**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq is very light-weight and has great aesthetics. It is simple to use, especially for those who aren't full designers. I was a developer, but when I had to work on some UI, I would use Balsamiq

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Sometimes the minimal aesthetics is going overboard. I want more features

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

It's pretty good for a large company to use

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used it for UI development. It is beneficial when you want to do some quick wireframing

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

It is a helpful wireframing tool work while working our project and it helps to show project from different aspects

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

It is kind of pricey. So not every designer has a chance to prefer this tool

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are some debugs needs to repaired

  ### 3. Great for quick mockups

This app absolutely speeds up the process of communicating ideas in form of wireframes.

Communicating ideas in record time to business teams.

  ### 4. Balsamiq - Wireframing Made Easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

The interactive elements available to simulate clicking on a link.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I wish their was a way to group some controls together on a 'panel'. Make it easier to move groups of elements around

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

If you need to create a wireframe quickly and output to usable formats, Balsamiq is the way to go.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to give our customers an idea of how the online form will look like. We used to have to prototype a form together on a sandbox to give users an 'idea' of how the form functions. Balsamiq has helped us to have these conversations without adding more time building something we may never use.

  ### 5. Excellent tool for visually figuring out workflow

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I love the prebuilt components. It saves so much time if I don't have to start from scratch every time.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I would like there to be an easier way to share components between users. I would love a "marketplace".

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I often need to quickly work through a users workflow and then convey that to engineers. It is really true that a picture is worth a thousand words.

  ### 9. Great tool for quick concepts/wireframes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nate S. | Marketing Director. Solution Architect. VP of Brandworkz Delivery for North America, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq is a great wireframing tool that's easy for anyone to use. It has basic features like drag & drop, click to edit, and a library of UI elements that you can instantly search and add to your screen which saves a lot of time and helps create concepts quickly. Balsamiq also lets you hyperlink elements to other screens you create, thus allowing you to create clickable prototypes of your wireframes.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

The out of the box icon and UI library they offer could use an update to keep up with a lot of the new UI that's being used in the market. The commenting and collaborating functions could use some improvements as well. The desktop app and web app could also use some improvements in sharing mockups from one to the other.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

Balsamiq offers a desktop app and a web app. Each has a free 30-day trial, and after that you'll need to purchase a subscription or desktop license. It's worth giving it a trial to see if it will work for you. If you need a tool for creating basic wireframe concepts, it's great. It's also worth comparing it to other wireframe tools on the market to see of others may better meet your UI element needs or pricing needs. There is usually a small learning curve to get used to the nuances of different tools, so personal preference for the UI of a wireframe tool may come into play for you.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anytime we are designing or building new web pages, software, mobile apps, etc the first thing we always do is sketch out the requirements into black & white Balsamiq wireframe concepts to keep the focus on functionality and not design. Once we're sure we have the right functionality in place, then we move into design. Balsamiq helps keep us (and our clients) focused on the important details in the early stages of new product designs and not worrying about things like colors when we should be worried about what the purpose of each screen is and what it actually does.

**Official Response from Support at Balsamiq:**

> Hi Nate and thanks for your detailed review! :)

Just wanted to point out that we recently launched our new web version, Balsamiq Cloud, that introduces our new native editor, great collaboration features and supports our BMPR file format (easier to move files from the Desktop version).

  ### 10. I love Balsamiq and it's company

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I love Balsamiq for beginners whoa re trying to create wireframes and simple sketches. It's usually best for people that have messy handwriting - so it helps a lot. I love the team and easy to use templates they have created. Easy ux/ui and overall great experience using it.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

There is nothing I really dislike about Balsamiq. It makes sense that it is a tool used for wireframing and it does not need as much resources as other wireframing tools.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Balsamiq I use it before going into prototyping and creating high-fidelity designs.

  ### 11. Great minimalistic and hand-drawn style

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I love the hand-drawn look to mockups created with Balsamiq.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

There are a lot of other software that can perform similarly to Balsamiq.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

I would recommend checking it out to see if it's for you or not.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I mainly use it for wire-framing very rough ideas.

