user experience with a clean, intuitive dashboard that employees can navigate with virtually zero training. Thanks to a fantastic employee self-service app, team members can instantly log hours, check the company directory, or request PTO right from their phones. It’s a win-win that keeps employees autonomous and saves HR teams from a mountain of routine questions.

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

BambooHR offers payroll, but it’s a separate paid add-on and is primarily optimized for US-based employees. While it handles standard HR reports well, pulling highly customized reports or more complex data analytics can feel restrictive.

**What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me manage timesheets in the proper order, track PTO, and handle requests more efficiently. It also makes it easy to see who on the team is out of the office and supports better time-off management overall. On top of that, it keeps documents in a single place, which makes them easier to find and manage.

What I like most about BambooHR is its focus on creating a simple and user-friendly HR experience. The platform is intuitive, easy to navigate, and helps streamline everyday HR tasks such as employee records, onboarding, leave management, and performance tracking. I also appreciate how BambooHR balances functionality with a clean interface, making it accessible for both HR teams and employees.

One area where BambooHR could improve is in advanced customization and reporting flexibility. While the platform is very user-friendly, some workflows and reports can feel limiting for organizations with more complex HR processes or detailed analytics needs. Integrations with certain third-party tools can also require additional setup depending on the company’s requirements.

Neat and intuitive UI, right emphasis on leaves, assessments and the experience is smooth and fast, so self service becomes easy and seamless. Serves the purpose and good with the manager view as well.

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

As a software can do a lot more in terms of managing other aspects of employees which is not HR oriented and more employee oriented - like hardware management, improved payroll management system which will be real use of the capabilities. The AI integration front needs investment.

Replaces traditional HR systems where lot of process used to be manual in earlier days, this one serves the purpose by centralized maintenance, easy reportee views, onboarding and offboarding made easy, time critical tasks highlighted right

**What do you like best about BambooHR?**

Clear navigation and well-organised tabs make it easy to access information. I also like the detailed sections, such as the goals area, which shows percentage completion. The holiday calendar is useful as well for tracking availability.

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

It logs me off fairly quickly when I’m not actively using it. I’d prefer a longer session timeout so I can stay signed in a bit longer without having to log back in.

**What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Goal completion notification dates are nudged via email, which helps me stay on top of deadlines. Performance analysis is also tracked, making it easier to follow role progress over time. It’s also a good source for checking my holiday balance, with helpful reminders to take holidays before year-end.

BambooHR has implemented options for automated responses, provided more flexibility in data fields, and integrated video meeting capabilities.  They are always working to make this tool more powerful and efficient.  

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

BambooHR has nothing to improve for my organization....we just need more dedicated time to take advantage of its options.  

**Recommendations to others considering BambooHR:**

Take time to set up so the system works for your organization, do some thinking first.

**What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HR data can be accessed real time, ending paper documents being filed and then needing to be accessed when there are questions.  The hiring tool has helped us reach a broader audience of applicants and streamlined the hiring process.  We are starting to use the onboarding tools that will save significant staff and new hire time.  Now all mass employee notifications can be sent via BambooHR announcements, assuring distribution and capturing the information for future reference - for HR staff and all employees.  Links to regularly used HR tools are now posted for all staff to access quickly.  Data reports have been pulled quickly to respond to special and regular requests.  The major benefits are SAVING STAFF TIME & simplifying access.

What I like best about BambooHR is how user-friendly and organized the platform is. I also appreciate how intuitive the interface is, because it allows both employees and management to navigate the system easily without needing extensive training. Overall, it helps streamline communication and keeps everything centralized in one place.

One thing I dislike about BambooHR is that some of the more advanced customization and reporting features can feel somewhat limited depending on the company’s specific needs. There are also certain integrations and features that may require additional add-ons or workarounds. While the platform is very clean and easy to use, there are moments where more flexibility and deeper functionality would be helpful for larger or more complex workflows.

