I can quickly see who's on vacation, track upcoming work anniversaries, and understand the company structure at a glance. That makes planning around availability much easier and helps me stay connected to my colleagues. The workflows are a real strength. They keep our processes organized and consistent so nothing slips through the cracks, and the centralized information storage keeps everything I need in one reliable place. It's also genuinely easy to use and makes collaborating with teammates simple, with very little learning curve. I also appreciate the wide range of integrations available. Having so many options makes it easier to fit BambooHR into our existing toolset. Performance is generally fine, but we do run into occasional problems that interrupt the experience. Support is another mixed point: the team responds quickly, which I appreciate, but they haven't always been able to actually resolve the issues we bring to them. I'm not in a position to speak to pricing or overall value for money, since that side of the account isn't visible to me in my day-to-day role. I'd encourage anyone evaluating BambooHR to request a detailed quote and confirm exactly what's included in each tier, since my view of the platform is purely from a hands-on user perspective rather than a budget or procurement one. I also haven't used any of BambooHR's AI features yet, so I can't speak to how well they perform or how much value they add. This is an area I'm interested in exploring, but for now I have no first-hand experience to share, and I'd rather be upfront about that than overstate what I know. **What do you dislike about BambooHR?** The most frustrating thing for me is how the chain of approvers works. Some requests need sign-off from multiple people — for example, a vacation request that requires approval from two managers. The problem is the follow-through: the first manager approves, but the second one forgets, and the request just stalls. Reminders go out to both approvers instead of only the person who still needs to act, which adds noise and makes it easy to ignore them. When we've raised this with support, they haven't been able to help, so we're left managing the gaps manually. Design and UI issues are another sore point, and they bother me more than they might in other tools. BambooHR is fundamentally a product about visualizing a company's information — org structure, time off, people data — so the interface is the product in a very real sense. When there are flaws or rough edges in the UI/UX, it undercuts the whole value proposition. For a platform built around clear presentation of information, the experience needs to be polished and flow-free, and that bar isn't always met. Beyond that, performance is generally fine but not flawless. We hit occasional slowdowns or hiccups that interrupt the workflow at inconvenient moments — not constantly, but often enough to notice. Support is a mixed experience too: the team responds quickly, which I appreciate, but fast replies haven't always led to actual fixes. I'd rather have a slightly slower response that resolves the issue than a quick one that leaves it open. **What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?** BambooHR solves the day-to-day challenge of managing team time off and key dates in one place. Instead of tracking vacations through scattered spreadsheets or informal messages, I have a single source of truth for who's away, when, and for how long. That makes it much easier to plan around availability, avoid scheduling conflicts, and make sure the team always has adequate coverage. It also helps with keeping track of important dates — things like work anniversaries and other milestones — so they don't slip past unnoticed. On top of that, the allocation statistics and reporting give me visibility into how time and resources are distributed across the team, which supports better planning and more informed decisions. The main benefit is time saved and reduced friction. Information that used to be hard to pull together is now centralized and easy to access, which keeps the team aligned and lets me spend less time chasing details and more time acting on them. ### 2. The biggest dealbreaker for us is the sourcing process: there’s no native integration, proper extension, or parsing tool to pull candidate data directly from LinkedIn. When our team finds a great candidate on LinkedIn, every single piece of their information has to be copy-pasted and entered into the database manually. I’d like to be able to build custom dashboards within the ATS. Right now, if I want to pull a report for job openings, I have to select each opening individually. I want the option to view and report on all openings at once instead of going one by one. Additionally, I can only pull those reports for open jobs, not for jobs that are in draft, closed, or filled status. I’d also like to have more standard, BambooHR-created ATS reports available than what’s currently accessible. We’re heavily considering switching to another ATS/HRIS, so this is very important to us. I’d also like custom widgets/dashboards for headcount and attrition. At the moment it shows all employees together, and I want to be able to separate the data by hourly versus salary. I would like to have a dedicated contact person from BambooHR, i don't think we have ever spoken to the same person twice which can be frustrating. I would also like BambooHR to do an audit of our account to see if we are utilizing the software to its full potential with everything built out. I think that the overall price is reasonable. If we decide to stay with BambooHR i suspect we would upgrade to the Pro package so I would want time to consider if that is worth it. It does not currently integrate with Employee Navigator, that would be a helpful integration going forward. I would love for the ATS to utilize an AI agent to assist me in screening resumes and presenting me with helpful information with my search. i would also like to ask AI to find me a candidate with "XXX skills" from the database. And it logs out every hour. That's at least painful logins per day. - I am forced to use AM and PM (I am not American, please keep in mind that there are other people than Americans who don't use AM and PM) - I want to clock in and clock out in the Smartphone App. - Overtime is only calculated weekly. I wish it would be