  ### 12. Needs improvement

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I like that we can use balsamiq to help beginner designers create products.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I feel like balsamiq is over simplistic and could be updated.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

I recommend it for basic prototyping only.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pre prototype design for phone applications, they allow us to visualize what we want the app to look like.

  ### 13. Cannot get easier than drag 'n drop

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sky H. | Partnership Engagement Associate, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2017

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I like the search function and categorization which make it easy for me to location the graphics I am looking for. This also helps me easily access commonly used graphics like the browser window or phone screens from the top bar section so that I carry out as few actions as necessary. This really speeds up the entire process of creating wireframes!

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

To resize some of the graphics you have to use a sliding scale from small to extra large. I would prefer more customization there so that the wireframes I am creating are as close to the end result as I can get them. Some of the icons alow you to drag a corner to custom resize, and it would be great if all of the graphics had this same resizing option.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

This tool doesn't take much time to onboard so you can pretty much toss it into the hands of anyone, however it is not a great tool for collaborative versioning. You have to save working files and share them back and forth elsewhere. Best for teams that are in the same office or can work collaborative

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability for non-technical team members (myself) to be able to communicate ideas to technical team members and clients. There are other wireframe creation tools on the market, but the drag and drop ease of use of Balsamiq make putting it into the hands of anyone on the project team possible.

**Official Response from Support at Balsamiq:**

> Thanks for your review, Skyler!

It sounds like collaboration is a big part of your workflow so we thought you may want to try our new web product: Balsamiq Cloud. It features real-time collaboration, comments (with callouts) and chat among other new features.

  ### 14. Great Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

This tool does a great job of allowing you to do your work when an assignment is needed quickly. It keeps your project low fidelity for quick presentation purposes or deliverables that are needed for short term projects for use.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

The collaboration setttings on this software could be a little better. Sometimes it is difficult to get real time feedback or share files in an easy and effective way. It would be nice if you could have real time feedback with colleagues.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick prototypes and low fidelity wireframing purposes.

  ### 15. Great Prototyping/Wireframing App

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe H. | Senior Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I like how quickly you can get a mockup completed - great for visualizing designs after a brainstorm session. Easy to use, drag & drop, supports data entry and clickable areas to chain pages together. Great design tool at a very reasonable price!

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Some of the data entry in the grids/spreadsheets can be a bit clunky, but there's not much I don't like about this product.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

There are many lower-cost/free (online) options out there, but this is the one I feel does the best job -- certainly for the price.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting from requirements to mockups can be a time consuming task, but this software allows you to shorten that timeframe with it's simple UI. Getting the wireframe designs in front of the stakeholder quickly allows you to close the design loop in a shorter timeframe - design iterations can be completed muck quicker. The main benefits are time savings and timely user feedback on the design.

  ### 16. just too basic

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

How easy it was to learn, but that was about it.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Way too basic, it doesn't need to look like a drawing and the font is awful. Too much like comic sans. I wasn't impressed with the final wireframes and switched to a different solution.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We didn't really solve anything or continue to use the product.

  ### 17. Fast, easy, cheap wireframing for lean product teams and ux designers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Curtis G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq is a lightweight solution for wireframing products, websites, and apps. It requires very little training to begin using. If you are familiar with other design, prototyping, or wireframing software you'll pick it up quickly. It has some built in features like commonly used libraries (buttons, copy elements, forms, ios screens, icons, even has fontawesome integrated) to help speed up your workflow and kick out some low fidelity wireframes fast. Balsamiq has options for a sketch mode that styles your graphics to look more like drawings for when you need really low fidelity, or wireframe mode which is a little more polished with solid shapes and edges and fonts. Default is a monotone greyscale look to your designs but you can add colors and elements to make them pop moer. You can also create click through prototypes of your various screens and export to PDF for sharing. Plus you can purchase a web/cloud version or install a standalone version on your computer.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

There aren't a lot of export options or ways to integrate to other tools in the design process such as Sketch, Invision, Adobe XD, etc. to take your low fidelity wireframes right from Balsamiq into the next phase of your workflow. Also, the web/cloud version seems overpriced. Charging per project instead of user. Considering how minimal the feature set, I would expect it to be less. If you are on smaller teams, opt for the standalone version instead.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

They have a lot of info on their website about the features and how to use it plus helpful videos. It doesn't take long so do a little research. Also look up other similar wireframing tools and compare features for what you need. Lastly, they offer a free trial and you can easily learn all of the features in that amount of time to make your final decision.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team needs to be nimble and iterate on ideas, prototypes, and design flows quickly. Balsamiq is an affordable solution to do this.

