Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Quick ,Lightweight and easy used application which can be used to flash sd card as well as USB drive too.You can never go wrong with this its UI is too familiar and easy and it validate data after writing into respective destinations. there is not even a once that I have failed with balena etcher .My add sd card and USB writing has gone smooth ad knife goes in butter Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
there is not which particularly I hate about balena etcher but yes there is one thing which becomes quite irritating sometimes ia regular and frequent updates which can be annoying sometime Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you're an Ubuntu user and want to create bootable USB drive without using complex utility such as GParted, this tool is for you, Balena Etcher is perfect and simple: you can burn any ISO on your preferred usb drive by simply dragging and dropping iso file into Etcher GUI Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It does not support legacy ISO file of Windows XP, Thin Client and Server 2003, maybe for an unsupported filesystem auto-written by BalenaEtcher after iso autodetection process Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With Balena Etcher you can easily create custom USB media with bootable live OS and OS installation, you don't have to set hard-to-understand options and the created drive will work 99.99% of times due to auto-detection of OS contained in the ISO image you want to burn in the usb media Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some advanced options such as writing speed, Read and write protection, multi OS ISO in a single media could be useful for advanced users which want to use Balena instead of old unsupported and buggy tools or command line utilities Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You can easily burn iso images (such as windows on linux installation images) into your usb media to run it from boot options selected as selected in the BIOS, no advanced options or configuration are required, simply drag & drop the image into BalenaEtcher and select the drive Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lack of some advanced options such as partitioning, formatting and filesystem type may cause old images or some linux-based OS (especially live distro) booting or installation failures.
auto detection of iso image need to be improved Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You can really create USB bootable media (such as windows OS installation or Ubuntu live distro) with a simple drag & drop from your folder to Balena: it will smart-search for ISO type and content to partition and configure your USB drive with correct options to let it boot from your BIOS menu.
Forget the old times when you have to burn your ISO files five or ten times to search for the correct settings to make it start, with Balena first time run is always a success! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
IMHO need to be integrated with official free Operating System repositories to add a "download latest version ISO" feature directly into the Balena GUI to let users download operating system ISO without having to browse website and ftp folders of official mirrors spending a lot of time searching for the latest ISO Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You can burn iso images for OS installation on USB drive with a simple and quick drag and drop operations and is not required to select or configure other custom advanced options because Balena is integrated with a iso auto-detection engine or something similar Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No important advanced options present at all, such as partitioning or formatting the drive before burning, you need to accomplish this task with another tool to start burning iso with Balena on your USB drive Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can create a bootable USB media to install Windows and Linux with a simple drag & drop operation Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
RPM package to install Balena Etcher is market as virus from some Cisco Endpoint antivirus, maybe a false positive but the install process need to be restarted after detection Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You can simply drag and drop iso files to burn on usb media without worrying about advanced options, uefi or efi, mbr or gpt, partition tables and other settings that in other software usually cause errors during boot sequence Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
ISO files of new version of Windows 10 are not supported by the tool making impossible for linux users to create usb bootable media for Windows installation Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is by far the easiest way to flash an os onto an sd card. (e.g. raspbian, ubuntu core etc.) I have tried other methods which often involve unzipping different tarballs and then find the correct device to flash to. With Etcher, I don't even have to unzip. I just download the zipped image, select the downloaded package and then click the card on a UI to flash the os to. Got Etcher for raspberry pi and then started using it for flashing any OS to SD card. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Limited functionality, but that's kind of why you use it. It just does one thing really really well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My favorite part about etcher is how quickly and easily it allows users to create bootable media, such as an operating system or installer. This program is extremely simple, friendly, and fast. Most importantly, it's available on Windows, Linux, and macOS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are no complaints I have with the current version of the software. It's a pleasure to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a simple interface, easy to use, and it's great to use. Super painless Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If there was an option to make .ISO and images from teh application that would bring it to the next level. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very easy process of putting and image to a USB/CD. Used it for dual booting installation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No dislikes as it gets the job done. However, would like to see more feature in the near future for easier dual boot options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