automatic in real-time or at least daily. There seems to be a person in HR/Finance doing this by hand every Monday. - I can see how many holidays I have scheduled. I would rather see how many holidays I have not yet scheduled. - An additional button for breaks would be nice. At the moment, you can only clock in and clock out. A break button would be nice. So you could differentiate between the start/end of the day and the start/end of a break. Admins do not have control over the product, making it impossible to customize these additional features. For engagement, there is no customization at all—you must use the exact format and questions provided. We purchased BambooHR as a core HR product to cover all our HR needs. However, we have had to buy an additional ATS, an engagement and pulse survey tool, and a performance management tool. If you are a large company using BambooHR solely for employee documentation, that part is very useful. However, if you are a small or mid-sized company looking for a tool to meet various needs, BambooHR is not a good fit and is too expensive for the features it provides. **What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?** Talent documentation - we were using spreadsheets before. If you have a high priority/high impact issue, you don't have a point of contact other than general support. -BambooHR has made changes to their API settings without notice or communications on multiple occasions, causing our integrations to break without warning -Limited filters on standard reports -No custom dashboard reporting for execs Bamboo isn't made for larger organizations with more robust business processes. It's purposefully simplistic and doesn't allow much customization in regards to reporting, approval chains, delegations, task reassignments, performance reviews, etc. It's a great starter platform but for growing organizations, it might be easier to pick a platform that you can grow into. **What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've provided feedback in the past to Support & the feature request form. We have a lot of functionality gaps in the product at this time, and we would love to see improvement in upcoming product releases. ### 17. The need to reach out to support to create things like tables is a pain and time consuming. There are so many issues with reports not accurately capturing data. The implementation should be a little more detailed. and we should be able to communicate with customer support through chat. more integration with different communication platforms. As a new user it is very easy to pick up how to use the system, particuarly as an employee (vs. admin or analyst). This system would suit companies that are small or only require very basic functionality well. **What do you dislike about BambooHR?** Lack of more advanced functionality. Some reports are rigid (time of reporting as an example) and lack customisability. Similary you can't do basic things such as set up a drop down for "subbookings" for time off leave types meaning we're unable to report on what is driving absence. You also can't have relationships between fields, for example if you select a Division within job information, you aren't limited to select only departments that fall within that division. This means we have to do a number of data quality checks outside of the system. **What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?** Basic employee data management Basic employee management, e.g holiday and leave booking, onboarding etc. ### 24. The interface is easy to navigate. **What do you dislike about BambooHR?** The approval process for reviews is terrible! HR should able to audit and approve reviews, as well as more than one person in management chain. Also, managers cannot see an employee's self evaluation until the manager has written and submitted the employee's review. I've never had this in any tool I've used for reviews in my 20 plus years of HR. Our managers complain about this every year, and we hate it This feature is why we will be looking for a new system next year. **What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?** The reports are fairly easy to use. It does house our employee data. The folder sections are nice for storing electronic documents. ### 25. We will pass your concerns/suggestions/requests on to our development team/managers/round file." The software frequently fails, especially in communicating with the connected TRAXPayroll system. If there is an issue they usually can't diagnose the problem once the program is made it, it seems they can only fix a problem before you know there is a problem. Because their response is, well if payroll hadn't been submitted yet we could see what is going wrong. The way things are set up is logical and seems as if it's easy to use. **What do you dislike about BambooHR?** A couple things: We were promised that BambooHR would have it's own E-Signature capabilities by the end of May. This program has yet to roll out and it's the primary reason our company chose Bamboo to begin with. We have signed up with another company that has compatibility with Bamboo, but it would be really nice to cut out the middle-man and not have to use two different sites when trying to do something so simple. Especially since this is one of the MAIN REASONS we signed with Bamboo. So right now it's just working as a storage site for us until we can get access to that e-Signature capability. Another thing is that we have not yet rolled this out to our employees/contractors because it's not at the place where we need it to be. I am keeping up records on there for the company, and recently learned that the supervisors in remote offices are getting BambooHR emails when I thought all of the permissions for them were turned off. That was a little bit confusing to me. The third thing is that you can't change the names of the tabs at the top to reflect your own business. So Bamboo is showing everyone as "Employees" when our company deals primarily with Contractors. It would be really great if someone could write a simple code to change that accessibility and make it more useable. I wish we had known this before signing on with Bamboo. **What problems is BambooHR solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are trying to make it easier to access our contracts and employee information and to have it all in one place.