Benefits:
Fast, cheap, and almost anyone can use this with minimal software education.

  ### 18. How to design for programmers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

The drag a drop feature allow you to add images that look like the new interfaces you are building

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

it does not have a friendly print button

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

Iit is a great product to make your business

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating a idea of the result of the development

  ### 19. A great way of quickly presenting your ideas

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick H. | Office Manager and Pre-Sales Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsmiq is simply a quick way of drawing out your idea and is easy to pickup and put down. When you launch Balsmiq, your previous "Mockups" are ready and waiting.

Its great for mapping out a system diagram, but excellent for application/web development. Each item you add to the page has a "Link" function will allows you to link this to another mockup. This means that you can mockup a website then when you preview it, all of the links work and take you to other pages. The beauty of it is that you do not have to be a web developer great a mockup. We find it very useful to plan our ideas and then hand our mockups over for them to develop.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

It can be a little particular here and there. Adding an image or a block of text to the mockup can be a tad confusing as its not entirely obvious from the icons that it is what you want.

Also when you put it in full screen, it really means full screen. So add a little bit of padding around your image if you want to be able to see everything.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

If you have the time and already have Powerpoint installed and licensed, have a play with its storyboarding functionality. If it doesn't do the trick, definitely check out Balsamiq.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wireframing of our systems and mockups of our websites. The key benefit is that it makes is much easier to collaborate on your projects.

  ### 20. This is a great product for doing quick mockups

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David B. | Web Developer/Analyst/Team Lead, Telecommunications, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

It's very intuitive and easy to use. Groups of controls can be selected and easily aligned.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Not much to dislike about this product. Maybe you could say there are too many options and choices.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows the developer the ability to design the UI and get approvals from the designer without wasting the time of actually coding it.

  ### 21. Visually understand your application using balsamiq

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

One of the best prototype tools, sketches, storyboard, which can representing the skeleton of the interface.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Require to introduce browsers plugin with advance features

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using UI library gets more control over UI

  ### 22. Decent application for wireframes

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ramona E. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

It is easy to use and set up, creating alternative wireframes is a neat feature and it supports exporting to all commonly used formats. It has many basic shapes and images out of the box.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

The style is sometimes too cartoony for my taste. It would be nice to add functionality for creating own shapes and/or templates.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

Do not try to create perfect wireframes using Balsamiq. Use it only to draft and try out different interfaces and designs.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this to quickly create wireframes for designing my projects. It helps me to quickly get a feel about how the interface should look, work and function.

**Official Response from Support at Balsamiq:**

> Hi Ramona and thanks for sharing your thoughts about our little tool! :)

Just wanted to point out that you can change the style/skin to a more polished look from the Project Info panel if needed: https://docs.balsamiq.com/cloud/overview/#the-project-info-panel

Also, the Symbols feature will help you create your own templates or custom components, as detailed here: https://docs.balsamiq.com/cloud/symbols/

Hope this helps! Any questions, we're here (support@balsamiq.com).

  ### 23. Simple but good

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph I. | UX Designer, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I like the already made symbols the best and the ability to create your own symbols. I create my own symbols for every project and they are very easy to update.

When exporting, using the Export to PDF setting is one of the most useful features for myself. This is my primary why of exporting my low fidelity wireframes.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I dislike how simple it is but that is also something I like. I am not able to over design a wireframe in the program but in a way that helps me because a wireframe should not be over-designed.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

This is a very simple program but can be very powerful if used correctly.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to create low fidelity wireframes for clients.