BambooHR is solving the problem of having employee information, onboarding, time tracking, and HR processes spread across multiple systems or handled manually. By centralizing everything into one platform, it helps reduce administrative work, improves organization, and makes it easier to manage employee records and requests efficiently.

For me, the biggest benefit is the time and communication it saves. Tasks like onboarding new employees, approving time-off requests, and accessing important employee information become much more streamlined and accessible. It also helps create a smoother experience for both management and employees by making processes more transparent and easier to navigate.

**What do you like best about BambooHR?**

So far, my experience with BambooHR has been very positive. Running payroll is quick and easy, and the platform sends helpful reminders so I don't miss important deadlines. I also like that it includes an approval workflow, which helps ensure payroll is reviewed and approved before processing.

The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, making it simple to find employee information and complete HR tasks. I also appreciate that employee records, payroll, and time-off information are all centralized in one place, which saves me time and makes day-to-day administration more efficient. Overall, BambooHR has streamlined many of our HR and payroll processes.


**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

One area for improvement would be reporting. While the standard reports are useful, having more flexibility to customize reports without needing workarounds would be helpful.

**What do you like best about BambooHR?**

Bamboo has many standard features I believe any good HR software should have, but is also evolving frequently to add new features. I have always loved the digital signature feature, the ability to request approval for information updates to an employee's file, and the really deep granular ability to customize employee access levels and even include multiple access levels to expand an employee's view depending on things like their department or position.

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

There are still some of the same limitations to Bamboo as I have seen in the past. There are places where the built-in filters like department cannot be used to send signature requests. It is also hard to have a system in place for successfully notifying other departments of a change to a profile the moment the change request is approved. More versatility in notifications and filter usage would be a big plus. Bamboo has also rolled out a restriction on what can be edited on a terminated employee's profile after 1 year past their termination and this has significantly weakened Bamboo's use for us, essentially removing a core feature we needed when we were sold the product.

Tracking time off accrual and usage. Processing Payroll twice a month. Insurance enrollment and its connection to Payroll. tracking employee global movements. Tracking employee history changes. Tracking employee position changes. Document storage for employee profiles. Document storage for all empoyees to see. Needing digital signatures. Assigning tasks to admins when onboarding/offboarding employees. Streamlining tasks that used to be empoyee reliant into automatic tasks performed by the system. Gathering reports on various employee details. Tracking employee populations.

I love that BambooHR is easy to use as an employer and an employee. They are constantly upgrading and adding new features for its users. I love that we can onboard and handle background checks and I-9 processing right in the same platform. I love that we can track payroll and onboard new employees in the same platform. I feel that the packages offered are priced decently and that we're really getting more bang for our buck. I love that they're integrating AI into their system to make it easier for us to get more tasks accomplished and become more efficient in our processes.

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

I don't think there's been a feature that BambooHR has come out with that I haven't enjoyed learning about or using.

BambooHR is currently helping us solve our efficiency and onboarding problems by offering more efficient and easy to use features to ensure we look great to outside customers looking in.

**What do you like best about BambooHR?**

We use BambooHR as our central HR platform for pretty much everything people-related. Day-to-day that means managing employee records, handling time-off requests and approvals, and running onboarding and offboarding workflows for new hires and departures. We also use it for performance reviews and tracking 1:1s with managers, and our employees use the self-service features to update their own info, check PTO balances, and access company documents. It’s essentially replaced a mix of spreadsheets and disconnected tools we were using before.

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

Reporting can feel limited unless you’re on a higher-tier plan, and the payroll module still feels a bit disconnected from the rest of the platform. Pricing is also frustrating — you have to request a quote just to get a number, which makes budgeting comparisons harder than it should be.

**What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It eliminated the spreadsheet chaos we had for employee records and time-off tracking. Everything’s in one place now, which saves hours of admin work each week and means fewer errors when it comes to payroll and compliance.

the interface plus having your day-to-day info right there at a glance. The birthday visibility, seeing who's out, and being able to check both your current PTO balance and project it forward are the kind of everyday things that make a tool feel effortless rather than something you have to fight with.