  ### 24. Great for rapid prototyping

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

All the no-frills functionality needed for lo-fi rapid prototype, easily navigable user interface.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Some additional options to create a sleeker, final prototype look would be more helpful.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick way to get ideas on paper and quickly prototype concepts for discussion and review.

  ### 25. Great Prototyping

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Linda P. | Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I really like how quickly you can get a mockup completed - great for visualizing designs after a write down ideas session. Simple to use, drag & drop, supports data access and clickable areas to chain pages together. Fantastic design tool at a very reasonable price!

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I actually don't like that you cannot edit the predetermined icons. As far as I am aware, its not possible to even change their angles. Also, the opacity is already predefined, you can choose only about 4 or 5 declares of opacity, as opposed to a percentage.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

This can be a very simple program nevertheless can be extremely powerful if applied correctly.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to be able to become trained and educated more in user design, ability, and creating prototypes that helped to increase my knowledge in IT.

  ### 26. myBalsamiq Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madison H. | Emerging Leader - Merchandising, Retail, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I like how easy it is to visually create a prototype for web or mobile development. I like how you can connect multiple screens/slides to show how someone could move through your product. It challenges you to think how applicable your design would be in real life and allows for others to test it and give real time feedback. I like the ability to share your projects with others and leave constructive notes on projects to help guide a user or to give feedback.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

It took me a little while to figure out how exactly to connect everything for my prototype to actually come to life. Also, I would sometimes have to change my original design in order for it to fit what balsamiq had already loaded into the system, which became frustrating when I wanted a more unique design.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to become trained and educated more in user design, ability, and creating prototypes that helped to extend my knowledge in IT.

  ### 27. Easy to get started

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin P. | Founder, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

It is amazing how quickly you can create a mockup.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq can't be used as a basic drawing application. While it is not it's intended feature there are some things I would like to quickly add to a mockup that have to be done externally.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

If you are considering Balsamiq just give it a try. It is very easy to jump into, and offers a free trial.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Conveying layout designs to other developers. Balsamiq also lets us get user feedback to help us determine an intuitive layout in advance.

  ### 28. Easy to use but a little childish

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq is a blast to use. I can crank out mockups, plain and pretty intricate, in absolutely no time. It is my daily mockup application even for taking whitebiard ideas and quickly making them interactive and easily shareable.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I find the comic sans-y typeface a hige turnoff. It looks childish compared to making a similar mockup in other applications which could be an issue with C level position presentations.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly creating mockups to bring development team ideas to life to present and receive feedback from sales team, consultants, and product owners. It is quick to receive feedback and then reiterate and get more.

  ### 29. Easy to use mockup tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stefan D. | Senior Consultant Mobile, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq is very easy to use and gives me the opportunity to visualize ideas in a fast way.
I like the pre installed UI libraries especially for mobile UI and the hand drawing look in general.
If I only need to mock the first screens to get feedback it's my #1 tool.
Also the export options (PNG, PDF, JSON) are totally enough for my needs.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

There is not much. The software update process could be better.
Sometimes I wish it would be possible to add a little interaction to the wireframes.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

Start with the trail version and if your fine with Balsamiq buy it.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick visualizing of different ideas to discuss these with team members and / or clients.
The low fidelity Mockups help people to focus on the UX without starting to discuss colors e.g.

  ### 30. Intuitive and simple mockup creator

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Álvaro C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Excellent application for creating our mockups, both web and mobile, in a very intuitive way and with a design that is very pleasing to the eye.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

It is accused of a lack of variety in terms of prefabricated designs as well as different styles. It can be too basic.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At the beginning, we made some of our basic mockups when we were defining the idea for our website.

  ### 31. Excellent User Interface Modeling Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I love that you can create click-through pdfs to model designs. It becomes extremely useful for creating blueprints at the early stages of web design.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I wish that the graphics were more aesthetic because it can be difficult to look past the older style objects.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

User interface web/CRM design.