I do not like the constant sign-outs after inactivity

"How much time off do I actually have?" Instead of emailing HR or digging through a spreadsheet, your current PTO balance is right there. And because it projects future accrual, it solves the planning problem too — you can see whether you'll have enough banked for that trip in three months before you book anything.
"Is it worth asking for these days off, or is half the team already out?" Seeing who's off at a glance means you can plan your own requests around coverage, avoid scheduling a big push when key people are away, and not get blindsided by someone being unavailable.
"I had no idea it was their birthday." The birthday visibility quietly solves the awkwardness of missing colleagues' milestones — it makes it easy to acknowledge people without having to track it yourself.
"Where do I even find this?" The clean interface solves the friction problem that plagues a lot of HR software. When looking something up is fast and obvious, you actually use the tool instead of avoiding it, which means the info stays current and useful.
Beyond your day-to-day, it also solves problems more on the admin/org side that you may benefit from indirectly: centralizing employee records so information isn't scattered, automating PTO approval routing so requests don't stall in someone's inbox, and giving managers reporting they'd otherwise assemble by hand.

**What do you like best about BambooHR?**

I use BambooHR mostly for locking my holidays and keeping track of goals. I really appreciate how it helps me with assessments every six months, whether for myself, colleagues, or my manager. I find BambooHR very user-friendly, especially when compared to SAP; it's very clear and easy to navigate. I also like the functionality that allows me to see who is on holiday or not in the office, which is very useful. Additionally, I can easily view the profiles of new colleagues when they start at the company, which helps in managing my communication with the team. Overall, it's very user-friendly and easy to use, which I enjoy.

I don't have anything dislikes :))

BambooHR is generally easy to navigate and doesn't require much training to accomplish day to day tasks. The interface is clean, and it handles the core HR functions we need without adding unnecessary complexity. It has helped centralize employee information and made routine administrative tasks more straightforward

Some workflows feel more rigid than they need to be, and customization options can be limited. Reporting is adequate for basic needs but can be difficult when looking for more specific insights. There are also a few areas where accomplishing simple tasks takes more clicks than expected.

It's great that all of my welcome information and onboarding is already in the product ready for me to access before I start my first week

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

The experience is unreliable and frustrating.  I've had to fill out my information multiple times on a single form sheet, because when I hit "Save and Continue" it freezes and nothing happens until it times out.

Once it times out, its somehow a worse user experience. It says "just to be safe, we logged you out, enter your password to pick up where you left off". But when you enter your password, you get an error saying you need to enter your password AND your username, however, there is no field for username, so the log back in experience is entirely broken.

**What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ideally, its making onboarding new employees easier. However, in practice that's not happening since the product keeps breaking.

We love the onboarding process, the personal information update process, and the ability to customize the program to suit us.

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

I really wish we could run payroll through Bamboo, but we cannot because we have two tax ID's and more than 50% of our employees work at both tax ID locations every week. We do not want to pay for two Bamboo accounts, so there isn't an option for us to use Bamboo's payroll.

**What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The hiring process has always been difficult to keep up with, so Bamboo's ability to store and organize all of the applicants and our notes about them has been a stress reliever and a time saver.

**What do you like best about BambooHR?**

It's really easy to navigate! Clean, functional, and makes HR tasks like requesting time off a breeze. I enjoy seeing the updates of new staff members coming onboard with the company, and the drop down company org chart is a nice and easy way to navigate who directly reports to whom within each team. That alone allows me to ask the right people the right questions instead of getting "passed up the chain".

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

Not really using online HR interfaces before, I don't know a whole lot about how Bamboo stacks up to other online HR platforms. I can't really speak to ROI for the platform, but to me it seems pretty good. The AI agent doesn't seem terribly useful though, as the suggestions that it prompts are all very easily findable on the home page.

**What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I really enjoy the annual leave calculator on the website, as all my previous jobs I have not had any HR software that can calculate these stats so quickly for me. In the past I would have had to manually calculate how much time off I approximately had by a specific date, or would have to look at each pay check of how much total I had to date.

**What do you like best about BambooHR?**

I like being able to look up teams and teammates connected on the org chart to see who I should reach out to in case my immediate supervisor is out, being able to check when someone is out of the office so I can plan workload and follow ups appropriately, and specifically being able to check all upcoming events like workiversaries and birthdays on the calendar. I can limit the circle to my small team or look up related teams we cooperate with, and schedule nice little congrats messages to brighten their day. It's gotta be my favorite feature.

I noticed BambooHR often takes a long time to load pages.

BambooHR makes it convenient to look up my official position title, connection with the rest of the Team and their contacts and schedule - it saves lots of time and effort.

**What do you like best about BambooHR?**

What I like best about BambooHR
 is that it balances simplicity with strong HR functionality. The platform feels very clean and intuitive, which makes it easier for both HR teams and employees to actually use without a huge learning curve. A lot of HR software can feel overwhelming, but BambooHR is known for having one of the better UI/UX experiences in the HRIS space.

From an integrations standpoint, it works well with many third-party tools and supports 150+ integrations plus an open API, which helps companies connect payroll, benefits, and other HR systems without rebuilding their entire workflow.

I enjoy the location services, and overall, it's a simple platform to use. I think the strongest part of BambooHR is the onboarding and hiring process. I like being able to cross-post and have everything show up under one dashboard, with form templates, emails, and the onboarding process all in one place once a candidate is selected. It's very valuable for us to sort through many applications quickly and get people in for interviews, especially since we're a small company without a large HR department.

Yeah. I find the paid time off options a little confusing, especially in how they represent different policies for different employee groups. I think that whole process could be smoother and more intuitive. I’d also like more clarity when it comes to tracking remaining PTO for employees on an accrual-based PTO structure. Right now there’s a bit of guesswork in knowing whether you can approve upcoming vacation time, since accrual can vary depending on the number of hours worked. I like that it it super-intuitive to use (I can usually figure out what I'm trying to do really quickly), it's web-based (not depended on on-prem infrastructure and performance), and it doesn't overwhelm the user with useless information (layout is simple). It's a very cost-effective solution for small-medium businesses and non-profits.

I do wish they had more sophisticated integrations (I work in IT, and there have been times where I wish it "talked" with our existing systems, primarily Microsoft 365/Entra ID to provide a more seamless experience on the backend; as is, it's effectively a standalone system apart from the rest of our infrastructure).

I’ll often think of a question to ask our implementation specialist, but I don’t even have to wait for a response because I can simply refer to the guides they provide and find the answer myself.

I honestly haven’t run into any issues with Bamboo so far. The only improvement that comes to mind is the onboarding process: it would be great if we could add a company history video directly there. Right now, it seems like you can include a link, but you can’t actually embed the video. That said, this is a minor point compared to the many other great things Bamboo has to offer.

I like BambooHR's very open and aesthetically pleasing interface. I like the way that it allows me to focus on items that are important, while also giving important information to me such as who is currently not in the office today and introducing new employees. It allows HR to post important notices and links to important issues. I also really enjoy the leave accrual calculator, which many other similar products are missing. When I first used it, the onboarding process was very streamlined and efficient, as well.

The main use of BambooHR for the end user is using it for leave, so the other advantages of it (information about other employees, and the directory) are useful, but there is some overlap with information you might receive from other channels (such as Teams or the like). I would probably enjoy more integrations to allow BambooHR to be a more central repository of information rather than a bunch of individual minor services. Otherwise, I have no major issues with the product.

I really appreciate being able to see all 315 employees at once, which is quite convenient. It's really nice to visualize the org chart and fill out forms quickly for my HR team. I like the ability to sign forms very quickly on BambooHR, which means I don't have to print them out. It's all in one place, and I can just press sign and move on with my day. The initial setup was very simple, making the transition smooth.