  ### 32. A great low-fidelity mock up/prototyping software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maritza L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq makes wireframing and prototyping very fast and easy. You have a lot of pre-defined assets such as buttons, icons, titles, text, labels, placeholder items etc. that you can drag and drop, letting you finish an idea for a landing page or app quite quickly.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I don't like that you cannot edit the predefined icons. As far as I know, its not possible to even change their angles. Also, the opacity is already predefined, you can choose only about 4 or 5 states of opacity, instead of a percentage.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

This is a great and easy tool for everybody. It mostly would be used for the early stages of mockups for an app or website and can be used by designers, marketers, or even developers to generate a quick wireframe idea, and helps you understand the user flow too.

It also works great to create low fidelity prototypes to make usability tests, so you can testyour design to make sure the users understand the flow you have in mind, and make quick adjustments, that would be very tedious to do if you were working with high-fidelity prototypes.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being a UI/UX designer, this works great for receiving feedback for the idea of a design both by the final users, but for the client too. The benefits: being able to create mockups very quickly and edit them easily. This works for website designs and for apps too. Being able to make usability tests very efficiently.

  ### 33. Balsamiq is a great tool for team prototyping - Especially for mobile and web

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason P. | President, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

We use the myBalsamic cloud prototyping tool early in the design and requirements gathering process to validate and demo web page layout, page components, and key interactive elements with the client. What we like about Balsamic is that it has a "hand-drawn" style that allows clients to focus more on the location of components and how things work as opposed to the design of the site. In addition, we use Balsamic early in the process because revisions are easier and faster for us and it allows us to iterate faster.

Key things we like:

* Fast prototyping with quick iterations
* Cloud based so its easy to share with team and clients
* Hand-drawn style keeps clients focus on layout and not design
* Versioning of designs
* Comments on each prototype
* Low cost

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

MyBalsamiq requires Flash to use in the browser. In addition, it doesn't have a way to link mock-ups and make them interactive when you click on them. We have to use an external too, Marvel to make that happen. Also, it would be nice to be able to mark-up the designs with comments and arrows. The comment function is nice, but a more visual approach would help.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

Sign up for a cloud trial account and see if you like it. There is also a free desktop version you can try.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MyBalsamiq allows us to get faster, less risky approvals from clients on early designs. It allows us to iterate through prototypes fast. It allows non-designers to create prototypes.

Overall, Balsamiq has helped our design process be more controlled and less risky from a budget and time standpoint. This results in happier customers and better relationships.

**Official Response from Support at Balsamiq:**

> Hi Jason!

Good news, we recently launched our new web product, Balsamiq Cloud, that introduces our new native editor (no more Flash) and many new features. Details on this page: https://blog.balsamiq.com/balsamiq-cloud/

Our little tool has low interactivity on purpose but the Linking feature might help you to demonstrate click-through prototypes (this option is also available in myBalsamiq): https://docs.balsamiq.com/cloud/linking/

About comments: Balsamiq Cloud also introduces a new way of commenting wireframes: https://docs.balsamiq.com/cloud/sharing/#reviewing-and-commenting

Hope this helps!

  ### 34. Easy wireframing tool for rapid prototyping

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Basic wireframing tool with a sketchy look. Good for rapid prototyping

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Lack of customizable features, laggy on the cloud.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rapid wireframing

  ### 35. Easy for Beginners - Becomes Outdated Fast

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

As a new product manager this was a great tool to start wrapping my head around basic wireframing needs without getting bogged down in the details.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq quickly became out of date. After using it just 3x or so I found the features to be lacking and my need for more detail and flexibility in my wireframing to be unmet.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to build basic wireframes for my ideas, workflows and basic wireframes for a product without getting bogged down on the details or actual *design*of it. It's a simple way to put words into VISUALS as visuals grasp easier with people and facilitate helpful conversations.

  ### 36. Essential tool for rapid prototyping and quick sketchy wireframe

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pankaj K. | Founder, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq is very easy to use tool for the early stage wireframing tool which can help any rapid prototyper or design thinker. This tool allows user to put there thinking fast sketchy wireframe way. I like the idea of the placeholder and lot of icon inventory which helps with the quick thinking.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Should have the ability to host and ability to capture the feedback from the user. This functionality can help the users in a big way in the early stage of discussions. The way invision does this specifically implementing the similar thing can do wonders for the users.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

Anybody who wants to create a scribble type wireframe should use this tool which can help them in early stage thinking and if you don't want to waste type on the expensive prototyping tool. This is a great way to start. This can speed up your thinking

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

early stage thinking, rapid prototyping

**Official Response from Support at Balsamiq:**

> Hi Pankaj and thanks for sharing your thoughts about our tool!

Since collecting feedback seems to be important in your workflow, you may want to try out Balsamiq Cloud (https://balsamiq.cloud), our new web version, where we've added great ways to collect it. More details here: https://docs.balsamiq.com/cloud/sharing/

  ### 37. Easy to Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I have really enjoyed working with Balsamiq. I needed to design an add-on tool to an ERP system. I had to determine the functionality and the look-and-feel of the add-on. I had no trouble figuring out how to use all of the features in Balsamiq and enjoyed opening it to create or update my mock-ups.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I honestly can say that there wasn't anything that I disliked about it. Again, it is easy to use. And if I didn't know how to do something, I could easily find information in the help area or with the tutorials on the website.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a low cost, easy to use product so I could design functionality that is not in the ERP that the university is implementing. The mock-ups helped the project leadership and developers to understand what we needed the functionality to do and gave them something to use when they are creating the interface.

  ### 38. Very easy and powerful tool for creating mockups

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Very easy to use. Can create solid mockups and wireframes. Wide range of drag and drop components.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

As of now dint find any negative points.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To make mock up and wireframes for small UI projects to showcase it to potential clients

  ### 39. Ideal for explaining and visualizing ideas

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucas B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2017

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq is by far one of my favorite applications. It’s an easy tool for visualizing an idea for a site or app. A visualization improves collaboration. It stimulates new ideas and brings up questions about feasibility. But above all, there is less misunderstanding about your idea or vision. In text or during discussions it is easy to talk alongside each other, hearing or reading what you want to hear. An image shows more clear what you mean with your idea…and what it does not mean.

Therefore I use Balsamiq not only for wireframing, but also sketching processes or business models. The visualization is sketchy enough to keep discussions in the idea-phase, instead of wasting time on to detailed discussion.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Although it not meant for sketching processes, it could be improved a bit for doing this (a bit more support for some more arrows or diagrams)

Sometimes a bit lost in different propositions. interesting only propositions, but the offline desktop version works faster for me (lot of coping attributes and screenshots into my sketches)

It's using flash or something like that in their offline version, it keeps asking for updates

Not the best solution for interactive prototypes (like axure) to test with customers, Its best for talking about ideas.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

Try both online and offline version

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- getting people on the same page
- prevent wasting valuable time in meetings on explaining ideas

  ### 40. Quick Wireframing that gets the job done

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Simple wireframes keep me from spending hours creating perfect mocks. This lets me quickly put something together for Proof of Concept

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

interface can be clunky - keyboard shortcuts don't work as well in the web app as they do in the desktop version

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

If you want to be able to quickly show a concept, with affordable software, then this is the route to go. There are more robust mockup tools, but they are expensive, and it's easy to get lost in the details when using them.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Needing to be able to quickly draw up a concept and then demo the concept to see if it meets stakeholder needs. The "sketch" mode lets me illustrate a concept (while also clearly showing that it is a mock and not a finish product) and review with a group.

  ### 41. Best tool for creating wiredrame

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

We are here in webuters technologies using this tool for creating different wire-frames for different projects. its very easy to use and we are able to quickly show you something out of his mind. As per Webuters technologies review, I would like to give 4.5 out of 5 to Balsamiq.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Web UI is not that much good. its sometimes very compact to use different feature of the app.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Create mobile and web app wireframes. We are using it for web applications, mobile applications for different industries.