I find it a little bit confusing on where to actually find things. For example, in the file section, I can't always find every single file that I've ever signed. That's probably the biggest difficulty.

The core database is relatively stable for storing information once it’s actually in the system. The interface is basic but functional if you just need a simple digital filing cabinet for candidate records. The API integrations aren’t bad, and the day-off and vacation approval functions are useful as well.

The platform feels outdated because it completely lacks modern AI features for screening, matching, or summarizing profiles. The biggest dealbreaker for us is the sourcing process: there’s no native integration, proper extension, or parsing tool to pull candidate data directly from LinkedIn. When our team finds a great candidate on LinkedIn, every single piece of their information has to be copy-pasted and entered into the database manually. That’s a massive waste of time and it seriously hurts our hiring efficiency.

Right now, it only meets the basic need of having a centralized candidate database, but it also creates new problems because there’s so little automation. What I like most is how everything I need is visible the moment I log in. I usually just check the dashboard to see who's out, any pending time-off requests, and general team updates. At times, I feel like I have to click around more than expected to find certain details. The dashboard is clean, but not everything is directly accessible from there. Also, I wish there were a bit more flexibility in customizing what shows up on the main screen.

Easy to navigate, simple interface. I've never been unable to find something I'm looking for. I most often use the "time off" tab, and view the org chart. I have no complaints with either of those features.

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

The only thing that I find difficult is accessing the company calendar. Right now I have to navigate to "Who's Out" and then click on a small button at the bottom that says "Full Calendar." I check the calendar not just for seeing who's out but also to find company holidays. I wish there was a more intuitive way to access it.

**What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Both companies I've worked for have used BambooHR. I was actually glad to see my current company uses Bamboo when I joined! However, I can't say what I used to struggle with since I have never had to use another HR software. I also have to use Insperity to access my benefits, and I don't like Insperity as much as Bamboo. The UI feels more cluttered. They also make me change my password once a year, which I don't like.

I really like two key aspects of BambooHR: the streamlined interface and the intuitive way it lets me access what I need. Coming from multiple prior organizations that used Workday, I never feel lost in BambooHR or unsure about where to go or what to click. Everything I need is right in front of me when I log in; it isn’t cluttered or overwhelming, and it feels snappy to use. I can get everything done in seconds to minutes.

**What do you dislike about BambooHR?**

BambooHR needs theme support so I can set up a dark mode for my view. I find the default theme too bright for my eyes, and being able to choose between a couple of different colour palettes would be lovely. Secondly I would like my vacation/sick/out-of-office to automatically populate into my Outlook calendar.

Everything about my own HR needs and my team. I can immediately see what is happening in my organization and team, plus get access to quick links, holidays, and time off. If I need more info it's ready under my profile and pay, benefits, docs, etc are all one click away. Secondly the integration with outlook pre-books any interviews we are doing.

How customizable it is! We switched to Mosaic awhile back and we are so happy to be switching back to Bamboo!!! Mosaic did not allow much customization and was very complicated to use, while Bamboo is not complicated at all and allows for so much customization, especially compared to Mosaic

The only thing I don't like about Bamboo is that it does not have a scheduler/time card functionality, so we have to use it + Deputy for schedules and time cards. If they had those additions as well, it would be damn near perfect!

A drawback for me is that the payroll feature is limited to the U.S. The platform is not adaptable to other countries. It would be great that you would be able to use the payroll feature and customize taxes, social security etc. to fit the country.

The main problem BambooHR solves for me is the inefficiency that comes with managing HR processes manually. BambooHR centralizes all employee data in one platform, which reduces errors and saves time because information only needs to be entered once and can be accessed easily when needed.

It also solves the problem of administrative overload in HR. Tasks like tracking leave, managing onboarding paperwork and updating employee records can take up a lot of time if done manually. With automation and employee self-service features, staff can update their own information and submit leave requests, which reduces the number of routine tasks HR has to handle directly.