  ### 42. Great for simple wire framing and pretty easy to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jake P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I like how simple it is and lets any body understand the dynamics of wireframing and simple design

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Sometimes pen and paper is the best way to do things. I dont like how it highlights everytime I click on something. Maybe create a feature to disable that.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

make it even easier like drawing in a notebook

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simple and fast wireframing and designs methods.

  ### 43. Balamiq has all the assets anyone could need for UX

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

It's incredibly user--friendly with hardly any time required to learn it

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

The objects themselves could use a design makeover. The style is a bit outdated.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

It's incredibly simple to use. I'm used to Adobe Suite and was able to learn this in no time. The interface is sort of in between MIcrosoft and Adobe, with the different page views on the left side like Powerpoint, but a great tool bar and the ability to easily move and transform objects - like in Adobe Illustrator. It's got all the necessary assets that are sufficient for any good UX Report. I began my downloading the free 30 day trial, and I recently heard that they are also integrating with google docs, so it's possible to purchase a web-based "cloud membership" for just $9 per month, and save all your files online.I will definitely do this in a few days when my trial runs out. The final output is very professional and an industry standard. One other great feature is that it auto-saves after each change, so you'll never have to worry about losing work. Also, it seamlessly converts to PDF. Great software.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UX Wireframing

  ### 44. Does one thing well but not necessary to use

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I like how it is very very fast and simple to wireframe and do very low fidelity mockups. The interface is pretty intuitive too.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I dislike the limited functionality. Can only wireframe and cant do mockups.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

It's nice for doing low fidelity mockups and prototyping but honestly even more advanced tools are just as intuitive to use as Balsamiq and they have more functionality and can do both low fidelity and high fidelity.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benefits is that it has a prototype feature that lets you easily link the screens and make it seem interactive.

  ### 45. <p>Clean and neat</p>

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Very easy to use and great features such as drag and drop. Plus, a library of UI elements makes it easier to design wireframes.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

The UI library should be kept up-to-date. Use industry standards like Material Design or Apple Design to help with app UI design.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

Balsamiq is a really good alternative for those who don't have Sketch and is clearly a leading industry standard for wireframe and UI design.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In building and designing apps that would help students with their curricular and extracurricular activities.

  ### 46. Quick and fastest Wireframe

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

It’s so easy to learn and create many wire frames. It’s easy to make edits on the fly. That was an issue with other softwares.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Honesty nothing. It’s perfect for what it is. If anything, yes it’s simple but it’s perfect.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

If you need a quick wireframe tool this is the one to go with. Very easy to learn, simple and efficient.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to get wire frames done quickly due to depends and project timelines.

  ### 47. Balsamiq Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Publishing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

The controls are fairly intuitive, the layout is simple and clean, and the concept is fun. It didn't take much time to come up with a solution for the design problems I had to solve.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

At the time is was kind of glitchy. It crashed every now and then, and it lagged. The pasteboard was also too small to fit all the screens I needed.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

Give it a shot! It's fun, easy, and simple.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a quick, easy way to neatly convey what you would otherwise scribble down on a piece of paper.

  ### 48. Simple and easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valentin B. | Game Developer, E-Learning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I like the style. This software allows creating mockups which look great.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Sometime I would like to have more icons and more game dev oriented containers/UI.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

This software allows quickly make mockups which you can use for meetings or as TD for designers/engineers and it doesn't look as "enterprise boring" TD at the same time.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Usually I make mockups for mobile games and applications. Rarely, website mockup.

  ### 49. Easy web sketches

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** MªCarmen S. | Encargada de Marketing Digital, Wholesale, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I like how easy it is to use and the ease of linking one sketch to another. It makes my life easier.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Although I love the icons it has, I would like there to be more.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves me a lot of time in the web development process.

  ### 50. Balsamiq is a great wire framing tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Love the ease of use, that it is very simple to get a mockup of a UI done.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Nothing really, the tool is really good at what it does.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

A great tool for software developers or web developers. Very easy to import a screenshot and make modifications or just simply start from scratch. You can literally have a very nice mockup ready in minutes even with a from scratch method.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using this tool to create web UI mockups.
